If you’re going you’re not going for the most “high quality” room. You’re going for the experience. This is one of the most historic hotels in the United States. They tried to keep things original. It’s not the ritz. The Palmer had more class. Stayed there this year and it was great. Also the brownie was invented there!!!
I was stranded there during the blizzard of 78 omg 😲 I couldn't get the shower to turn off either. The room filled up with steam and I had to call the front desk at 4:00am I had a tiny room with a twin bed 😅
You made a wonderful video even if you didn’t like the hotel room! Did you have a chance to sneak a peek at the ballrooms? If they haven’t changed them from the original design, they are beautiful and unique.
That was nice they comped you. Those old historic hotel rooms in the city are generally pretty small. A few years ago, we stayed at the Hilton on Michigan Ave. The room was so small, I had to walk out into the hall to change my mind!
That room is NYC small!! The location is beautiful and central. But you had SO many issues with your room! Yikes! It was great that they comped your room right away without you having to say anything.
I would certainly understand about the small room, given when the hotel was built - but all those things that didn't work or worked poorly really weren't excusable. I'm glad the room was comped, but it absolutely should have been. The lobby sure is beautiful, though. I've never been there, but I always wanted to go.
@@JenandJoeontheGo Funny story you might appreciate: Almost 25 years ago, my employer sent me to Chicago for some training. The company put me up at a lesser chain hotel not far from the Palmer House. Back then, there was a Burger King (or similar fast-food place) across from the Palmer House. I grabbed breakfast there, and outside the place, on the sidewalk, there was a drunk homeless guy. We started talking, and as we looked across the street at the Palmer House, I mentioned that Phil Collins's "No Jacket Required" album was named such because, when he had been at the Palmer House, they refused to let him in the restaurant because his very expensive leather blazer was not appropriate attire. The homeless guy's slurred response was, "I know. They did the same thing to ME!!!!" Have a great day! Loved the video and your review!
We are going to stay there next week and a little nervous about size of the room but I screwed up and can’t find another hotel last minute at a reasonable price. Was your room a double bed?
We were thrilled. They definitely did the right thing. That room never should have been released to guests in the first place with that many issues. Jen xo
That's such a shame. Your hotel room reminds me of some of the old high class hotels in San Francisco. The rooms are always small. At least they compted your room.
Nah the Hilton Palmer house the rooms are not great I’ve seen better rooms of hotels I work there as a housekeeper and some rooms all the bathtubs are moldy and the pain coming off same with the doors of the bathroom and some mirrors I wouldn’t pay a dime to stay in the Palmer house .
Thank you for your video!

Hi Tyler! Just giving our honest review. Jen
Wow, what a bummer you guys had so many issues with your room. Was very nice they comped you for the troubles. Palmer house is such a beautiful hotel.
It really is so sad that the room had so many issues. Jen xo

Chicago is awesome! We’ve been been but not together. Glad that they made it right for you guys!
Don’t think we’ll stay there again for a while but we had a good time. Jen xo

Yes! We did get a look and they were stunning. Jen xo
Wow that hotel room is so sad 😞 I bet it was expensive too. That wall paper was so cool, Looks like Ursula’s shell necklace
At least Hilton comped the room. Jen xo
@@JenandJoeontheGo That is definitely the cherry on top

Lol!!! We even upgraded to a Deluxe King. Ashley’s room was smaller than ours. Jen xo

We were very appreciative. We are Hilton Honors Members and that room did not live up to Hilton standards at all. Jen xo
The rooms on Manhattan are so fricken small. Well, the ones I can afford anyway. Lol
Oh wow that was a lot of issues but I’m glad they comped you guys ❤️❤️Jenn
It was greatly appreciated. Jen xo

It’s a beautiful hotel. It’s just too bad the room hadn’t been taken care of properly. Jen xo

Beautiful hotel. Shame about the room but at least they comped it. Fingers crossed that next time you have better accommodation!
This is a historic, luxury hotel too, right in the heart of downtown. It was disappointing. Jen xo

@@JenandJoeontheGo just like the battle house we stayed at in mobile Alabama 💗 so beautiful
Even the pillows are small. Nice to have the verbena soaps available. Are there enough electrical plugs/usb? Hilton property okay.
Hi Kim! No. Those were lacking too. We were really disappointed in the room. We really expected more. Jen xo
Oh no, that room seemed like an absolute disaster!! Nice of them to comp it though.
It’s good that the location is so local!
