Ah yes a video about Canada's C R I N G E P A R T I E S
Lol
the OTHERS are cringe
@Art Dent There is no left or right by the modern definitions given , this is a false dichotomy - only a spectrum of globalists to nationalists. Every major party in Canada and in the States are some form of globalist. Right and Left has only ever pertained to wings of globalism, say for example the Left Opposition Communists to the Right Opposition Communists (Trotskyites) of the USSR. Or the right wing Gorindins to the left wing Montagnards; and later left wing Robbspierists to the right wing Dantonists of the Montagnards.
In the same way the GOP and Tories are the right wing (neo conservatives, who are torch bearers of the Trotskyites) to the Liberal, Greens, NDP, DNC’s left wing.
I’m from the American South you clod and am no fascist, but label me however you like if it makes you feel better ;)
Again with the left-right false dichotomy. Chomsky can shove it for trying to limit descustions into his little Globalist box. I would expect that from him seeing as he is a globalist. Stifling actual discussion benefits him. What about false dichotomy don’t you understand? Note than in EVERY example I gave nationalist and monarchists (or “right wingers” as you call them) are entirely left out of the spectrum.
The GOP is marginally Nationalist now thanks to Trump, but is still made up of neo-conservative Trotskyites. Meanwhile the Democrats have culturally been pushing left since the 1960s and have now started adopting socialist ideas.
I really want to read an article saying "Quebec accidnetally elects wrong Maxime Bernier"
inb4 someone runs another person named Donald Trump for president
@@DingDingTheTH-camBuddy I could see that happening. Especially since a lot of Bernier's fans (if they even live in Canada) seem to be under the impression that Canadians vote for a Prime Minister when they really vote for a Party.
Bernier will likely lose simply due to the PPC being smaller than the CPC. Though I could definitely see Scheer as PM with the PPC as a major part of a coalition government influencing the CPC.
Something similar happened in the UK in 1970. Edward (E.R.G.) Heath, the Conservative leader of the opposition and soon to be Prime Minister, was seeking re-election in his Bexley constituency. Someone called Edward (E.J.R.L.) Heath also stood as a 'Conservative and Consult the People' candidate. He had changed his surname from Lambert to Heath for the election. The ruse did not work as the prominent Heath got 27,075 votes whilst the obscure Heath attracted 938.
And I wanna read a headline saying “Boris Johnson found drinking tea in the back of a bus”
@@ashkitt7719 The PPC has already stated it will not form a coalition with the Conservatives. The platforms don't align at all. Unity, equality and fairness are not Conservative values...or Liberal for that matter.

Ok finding a guy named Maxime Bernier to run against Maxime Bernier is hilarious
It's a classic political satire party thing. For the last election, Germany's Joke party found people with famous Nazi names (Rommel, Hitler, Goebbels,...) to run where the right-wing populists are strongest.

My dad has been a member of the rhinoceros party since he was in university. My favourite part of their platform is to pave all of Saskatchewan to make it the world's largest parking lot

Meanwhile in Germany, there is a party called "Die Partei" which literally translates to "The Party", which is also a joke party, but has won seats in the European Parliament and various city councils.
Ah, yes, as an American who _is_ aware of the outside world, I have heard of the "Party for Labour, Rule of Law, Animal Protection, Promotion of Elites and Grassroots Democratic Initiative" (Die Partei für Arbeit, Rechtsstaat, Tierschutz, Elitenförderung und basisdemokratische Initiative). Already, we are off to a humorous start with such a ridiculously long name (ostensibly to attract a ridiculously broad audience) whose name boils down to "The Party", which yes, is the nickname garnered by many parties in historical one-party states (and, as we Americans know it, the party in _1984,_ by George Orwell). _Die_ _PARTEI_ does have some real policies, such as environmentalism and support for the EU, but other than that, it's "populist" platform includes satirical policies like rebuilding the Berlin Wall and turning the former DDR (East Germany) into an SBZ, which is either a "Sonderbewirtschaftungszone" ("Special Economic Zone") or a "Sowjetische Besatzungszone" ("Soviet Occupation Zone", the nickname given by West Germany to East Germany during the Cold War). According to them, "there will be no order to shoot at the Wall", which sounds nice (then again, as another official of another "The Party" in the history of German division said: "nobody has the intention of building a wall"). That's not all, since there are many satirical slogans and campaign promises that have been made by Die PARTEI, many of which I get (though some need explanation, such as the slogan "Hamburg - City in the North!", which sounds more geographical than satirical).
For more information and German humor (and _ja,_ Germans _do_ have a sense of humor): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_PARTEI
@@Hand-in-Shot_Productions Yeah, you are right, when they get elected, they actually fight for issues. It definitely makes election campains in Germany more fun. I didn't knew about the reasons for the name.

Ok, but some of the stuff the Rhinoceros party says is actually kind of funny. My favorites: promote higher education by building taller schools, privatize the Queen, count the Thousand Islands to make sure the Americans didn’t steal any, and tax the black market. It’s stupid, but fun.

In Estonia, in the 1990's when we had just regained our independence, we had a Royalist Party. Their official program was focused around making Estonia a kingdom.
I'm too young to remember them personally, but they were essentially seen as a satirical protest movement that became unexpectedly popular.
In the 1992 election they even won about 7% of the vote and 8 seats in the Parliament. They did not join any interest groups or caucuses in the Parliament, but were known for some humorous actions.
For example when there was talk of starting sessions of Parliament with a prayer (presumably a Lutheran christian one), the Royalists brought some big shaman's drum and started beating that.
In Poland after we regained our independence the Polish Beer Lovers Party won like 3% of the vote in the 1991 election
@@mxcpxr2532 of course poland has a beer party!
JJ: we have almost 12 parties, that’s crazy!!
Brazil: *36 P A R T I E S, +120 waiting to be aprove*
29 parties ran in Israel’s last election two weeks ago. And that’s a huge step down from the April election where there were 42.
• VFSDM • good GOD Lemon!
I know it's pretty insane ! The party with most seats doesn't even have 15% of the total and most parties simply change one of the words on their name, e.g. workers party, democratic workers party, christian workers party, party for the workers cause and united socialist workers party. The most agredious would be the communist party of Brazil and the Brazillian communist party. I feel like the main disagreement is not based on ideology but on how they are going to name their party.
There are much more parties in India.
J.J. McCullough last election(2018) almost every single one of the 27 states got a governor from a different party
The Christian Heritage Party seems pretty wacky, but wacky in a "I admire their ideological consistency, even if I really hope they never gain power" sort of way.
I agree. Maybe that's also because they're not poisoned with irony like a lot of disillusioned folks these days. The CHP remains staunch and genuine and refreshingly clear.
Ironically, until Trump they dominated the Republican Party in the U.S. ...
@@timnewman1172 did they though? The Christian right has never had a president or leader. Its always been neoconservatives (Bush 1 2 Regan McCain Romney) Trump or mainstream conservatives (Nixon Ford) or a rhino (Eisenhower).
Trump is the most irreligious president for 200 years. He basically an athiest whos never actually thought that he dosent believe in God.
Britain has exactly the same thing as the Rhino Party called the "Monster Raving Loony Party". They only really stand in seats that they think will get particular media attention (key marginals, leaders' seats, etc.) and invariably abuse British electoral law on candidate names to be registered as things like "Nick The Flying Brick" who stood in Islington North (Jeremy Corbyn's constituency) and "Lord Buckethead" in Uxbridge & South Ruislip (Boris Johnson's constituency). They hold a special position in the national conscience as sort of guardians of the British people's healthy disregard towards politics, but are generally seen as being (like the Rhino Party) a bit last century.
America has something similar with a guy named Vermin Supreme (that's his legal name). He's pretty genius.
Just found myself thinking fondly of the MRLP last week as TruNeau left democracy and Canada in tatters at my feet. 35 years since I left England for a life free of Thatcherism and Class War… LOL. Technically a good choice at the time as here I’m a middle aged public servant now … instead of sweeping a factory floor. Then 2020 happened.
Guess I’ll just vote Green Party for a laff from now on, but would love to see a MRLP option on a ballot here. At least you’d know what you were getting instead of all this virtue signalling and fake-woke plastic politics painted over top of corruption and tyranny.
British fringe parties are helped by the custom of all candidates standing around in the same place to hear the election results, giving people an excuse to dress like Elmo 20 feet away from the Prime Minister if they want to.

Bonus facts about the Rhino Party:
1. Maxime Bernier is not the first Rhino to run against a candidate with the same name. John Turner did so in Vancouver Quadra in 1984, during John Turner's brief term as PM.
2. As someone mentioned below, the Rhinos finished second in a couple of Quebec ridings in 1980. At the time, it was the job of the top TWO finishers in each riding to hire enumerators in the next election. So parts of Quebec had Rhino enumerators in 1984.
The Rhino Candidate, (John C. Turner) the "other" John Turner in Quadra was an unemployed carpenter whose very presence on the ballot in 1988 left the Liberals to distribute how-to-vote cards and also plaster an 'N' on lawn signs for John N. Turner, who won re-election, with 24k votes to the Rhino's 700.

The Rhino Party reminds me of the time a cat was elected mayor in Talkeetna, Alaska. What a time to be alive.
And thus was formed, The Pussy Party.
He still is mayor, went on a cruise and bus tour through Alaska and got to meet him, and be on man vs food in Talkeetna. The mayor hangs out in the general store and meets people
Don't you need to be a citizen to run for mayor? How did a cat aquire citizenship?
@@beduin024 A decent number of small towns symbolically elect an animal as mayor. IN most towns, mayor is just council position, often with no extra vote power than any other councilmember, so they'll just forgo the human figurehead, and elect some beloved town mascot and run the government without a mayor.
Here in the UK, we have a cat in Number 10 who is well beloved some want him to become Prime minster.

During one of the federal elections back when I was in elementary school we learned about all of the different political parties and every guy in my class was disappointed that our area did not have a Rhino party candidate. All I remember from their platform at the time was that they wanted Tim Hortons to become part of the government or something like that, which even my 10ish year old self found pretty stupid and not even funny.
Ooh. I know Tim Moen. He's a sweetie. I even interviewed him on my channel a while back. Had no idea he offered to step aside for Max, but it seems like something he'd offer to do.
You're right, though. Libertarians tend toward the eccentric. Tim's about as normie as they get. And word to the wise, it's advisable to have a liver donor lined up before partying with them.
Unfortunately, Bernier really screwed our party over. He attracted much of our supporters with the hope of more electoral success, and then compromised a lot of the principles that drew over the supporters in the first place.
Tim is definitely a great guy as well. I helped him run in the last election, and he’s definitely the most normie of the Libertarians I know haha.
Jean Serge Brisson seemed pretty normie as well, when I attended their National convention in Ottawa, back in 2014; if memory serves me correctly with respect to the year. He runs his own business as a mechanic and his legal battle with the Canadian Government over the collection of GST is an interesting one.
The Soviet Union was never declared "communist" or a "utopia". The name of the party was Communist but society was socialist. Thus the name "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics"
Yeah because Communism is a stateless society and socialism is the transition between Capitalism and a Communist society
I hate it when people say that former socialist nations were “communist utopias” like, read Engels ffs

TH-cam: would you like to watch a video about Canada’s political system?

I remember watching the 2015 debates in my Economics class and during one of them the camera was basically exclusively on the Liberal, Conservatives, and NDP before Elizabeth May started talking and everyone, including the teacher burst out laughing because we all forgot she was even there. We pretty much have a 2.5 party system because the Liberals and Conservatives are the big shots, while the NDP is almost like a commentator.
As an outsider (an American) seeing a party with a solid presence but no hope of really holding the top spot is weird. I've always understood the NDP as essentially waiting for the day that neither party can form a majority, and so they demand certain policies in exchange for forming a coalition.
@@charlieputzel7735 Pretty much, although they win elections at the provincial level. Right now they control a majority in the parliament of British Columbia. Usually (at least historically) new parties in Canada tend to be more successful first at the provincial level before they get any success at the federal level.

The Rhino Party here in Canada fills a similar niche to that of The Official Monster Raving Loony Party in the UK. Both parties largely exist as a way for people who don't feel represented by any party with a chance of getting a seat to say they voted. They are both also characterized by a rather outmoded flavour of political satire. Ooh this was so interesting. I’d love to see one on American Third Parties (i.e. Libertarians and Greens). because most Americans barely know about anything other the Democratic and Republican. And even state parties are rarely elected.
I think Northern Ireland might "win" in terms of number of parties. There's eight parties in the (suspended) regional assembly and five of them have been in regional government, and the same five have all won Westminster and European seats. That's on a population of less than two million (and there's also many significant "fringe" parties)
Now remember kids, always watch jreg....TO THE EXTREME!
How about a part 2 with some of the newer parties? Like the PPC and the Maverick? Love this video and would love to hear more!
I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about but I am extremely invested
