Suggestion from a fan of NIO, the rolls Royce of EV, goes as follows --
Battery swap idea of NIO can it not lead to evolution of a car carrying 50% battery for urban use and additional 50% capacity for highways. Like a 100 KWH battery if could be divided into 2 or 4 separate slabs, 1 or 2 slabs of 50 KW could be always used on regular urban use with option of home charging and add the remaining 1 or 2 slabs of 50 KWH in swap centre when required to go highway; this would be very useful in India especially, where highway runs for 90% of customers would probably be not more than 10-12 times in a year; this should save carrying 250-300 kgs of extra weight in city and would increase range as well.
