The narrative that Goff somehow brought down the Rams, when they handmade the playoffs since 2004 before his first full season as a starter is literally blasphemy.
umm, they only became a playoff team when mcvay joined the rams, i watch every rams game for years believe me when i tell you after we got figured out towards the end of 2018 goff has been horribly inconsistent and every pass 15+ yards i would literally be in shambled because I knew if goff had 1 turnover, he was gonna have more that game because that’s just how he is, he can have a good game and play horribly for 2
@@packzz3954 I'm a rams fan and mcvay has been totally figured out and should take most of the Blame, let's not forget goff was labeled as a top 8 quarterback just before playing against the dolphins in 2020. Mcvay is too predictable
@@packzz3954 You can also say, Goff was thrown in his "rookie" season (only playing the 2nd half) & improved (like most QBs) his 2nd year? His 1st full season starting, they made the playoffs! & He saved their post-season w/ a broken finger! He had the 2nd best passer-rating of the 2020 playoffs behind Rodgers. McVay also needs to take the blame for destroying Goff's confidence in the media & on the sidelines.
Can't wait. Big Stafford fan here. Been watching him since he was at Highland Park. My friend is a athletic trainer there. She got me on the sideline in big ol Tyler, Texas to watch HP vs. Kilgore in the state quarterfinals - Kilgore had a crazy good RB and Highland Park had the craziest air attack I'd ever seen in high school football. Stafford was lighting it up. Get to the end of the back-and-forth game - Kilgore scores to take the lead with like 1:20 left - HP and Stafford get the ball and go 80+ yards for the game winner. Very easily the most exciting game I've ever attended at any level. I think they lost the next game, but HP went undefeated and won the 4A state title his senior season. It'll be nice to see him on a talented team.
Dude you’re literally talking about the Los Angeles Rams, you want a team nobody shows love to look right across town at the chargers. Rams are like the team that has a top 3 fan base as far as dick riding.
As a lifetime Rams fan I have a ton of respect for what Goff did for this team. That being said I a so excited to see how McVay will open up the playbook with Stafford. I do think that Stafford has a higher ceiling and that is what McVay was looking for. Not that he cant win with Goff but that Stafford is just a better QB. I have season tickets to the Rams and will be there for every home game. Cant wait!!!
Cant forgive how they trashed Goff intentionally and sink his stock just so they win the media game to justify going for the trade. Goff played with pins in his thumb without practice and did enough to win the playoff game against Seahawks. And how come after they loss to Packers, Rams convinced us Goff was the problem? Hello, did we all watch the same game? Goff was pretty decent in that game with 21/27 and made some timely plays. It was our so called #1 defense that folded but no one wants to talk about that. Trashing Goff is simply a blame deflection for McVay, Snead and players like Ramsey who actually folded. In Ramsey's case, he was literally fooled by DaVante. Lost all the respect for this team. As a fan, but not a sheep, I don't mind them losing terribly next couple of seasons that put them in a place to own up their mistakes than scapegoat someone else. Coming to Stafford, I believe he is better but let's not forget the context. He always plays from behind, so the yards are always high. Like how Dak throws 400, 500 yards in losses. There is a reason why he is called Stat Padford. Ppl either don't know him much or sympathize him for being on a bad team but are they? He did have years with Megatron and Top 5-10 defense sometimes and nothing to show for it. This is the first time he has any expectations. Interesting to see how he responds.
@@BalaKrishna-bq5iz I understand you feeling that way. I see it differently. I think they felt that they went as far as they could with him. @Big Daddy Rikka yeah Stafford is highly overrated and never had his job threatened or had to feel the pressure of having to deliver playoff success...the Rams gave up Goff and TWO 1st round picks..it's Bowl or bust.
McVay had to babysit Goff and talk to Goff in his earpiece every play because he didn't know how to manage the team like real QB, they would get called for delay of game more than any other team because Goff needed his hand held by McVay
LA now has 2 top tier quarterbacks playing in the same stadium. They're both cut from the same mold, and even look like they could be brothers. Best to both. Herbert's my guy though.
As a Lions fan I was wanting detroit to trade him 3yrs ago! I'm glad the Fords gave him a chance and I'm excited to see him ball out in LA. GO RAMS!! #9!!
Marino had that mark at one time. So did Fran Tarkenton. Dan Fouts was up there, too. All elite QBs (HoFers), especially Marino. Combined: 0 Super Bowl wins. It has never been about just a great QB and great stats.
The most annoying trend of Stafford in the past few years is avoidable turnovers. It crushed our heart in Detroit to watch such a legendary talent make such weirdly stupid mistakes and put the game out of reach. But besides those moments, the man is a beast and with a solid team around him in the Rams, I think he's going to fleece teams left and right.
He's improved a ton during his career but he still can't hit a guy in the flat to save his life. If he's throwing to the flat it's going in the dirt or out of bounds.
Stafford has , amazing as it is , stayed healthy , and he can sling the rock ! But it's unfortunate the way the Rams are basically shitting on Goff , bc he took them to playoffs a few times and a SB ! Yeah they scored 3 damn points , but McVays game plan in the SB was garbage and he admitted that himself...
Goff's problem was he didn't grow as a QB as his career grew. He just stayed the same. He's not a bad player by any stretch. But his window to win a super bowl was very short, before his contract and the ability for elite defenses across the league learning how to shut him down, absolutely slammed that window shut. Edit: And stafford has not stayed healthy. His back had been a recurring problem for him throughout the latter portion of his career.
im a rams fan so i know for a fact Goffs game feeds off of his confidence between that game in miami and when mcvay trashed him after that niner game where he lost to nick mullens that was judgement day for him he completely shut down and his teammates stopped believing in him too especially our defensive players were calling him out in the media glad he got a fresh start now in detroit we'll see what he makes of it i wish no ill will to him
A) Love Pat, but did they just forget Woolford scored zero points & then got injured in the 2nd quarter. Goff came in & won that playoff game w/ a broken thumb?! @@mr.doctorcaptain1124 This is exactly it... goff was 4-12 before mcvay came into the picture. to act like mcvay is in any way the problem is ridiculous. Lions fan.... I have always enjoyed watching Stafford play. Even if we lost, he kept it interesting. But one thing I have to point out... not sure if he will get yards like that in LA because they have a running game. the Lions depended heavily on Stafford arm. Just like in the Barry days... it was hand off to Barry, we didn't have much of anything else... but at least then we had a solid D. I wish Stafford and the Rams all the best. I will still be watching my Lions and PRAYING for wins.... but I will root for the Rams and will be watching those games too. I understand that our draft picks from the Rams wont be as good but oh well
17 games now so Stafford can easily hit 4,500 yards passing. Rams will control more clock with the run game, so Stafford will have a chance to be more efficient with his attempts. It should be easier for him since he doesn’t have to be a hero 95% of the time anymore.
I seem to recall Michael Lombardi on Hammer Dahn last season pointing out Goff's short comings in respect of handling pressure. Although, that is probably the case for most QB's.
Damn that's sad Goff will go down as the most disrespected and most underrated quarterback in nfl history, this dude was a top 5 quarterback at one point
I agree with a previous Lions fan. Although I am not, Stafford is incredible and provided the Rams have the defense this year, they could be superbowl bound.
Stafford struggles to lead his receiver on deep balls, has nagging injuries, and lately has had really bad interceptions. Hope your guys catch all of his 50/50 balls.
Compare the coaches. McVay will call plays that will have wide open receivers. And they'll have a top 10 run game and defense. The pressure is not on Stafford at all except maybe on 3rd down passes
Goff is poop. As a 9ers fan, never once worried about him. He’s like jimmy who is our weak link. Rams are legit now. Are only silver lining is they struggle against our run game and shannahan but they’re way better now
Stafford has Brees levels of toughness and still has a CANNON. AND I COMPLETELY FORGOT HE WENT TO THE RAMS. As a Niner fan I am excited for that matchup.
No, I don't, and it doesn't have a thing to do with Matthew Stafford and his abilities as a QB. I continue to be amazed at the Stafford and Goff story, where one guy who never won and it was never his fault is praised to the max while the other guy who won more games in four consecutive years as a QB than any quarterback in Rams franchise history is viewed as the reason the team lost is crazy to me. That being said, the turnover this year in the Rams organization and the departure of so many coaches and players has left the team in a very precarious position. The Rams lost 7 coaches off their coaching staff and 25% of their active roster players from 2020. Gone, too, are their top talent evaluation people under Les Snead in Brad Holmes and Ray Agnew. You do not lose guys like that plus Brandon Staley, Aubrey Pleasant and Aaron Kromer and not feel it. Brockers, Fox, Ebukam, Johnson III, Hill, Rivers, Everett, Blythe, Brown, Reynolds, Goff, Bortles and McQuaide are gone just this year and most were instrumental players in the Rams success the past four years. The Rams got 33 year old Stafford, a 35 year old DeSean Jackson, Corey Bojorquez a punter to replace Johnny Hekker and Kareem Orr a backup corner back to replace the losses. You generally don't win by subtraction in the NFL and the Rams got a lot older in several key positions for 2021 with only mid round and late round draft choices to fill really big shoes at so many key positions. I am very surprised so many think that the Rams this year can overcome those losses and win a Super Bowl. The Lions might win more games than the Rams this year.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 you don’t know football… come see me at the end of the season SB I’m hopeful but the lions winning more games is a joke… The problem with Goof was he never audibles EVER… He would bootleg into a blitzing LB and everyone saw it coming that 6 man front is his weakness.. Stafford will audible out of that accordingly… as far as the departures they said the same thing when we lost Littleton Joyner Peters Talib Suh you get my point…

I've watched Stafford for eleven years.still has issues with touch passes. Trouble with short passes that require touch. I've only seen him put four quarters together a handful of times. Love the guy, tough as nails, clutch gene all day.
In fairness, after Calvin the WR room was always solid. Still, we all know that a few guys playing catch is not enough to win games. Still need to run and play defense.
You guys are crazy. Dude turns the rock over. 70 fumbles plus 144 interceptions is crazy. The talk about this dude is crazy. Never cracked 70% in completions. Only threw less than ten picks on seasons that he did not finish. He was the lions problem. He is the white Jameis Winston.
Goff was never a fit for McVay’s type of offense, his offense is designed around a athletic QB. Goff is anything but highly athletic / mobile and if you really analyze Goff’s NFL career he was only a above average QB when everything was great around him. He had trouble reading complex defenses, that’s why McVay was on the mic so long. Goff is in for a immense wake up call, Goff’s last two seasons he became a turnover machine.
@@shotbynolan1705 exactly, McVay would have never drafted Goff he was trying to see if he could facilitate his offense w/ Goff and after 2 seasons of regression he finally cut the cord! The biggest issue I saw in this e were whole thing was why in the hell when you know he’s not a fit do you pay Goff $100M!
I have faith in Lynn’s offense to be more friendly to Goff. But yes the Lions are a downgrade. Still don’t think Goff will be as horrible as people think. He’ll be average.
@@luisofthelion for his sake I hope he does better than average, because he has 2 seasons to show he is an above average QB and can be a franchise QB. For Jared’s sake he better play lights out these next 2 years or he will be thrust on the ever growing pile of backup QB’s.
@@hardline5889 And that evaluation won’t be based on face value because we know the Lions won’t be good. They want him to be a game manager making good decisions while they continue building around Goff. If that means throwing the ball out of bounds 5x a game because the play breaks down, so be it.

If the Rams can even play a lick of defense that teams gonna be pretty good. Could you imagine if Calvin, or even Barry got a chance to go to other teams besides the Floater City!
Jared is a great person with a lot of class he will almost always say the right thing. Stafford will be fine. The real question I have is McVay actually a good coach? Does he have long term success or will he just be a flash in the pan type coach.
My point exactly. Stafford has proven that he is 🔥 regardless of who’s coaching him. McVay has been spoiled with talent in LA. I think he’s a good coach but he gets way too much credit considering how talented the Rams are.
@@luisofthelion you realize he took over a team that was 4-12 and won the division his first year... if it seems like he has a lot of talent its because hes helped the GM collect/scout it

@@luisofthelion his defensive guys deserve credit for sure as do all his assistants. Like you said, the last hiring cycle was aware of McVays eye for talent, especially in terms of coaching.
Game vs Miami this season really set the tone for Goff, I am a Rams fan.
Man it sure did smh
Glad there’s a show that shows the rams some love 💙💛
Year LAR most definitely are ignored in the media ... why?

From a Hawks fan I love this! Stafford vs Wilson week 5 sounds dope!
See you at sofi!!!
@@BalaKrishna-bq5iz I understand you feeling that way. I see it differently. I think they felt that they went as far as they could with him. I hope Goff lights it up in Detroit, I will be rooting for him.
@@dave92692 McVay was unnecessarily mean in the media & on the sidelines, which didn't make much sense bc it hurt Goff's trade value. He walked it all back since, but I knew nothing about the Rams other then I felt really bad for their quarterback.
Honeymoon time is great, give it a season. Remember when McVay had Goff’s back
@Big Daddy Rikka attitude wise... he really isn’t.
Love the respect for Stafford but as a lions fan I really hope Goff takes these comments personally
LA now has 2 top tier quarterbacks playing in the same stadium. They're both cut from the same mold, and even look like they could be brothers. Best to both. Herbert's my guy though.

It has never been about just a great QB and great stats.
@@eugenedenbrook322 Super Bowls are a team effort tho. So many average qbs won Super Bowls. It’s a team effort period
The fact that you use legendary talent and Matthew Stafford under the same breath makes your statement looks completely foolish
He does have legendary talent. No on said he's a legend .
He's improved a ton during his career but he still can't hit a guy in the flat to save his life. If he's throwing to the flat it's going in the dirt or out of bounds.
Hes statistically one of the best QB's ever isnt he?
@@TonsOfFunk He really improved last year like his awesome throw right to JJ Watt for a pick 6.
Lions fan.... I have always enjoyed watching Stafford play. Even if we lost, he kept it interesting. But one thing I have to point out... not sure if he will get yards like that in LA because they have a running game. the Lions depended heavily on Stafford arm.
