Dubai Groom Scammed by Insta Bride, Left Stranded with 150 Guests | ISH News

In today’s world, finding love and even getting married through social media has become quite common. Many young people use platforms like Instagram to connect with each other. A recent incident, however, highlights the dangers of online relationships, where a Dubai-based man was scammed by a woman he had never met in person.

This new story involves Deepak Kumar, a 24-year-old man from Dubai, who was recently scammed by a woman named Manpreet Kaur. According to reports, Deepak and Manpreet had been talking on Instagram for three years. Although they had never met in real life, they grew close and eventually fell in love. The couple even decided to get married, and the families agreed on the wedding date - December 6, 2024, over phone calls.
Deepak, overjoyed with the plan to marry Manpreet, returned to his village, Mandiali in Jalandhar, Punjab, a month ago. He was ready for the wedding and traveled to Moga with his family, friends, and 150 baaratis (wedding guests). However, when they reached Moga, they were told that someone from Manpreet's family would meet them and guide them to the wedding venue.
But after waiting for hours, no one showed up. When Deepak’s family asked the locals about the wedding venue, The Rose Garden Palace, they were shocked to learn that there was no such place in Moga. The family tried to contact Manpreet, but her phone was switched off. They then searched for her and her family, but couldn’t find anyone.
Heartbroken and feeling cheated, Deepak reported the incident to the police. He told the police that for the past six years, he had been working as a labourer in Dubai and had been in contact with Manpreet for three years. However, he had only seen her photos and never met her either virtually or in person. Manpreet had claimed to live in Moga but work as a lawyer in Ferozepur.
Deepak also revealed that he had transferred ₹50,000 to Manpreet for wedding arrangements. Deepak’s father, Premchand, shared how he had spent a lot of money on taxis, caterers, and hiring photographers and videographers for the wedding.
The police in Moga are now investigating the matter. The story has gone viral on social media, with many expressing their shock and sympathy for Deepak.
This incident is a reminder of the dangers of online relationships and the importance of being cautious when connecting with strangers on social media.
