    Ok, so the "Pre CA Ban" part is a bit of humor based on a recent video. But I guess the real question is can a "Noname" company put our a reliable and affordable inverter generator that you and your family could rely on?
    Ok, so I know I said I'd only post the ebay link but I did tell the company that I'd also post their link. So I'll leave it up to you which one you would prefer to use.

    I bought a turbo and a set of coilovers from this company years ago. They are known in the mid tier Chinese automotive industry for suspension and engine parts. My turbo I bought with them has seen about 12k miles and 25 psi with no issues so far, same for the coilovers. They are basically a well managed ebay/amazon store that does well with their warranty and they have become popular. I didnt know about anything about their generators but its nice to see them branching out.

    Just a quick note. Westinghouse rents its name out to anyone willing to pay their price. Every since the second merging with CBS I haven't been able to figure out what is going on with Westinghouse. Of course, I didn't spend any time looking. So, if you want to open a repair site for Westinghouse products, you can, for a fee. For my money, I'd go with the HF Predator because of the quality and warranty.

    Been using maxpeeding rods turbos for a while. They have a decent rep in the aftermarket automotive market.
    They are know to have decent forged rods often need a little final machine work before install. Turbos are known to be decent other than the undersized wastegate port on the internal gate models causing boost creep on some setups.
    I can speak from experience, the wastegate issue is easy to fix before installing the Turbos. Spent about an hour with a carbide burr opening them up on the twin turbo build I did.
    Went from fitting the tip of my pinky in to being able to put my thumb in 😄. (Has to be a joke there)

    The float bowl needs to be drained Everytime you go to start it. This will eliminate the junk fuel sitting in the carb. If you get it to start with that crappy fuel that has been sitting in the carb you will fowl the plug. I don't live in California but I'm wondering if their future small engine ban includes ALL small I/C engines or only gas and diesel. The reason I wonder is that, as far as I know, all of those big "whole house generators", as well as some smaller ones (and even some outdoor equipment) run on either propane (LPG) or natural gas.

    • @Hensleytheultimatehoundsman
      @Hensleytheultimatehoundsman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ban bans any spark ignition engine for off-road use under 25hp. Since diesel doesn’t have spark it’s not included but anything that has a spark plug and is under 25hp is affected. This includes golf carts, generators, lawn equipment, 4 wheelers, tractors, etc.

    I think MaxPeedingRods must have seen this video and realized their generators were overpriced and significantly reduced them. I just ordered the 3300 watt generator directly from them and paid $587. Its 3300 starting watts and 3000 running watts and has a 30 amp RV plug on it (though rated at 25 amps its still the same as the HF Predator 3500 and much lighter ). As long as it runs my RV AC I will be happy. I may even install soft starts on both AC units and try to run both of them.

      @@tonymaiettasr.7340 J and T. My point exactly. Ive fixed a few inverters over the years. Try and get a schematic from one of these companies. It can't be done.They won't share service data. And if they did, some parts are either expensive as 'one of's' or can no longer be had.
      In the two way radio business we can't get 2SC1972's. You can buy fakes all day, they don't last, or eve work, but nobody is making proper 'new' ones any more. This is going to obsolete a lot of good gear in the next few years.
      Same deal across the industry. Causing all kinds of fits in the 'hi fi' community.
      And people wonder why most of my instruments are 30+ years old and have few or no micro processors in them.
      Keep it safe. Time to snore here on the east coast.

      That concern would be a good reason to get a Predator genset from Harbor Freight and bite the bullet for that longer term 2 or 3 year extended service/replacement agreement. That way you could just haul it back to the local store for replacement if it goes poop, and not need to ship the monster to Timbuktoo. Of course, I don't take my own advice, but then all three of my elderly gensets, one a Ramsond Sinemate 2500 sine wave inverter type and a couple of those little 2-stroke 900 watt fussbuckets have never given me so much as a hiccup, and I use them frequently. In fact, perhaps that's why they run so well. Infrequent use is the killer.

  • @warpigxxxl18
    @warpigxxxl18 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Are any of them made in America?

  • @BilgemasterBill
    @BilgemasterBill 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You're right: That's WAY too much for a mongrel brand genset with sub-mediocre features. I paid $405 with free delivery for something off eBay called a 'Ramsond Sinemate 2500' sinewave inverter "clean power" style genset with electric start, a 30 Amp RV style outlet (for "shore power" on a sailboat, which is largely why I got it) in addition to a regular pair of 110 DC outlets and a 12V DC 8 Amp outlet with cables and alligator clips for direct vehicle or other battery charging. No USB port, but that's hardly a deal breaker. I wish it were as quiet as a Honda, but at 62 dB at 10 feet under load on its economy setting measured with a phone app it's still noticeably quieter than that MXR2300. But the gensets I use most? My pair of little sub-$100 2-stroke 900 Watt fussbuckets from Harbor Freight they no longer sell--both the red 'StormCat' predecessor to the green basically identical 'TailGator'. I just adore them and how "handy" and portable they are. I would highly recommend them to anyone should one pop up at a garage sale or elsewhere--even a non-starter. Chances are 99% that it's just a cloggy carb from lack of use and ethanol fuel snot. Always run ethanol-free fuel in such small engines, if you can get it, and to shut down the engine, just turn off the fuel and let the carb run dry: no cloggery later.

      You need to add up your wattage requirements then do some research and make a decision. If you're talking about space heaters, they usually run around 1500 watts each. For a refrigerator etc., you also have to consider that they require higher wattage every time they start up than they do to actually run (surge watts). Always buy a more powerful generator than your actual requirements just as a buffer, for example, I run a 240 volt welder off of my generator at the race track, the welder has a 22 amp draw which equals 5280 watts (the math formula is VOLTS x AMPS = WATTS). My generator is rated at 8100 SURGE and 6500 RUNNING watts. By having a more powerful generator, I can also run a few other things (such as lights) at the same time I'm running the welder if I have to.
