  • I hope you enjoyed the video, let me know in the comments which video you wanna see next! 👇
Important note: With this video I wann share my appreciation for other cultures and their cuisine with you and thus it’s important to mention that the Turkish cuisine offers of course more than only these dishes, I simply picked a few which I really wanted to try and veganise. :)
    My Instagram: / fitgreenmind
    My cookbook: www.make-it-maya.com
    RECIPES from this video…
    VEGAN MENEMEN:
    -1 onion
    -2 cloves garlic
    FRY in olive oil
    -1 chili pepper
    -3-4 ripe tomatoes
    -2 TBSP tomato paste
ADD to the pan/COOK until soft
    -200g silken tofu
    -1 TSP sugar
-salt, pepper and cumin to taste
SERVE with simit and fresh parsley
    CIG KÖFTE:
-250g bulgur, blend until it’s really fine
    -2-3 tomatoes puréed
    -1 onion, finely diced
    -2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
    -4 TBSP tomato paste
    -salt & pepper to taste
    -1 TSP cumin
    -1 TBSp chili flakes
    -4-5 TBSp water
    -a handful fresh parsley
    -2-3 TBSp pomegranate syrup
KNEAd really well for 20-30mins and shape into cig köfte/SERVE in lettuce boats
    ISKENDER KEBAP:
-2 small fluffy flatbreads, cut in cubes
    DRIZZLE with oil/BAKE at 200C/400F for 5-7mins
    -your favorite meat replacement
    FRY it
    Tomato sauce
    -2-3 TBSp butter
    MELT
    -4 TBSP tomato paste
    -1 cup (250g) tomato sauce
    -salt and pepper to taste
    -a pinch of sugar
    Yogurt sauce:
    -1/2 cup (125g) vegan yogurt
    -salt & pepper to taste
    -fresh parsley
    -1 TSP garlic powder
    -a squeeze of lemon
    SÜTLAC:
I Freestyle the creamy rice pudding, so make your favorite, then dust with cinnamon and broil in the oven until you see those black spots (took me 7-10mins). Let cool down before enjoying!
Did you like this format? If yes, let me know other cuisine, I should try! 😉

@@thickypiggy3611 It is very difficult to be vegan in Turkey and it is expensive like everything else. For example, I love milk very much and I use it in everything. Vegetable milks are 5 times the price of animal milks

@@lashin186 Yes prices in Turkey skyrocketed. But you don't need meat, milk or cheese supplements to become vegan. Btw you can make ur own vegan milk by using "su" and "yulaf". Plant foods are still cheaper than meat and dairy in Turkey.

There are tons of Turkish dishes which are completely vegan, you should try them as well, you wouldn’t even need to change them! Artichokes, any olive oil dish, “meze”s, lentil koftas, piyaz, wrapped vine leaf with olive oil, imambayildi, etc. World knows Turkish cuisine with kebabs but there are many many veggy options, wish everyone would knew 🥰

I know most of the dishes involve butter or dairy, but most of them are very easy to veganize. Vegetarian dishes in India can be veganized pretty easily. Also, Ethiopian cuisine has a lot of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Would really love to see you try them.
