Brilliant vocal harmonies at the end of each verse that CROSS each other! HUH? Brian didn't write that part, but does come from a note in the harmony! COOL none the less! A fan!
I was so shocked by the authenticity and the production quality of this BW music (which I never expect apart from Brian), that it brought tears to my eyes. Then I noticed Scott and Jeffery (and the others hiding in the shadows!) and I understood how this could be. Brian's band is so awesome!! Btw, I liked both the singers, and don't get the gratuitious digs against the guy (in the other comments). Anybody who loves BW is OK by me.
Aimee Mann is so wispy, thin and tall! She looks like an elf. I like the timbre of her voice and how relaxed and simple it is. She is one of the few female musical "artists" i can respect.

Until today, I only heard the Beach Boys version, not knowing that anyone else covered this song. This cover is so beautifully poignant, to say the least. Is this available on DVD? I think the reason why everybody is hating on Michael Penn is that the fellas on here are all mad for Aimee Mann and they think the only thing keeping them from her is her husband. And like alot of the fellas, I too use to buy things I didn't need at Newbury Comics in order to pay for them at Aimee Mann's cashier booth. And Michael Penn is obviously a talentless buffoon out to ride Aimee's coat-tails and smother her with his acidic, energy sucking non love. Just kidding. These two sound fantastic together.

Penn sounds like a little whimp in this. His voice sounds weak and meek. I know its supposed to be sweet and gentle per the song, but....His voice sounds constricted and throaty.
