    Good intro to roller skiing. I liked the side-by- side videos of skate skiing on snow and roller skiing on pavement

    I get the same thing here in Fresno. Since XC has lessen in popularity here in CA the chances to see someone on
    rollers has gone done to unicorn status! I have only seen two other (86" & 2012) roller skiing in our city. i even won a fall activity event at work!

    I know this will cross train well with XC ski, but will it help a winter downhill skiier do better on the slopes next winter?

    • @eriklynch7037

      Hello! It definitely can with keeping a relative ski feel and balance, but the best option if you had to chose one, would be roller blades. You can actually get some turns in, closer to down hill ski feel. And a great drill to get a bit of a leg burn going with roller blades is to drive through your carving turns on flat ground so you continue to gain speed or at least don't come to a stop. I hope that helps! thanks for the question!!

    Hello. Thank you for the information related to roller skiing. I am an older gal (59) who is a marathon runner and winter X-C skiier. I live in Montana. I would like to begin this sport, but I have no real idea where to start. I would love your thoughts. After reviewing TH-cam videos and Google information, I am thinking of a classic set of skiis would be the best for me? I am 5'4" tall, so not sure how tall of poles I would need. Also, I am thinking I should purchase a pair of "summer" boots instead of wearing my winter ski boots. Any help/ideas would be great! Thank you!

    How do you brake on those?

    • @eriklynch7037
      @eriklynch7037  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ha the most Important question!! it can be a bit tricky. the 2 main techniques are positioning your feet like you are going to snow plow on skis. Make a wedge shape > and step your feet pushing out gradually slowing down. or drag your ski/ foot behind. which wears oath wheels fast. or find a nice road or hill that runs out strait and smooth so you don't have to worry about braking ha! I should make a video.

      @@eriklynch7037 Nice! I think these are great, but just wondering how practical they are as a means of getting around. It would be great if they banned cars from cities so that people could actually commute to and from work using things like these, or rollerblades, skateboards, cycling and so forth.

    • @eriklynch7037
      @eriklynch7037  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nikolasirovica3250 Ha yeah definitely location dependent for practicality. I would say for most cities not very practical. Roller blades would be much better safer easier more convent than these ha. Although I have roller skied around Toronto, Denver, San Francisco, Santa Maria, etc. I did it for fun or for training for cross country skiing and for that the best time to go is like 4:30 am ha.

    • @eriklynch7037
      @eriklynch7037  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nikolasirovica3250 I should also mention in Europe or select mountain towns in the US it is much more common to see people skating around on these but usually a place with a very strong cross country skiing culture. It's a fun sight to see!
