@@nallepalle7806 I listened to all their original podcasts starting in like 2005 or 2006. I also watched all of An Idiot Abroad and listened to all of their "new" podcasts. He isn't exaggerating anything, this is absolutely Karl, and it's a "K" not a "C" btw.
Ohh Megan youve found an absolute gem in Karl Pilkington, hes absolutely hilarious without even trying, HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND "an idiot abroad", it involves Ricky sending Karl to different "wonders" eg Christ the redeemer, the great wall of China etc, etc, its bloody faf, especially season three when hes joined by the dwarf Warwick Davis or Davies, Karl is from Manchester and is a typical northerner, says what he sees UNFILTERED, edit, you mentioned Karl not breaking character, hes not playing a character, this is Karl in all his glory
Ricky Gervais is such a hilarious 😂 bloke here & I liked watching him in the office during the early 2000s on the BBC channel. Thanks for sharing, Megan, and I love your sense of humour 😀 ❤
Karl is like that. If you ask alot of British people they absolutely love him because of his deadpan / dry humour. One of the best ever series to come out of Britian is called "An idiot abroad", Karl mentioned he went to China, he went to China in this series and it's hilarious. Really recommend it, even if you don't do videos on it, it's really a funny and great series to watch. There is 3 series, he goes to China in the 3rd series. Thanks for the video as always Megan.
Karl isn’t a character. That’s literally him. So around the time the office was made in the early 2000s, Ricky and Steve Merchant were the hosts on a podcast called XFM. Karl was their producer, they quickly noticed that Karl was unique in the way he spoke and was naturally funny because he was seemingly a bit of an idiot and he saw things very differently. He instantly became the subject of Ricky’s amusement and joined them both on air talking with them. He eventually was coerced by Ricky and Steve into travelling the world (something he was reluctant to doing) and his whole experience was filmed for a show he was unaware was going to be called ‘An idiot abroad’. I highly recommend you check out the XFM podcast and/or the Ricky gervais animated show (which is basically the best clips from XFM).
Karl doesn't break character because that is him all the time - authentic and moany. It's natural not to know this when first encountering him, such is his unusual way of responding to the world. He's a gift from the heavens and much appreciated and adored! Next videos to see might be 'Meet Karl Pilkington' Parts 1 and 2. And then the podcasts and travel shows that revealed this national treasure to the world.
Ricky is undoubtedly a comedy genius. He knows the funniest thing in the World is putting Karl on the spot and winding him up. Luckily for all of us, he knew he had to share Karl with the World.
😄 Just remember that Karl actually thinks....that this is a real learn English programme. While Ricky knows full well this is just a wind up! Brilliant! And while Karl thinks that...he is actually acting like it's a real travel guide for Chinese people. London Eyye. It's basically "the worst English lesson ever" (as Ricky remarks) and, unsurprisingly, the worst real travel guide for Chinese people. An improv comedy masterpiece like no other and a high totem of British humor. Endlessly rewatchable.
Karl Pilkington is basically a friend of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, who's just naturally hilarious because he's a bit dim-witted and says the dumbest things out of nowhere, that Ricky and Stephen just invited him on their show. Everyone probably knows a "Karl". A friend or friend of a friend who's just (intentionally or unintentionally) hilarious and has everyone cracking up. Ricky and Stephen brought him onto their show to get some of that more natural comedy we all experience everyday from "our funny friend", rather than the scripted stand-up comedy routine. A type of humour often lost in professional comedy, exactly because it is "professional" and staged and planned out. But this is an attempt to capture that more rough-and-tumble comedy that all of us experience everyday, from just chatting with friends... and then someone says the most stupidest hilarious thing out of nowhere, and you're all cracking up. Karl is not playing a character. He really is charmingly exactly that dim, but he's so unintentionally hilarious for it.
Some context for you. This is just a practical joke Ricky set up with his best friend Karl Pilkington, (who is not in on the joke) and thinks, learn English with Ricky Gervais is a real TV Pilot... Another practical joke Ricky played on Karl, was to send him around the world, knowing he would hate every second of it, and sets him up in the worst hotels he could find. and force him to do things he hates. That show is called (Idiot Abroad)...A Must watch
The forgeigners who come over aren't conned. They're worshipped by Kier and his leftist cronies. And that's bot a dig at you Megan, you seem like a great person and have a wonderful channel. Oh, and dig means to make a hole. But it also means to aim an often negative remark at someone... aim means to point (usually a firearm) at someone. But it can also mean to reach a target... a target is like a deadline, but is also something you fire at with a firearm... deadline or firearm next? I could go on for hours with my sarcasm 😂
Karl's not playing a character. He's genuinely like that.
That's hysterical! 😂
He is playing an exaggerated version of himself, a character that isn't too far from the real Carl.
I agree, with Karl it's 100% what you see is what you get.
He understands that he is funny now, so occasionally he will be purposely funny. Most of the time though, this is just Karl, and it's comedy gold!

There’s so much of Karl pilkington to explore , the guy is a comedy genius without trying to be funny at all . Idiot abroad is a great watch

Oooh thanks for the recommendation! That sounds hysterical! 😂

🤣 yes he is! Thanks Falcom! 😊
Karl isn't in character, that is exactly who he is.
Karls not breaking character because he isn't in character.

You're welcome! Thanks for watching! I'll definitely have to check out an idiot abroad :)
Karl Pilkington is a legend who I'd rather have as Prime Minister of the UK than Keir Starmer.
You'd get a lot of leaflets through your door with Karl as Prime Minister
Agreed

I'd also recommend 'The Ricky Gervais Show', a pod cast they did with Stephen Merchant. It's a scream!
"...This has happened to you, hasn't it?"
This is not scripted, its just Karl being Karl. Ricky met him during work and found him to be unintentionally funny😂. So introduced the world to him.
Brilliant !!!!
😄

i had a similar conversation with a friend, in a bus, about a bunch of strawberries. About 45 minutes. and no stops on the route😂
The whole skit is just to wind up Karl it's one of Ricky's favourite things to do.
Just to repeat - Karl's not playing a character. He's genuinely like that.
my favourite person..Karl Pilkington !
Ismo, (not English) is also genius with words. his sketch about the word "ass" us genius.
Karl Pilkington LIVES
Hi Megan check out the animated Ricky Gervais show you'll love it!
Karl remains in character his whole life.
The comedy is contained within the context 'comedy'. There's no racism or bigotry.

Karl isnt a charchter. Hes genuinely like this all of the time. Watch Derek. He plays a character in that.
like others have said this is not a character karl is very child like in alot of ways
That’s just how Karl is. He has an unusual assortment of odd ideas, like jellyfish are 98% water, add 2% more water and be done with them.
“I don’t know who Karl Pilkington is…” Oh you sweet summer child….! 😂
If you liked this, please react to "The Ricky Gervais" show. You won't regret it
You'd love any stuff with Karl in - he is genuinely naturally funnier than Ricky and he isn’t even trying to be funny
Karl isn't breaking character because he isn't acting lol
Wait wait wait, you don't know Karl?
You're in for one hell of a journey down the rabbit hole of his mind
He is literally the cure for depression

karl is a good man to have a pint with, but i reckonhe gets enough atttention
He made a fake show just to make fun of Karl. Can't fault him for that.
Ricky Gervaise has 160 Million! Why does anyone need that much? When people are starving ? That's quite useful to know !
One word, two meanings..... That bit was major cringe.
