I learned about the eraser trick a few months back for cleaning leather strops, works amazing but the way. Glad to know I can use the same method for the diamond stones.

I have a block magic eraser, the white one that kicked butt back in school, wonder if it would still work it's kinda dried up. But cool tip, I was washing mine under tap water :( prolly not smart.

I jus purchased the Axminster 400/100 grit large diamond stone and out the box it was brilliant and I went to town sharpening all my chisels and a few plane blades THEN it got clogged up with steel I guess; and it lost all it's cutting power. I did try a rubber as I'd seen that one manufacturer bundles a rubber with the stone. Wether the rubber was too soft or not (pencil rubbers tend to be the grittier type) it didn't work too well on cleaning it... but thanks for this I'll get a more abrasive rubber and try is again as my stone is now like a teflon frying pan and pretty useless only after a few days in the shop.

Your very welcome! Diamonds last a very long time if maintained - Im thinking if you clean them you will see a big difference in how fast they sharpen. My course stone is where I notice it mainly
