    I probably spent 20-30 hours trying all kinds of convoluted SDL direct mapping and config file editing before happening upon this wonderful video. Solved the problem in 5 minutes. Thank you so much for taking the time to record this quick video, my nephews had a great time playing with me this week!

    I've been beating my head against the wall for weeks know trying to figure this out!! I built a 2 Player Retropie setup up using the Dragonrise usb boards. My issue is that my Player 2 controls were always off. Left was right and down was up, drove me crazy!!!
    I searched and searched and tried multiple things, nothing ever worked and was about to junk the whole project.
    Everyone else said it was an EmulationStation glitch, but no solution. You're the first person to set it up in RetroArch.
    Great Video!!!

    This helped a lot. Is there any way that I can have the 2nd player joystick input for the 1st player in some games?? That way I can keep a 8way and 4way joystick most of the time. I tried putting joystick #2 for inputs listed for N/A under 'port 1' but it still isnt recognized in the mame menu.

I can choose the default start + select hotkey, but that doesnt open up the player 2 control menu shown in this video, it just kicks me back to the retroarch menu. Any ideas anyone?

    When I power on the Raspberry Pi with both controllers plugged in, player 1’s controller functions as the second player, plus the second controller is inactive and the hotkey doesn’t work at all. The only way my 2 player can work properly is if I power on the system with one controller plugged in, then plug in player 2 while the Pi is on. Is there any way to have a 2 player setup that doesn’t force me to plug the second controller every time I turn it on? I want to make my setup as conventional as possible.

      What type of USB controllers are you using? If you have game pads plugged in then I’m not sure. If you are using a USB control board (in my case I use XinmoTek) there are specific requirements. You have to make sure that player 1 and player 2 buttons are plugged into the correct pins on the board (search for the pin schematic) make sure the pins match the button you plan to map (ex X pin matches X button, Y pin matches Y button, etc.). Player 2 must match player 1 exactly. I used the joystick test app in windows to test my buttons before putting it in my barcode. Finally only configure Player 1. Player 1 and 2 should now be working. If something is still off on player 2 rearrange the button connections to pins until it all works. You cannot adjust player 2 configurations in software.

    • @lukeskyrunner3
      @lukeskyrunner3  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a good question. Assuming you are following the steps and mapping each controller separately to player 1 and player 2, it sounds like both the controllers are being understood by the pi as a single controller input source. Is it possible to connect two bluetooth devices to the pi at a time?

    • @lukeskyrunner3
      @lukeskyrunner3  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My only thoughts are that it is possible that the controls are somehow connected to the same input, or that somehow whenever a player is configured, the buttons are overwriting each other. I'd try going back into the menu and checking which buttons are mapped for each.

    • @taylonjudd923
      @taylonjudd923 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i know old, but in case others run into this issue, go to "retropie" from the main emulation station menu. choose retropie setup. next choose tools/configurations. Select "emulation station" then select clear/reset configurations. that'll clear everything then you can remap your controls after that.

    Using 2x dragonrise generic boards, which under retroarch 1.6.7, report as a dragonrise n64 encoder boards.
    I'm planning on getting a raspberry pi 3 and I hope this alleviates my issues..
    Basically, I'm getting a conflict whereby player 1 is configured and I go to configure player 2, this overrides the player 1 buttons.
    Is there a little bit of code or a tweak I need to be using.

    • @lukeskyrunner3
      @lukeskyrunner3  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish I could have bought them like that! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find any button letters, so my only option was to make them. The buttons come apart so its perfect to disassemble them and put this numbers/letters under the clear plastic. Using adobe illustrator, I made a template for the lettering and gave it to a local print/vinyl shop who was able to cut it into vinyl for me. It was very cheap. Around $4-5 actually.
