Great video! One thing I heard about the ferry is that your dogs have to stay in your vehicle and you cannot sleep or stay in your RV while traveling. That could be a real bummer for your pets.

My tip to cover the skylight in the bathroom closet is to use pop up car sunshades. I have used them to block light in my home skylights and windows, etc not just my car windshield. The spring can help hold it in place or use command hooks that it would push against.

OH MY GODDDDDD I'm from the town (Hoonah, AK) @0:59 and I literally couldn't believe my eyes! It's a town of 800 people and it's literally the best place on Earth. So happy you guys showed it, even for just a second!! And I just wanted to point out that the full tourist season is usually from April - October, pre-COVID.

@@NewstateNomads when are you thinking about going? Juneau is RV friendly “out the road” so literally any turnouts past Eagle Beach are going to be fine to use! There’s also an RV campsite that you can pay for right by the glacier. In Hoonah you’ll want to come on a ship day (I can find the schedule for you later) to go on the Ziprider and eat king crab! I’ve done the Ziprider dozens of times and the views are incredible. There’s a decent place to stay at in Hoonah that I posted on iOverlander! But obviously there’s tons of logging roads and such to stay at. When would you guys be down here? I’ll be back late August and my family could definitely take you guys out on the boat or something!
For the skylight we took Velcro ran it around the edges and use the silver window insulation. Cut it to fit and it’s removable and isn’t too offensive looking. Helps a bunch!
Stay tuned! We snagged 2 Lion Energy batteries for a great price from Costco, definitely a fantastic upgrade. Still have a couple more mods to make it "perfect" for us (but isn't that what they all say? Haha) and then we'll have a video out about it. 👍 -Howard

Don’t remember what video Katelyn asked about gluten free items, but here are some suggestions. My doctor had me go gluten free in January 2020 so I’ve tried a few things. For regular sandwich bread Franz white bread is my favorite. It’s soft and seems most similar to regular bread. Schär makes hamburger buns that are super soft and has a good consistency. They are perfect for burgers or pulled BBQ chicken sandwiches. (Found at Walmart). Goodie Girl gluten free fudge stripe cookies are fantastic for making s’mores (I’ve found it at Walmart). At Kroger stores I have found Pamela’s honey Graham’s… also perfect for making traditional s’mores. I really like the flavor, even my husband thinks they taste great. Only problem I’ve had is sometimes the pieces are broken in the package when I open them. I emailed the company regarding that issue, but never heard back. I’ve bought them again because the flavor is that good. For pasta I’ve found success with Ronzini brand (found at Kroger). I’m not a fan of the spaghetti noodles, but the rotini and macaroni are great.
Right about Seward reservation only. They also more than doubled the price for camping at city owned campgrounds. Very upset with the city of Seward I know costs go up but from $14 a night to $42 is just a little to high.

Very nice trip. I have 2 questions: When is the warmest time to go? The price of gas I suppose is more expensive than here in California. Thank you for sharing your trip and information.
End of June and July are the warmest, but all of June July and August are comfortable. Being adjacent to the ocean or glacial rivers you're going to be a little colder. Gas prices in town is very reasonable, but if you have to get gas along some of the long stretches in between towns, you're going to pay dearly. That is true about the AlCan as well. Depending on your vehicle, portable gas cans can help avoid some of these in between expensive stops and provide a level of safety. As of September of 21, Anchorage regular gas is about $3.60 per gallon.
Poor Scout. Couldn't you cut a piece of reflectex or cardboard and velcro it over the skylight? Then you could put it up and take it down, and the velcro can be removed later. Or any similar idea. :)

Ok I pull a 40’ fith wheel and want to make that trip. I understand I may be limited to where I can park it. Do you see many there and do you think renting a class c from there would be better. Did I mention I love my fith wheel.
Can't promise EVERYWHERE, but yes a class A should be able to get anywhere you'd like to explore in Alaska. Standard caveats about Denali NP (confirm your RV length against the sizes of the campsites) and you'll probably want to bring a toad vehicle to explore deeper. -Howard

What about fresh milk? I was there in 1969 and milk could only be purchased frozen.
