* The Railway Museum of Bochum is a railway museum in the southwest of the German city of Bochum. The museum was opened in 1977 by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Eisenbahngeschichte e. V. and has been managed by the Bochum Railway Museum Foundation since 2011. With an area of approximately 46,000 m², it is the largest private railway museum in Germany.
The centerpiece of the museum is the 14-storey locomotive shed with a 20-metre turntable, water tower, workshops and locomotive handling systems such as coal-fired power station, water crane and sand tower. In addition, there are two exhibition halls with tracks on the site. There is also an operational 600mm field track. The entire building of the former depot is a monumental building.
