Pangi Porishtang Festival : A Cultural & Historical Perspective

"Porishtang & Gorasing "are two synonyms which means " Temple or HOUSE INAUGURATION".It is celebrated in every village of kinnaur .In this vidoe locals are participating in “Porishtang” ceremony at Pangi village, Kinnaur which is celebrated on the occasion of inauguration of newly build temple of local deity. Although it is a custom where Brother and sister deities of distant villages took part in this ceremony with thousands of people witnessed the traditional Porishtang but this porishtang of pangi village is only for shashering Domber ji & Nagas Deity of pangi village.
Some interesting facts about Porishtang:
1) Historically Porishtang ceremony is celebrated to purify the Temple from all the negative energies.
2) People came to celibate the social gathering of Local Deities wearing their traditional attire.
3) People celebrate this festival with Traditional Dance and music.
4) This ceremony/festival takes places after 12 to 20 years or more.
5) In Kinnaur, both Hindu and Buddhist traditions are followed to see the event a success.
