How to shoot an audition with your smartphone camera?
Use a tripod, if you don't have one place your smartphone or camera on a desk, chair, ledge or shelf.
Choose a light coloured wall as the background. If there are any switches, etc stand in front of the switch box to cover it.
Make sure that you light your face well. If you're shooting with natural light face the light so that the light brightens up your face.
If you know how, lock your exposure and focus settings or your smartphone or camera app.
Use landscape orientation. Don't shoot on portrait mode.
Set the camera close to you so that you get less noise and better audio.
Frame a mid shot, keep a little space above your head down to your waist or chest.
Start your audition stating your name, age, contact details and phone number. Make sure to turn sideways to show your profile shot or even pan down to show your entire body.
Don't look directly into the camera unless asked to. Look off camera or behind the camera.
Keep your actions and movements to the minimum, try and be expressive with your eyes and face instead. Don't wave your hands and block your face.
