- This is our first ever time using large format retaining wall blocks! These Redi-Rock wall blocks were a pleasure to work with. I am SERIOUSLY impressed with the KX-033 for being able to lift and place these blocks so easily.

Great job Guys! I Love watching you with that bucket! I know the upfront cost was a handful, But watching what you do with it makes it worth every dollar!
Thank you! Yes it is definitely an investment, but it makes our lives so much easier, and we can do a better job for our clients! Great tool!
Great precision….love watching this…..learn a lot…that KX, like I always tell you is worth its weight in gold
We learned a lot on this one too! The 033 is really proving its power lately!
Nice job on both the drain and the wall!
Nice work on the wall and French drain. I like how you used the bars in the wall footer. I plan to try that. I built one Redi-Rock wall and then found Vertical-Block and really like that system. Have a few Verti-Block walls on my channel…
The pipes in the trench was very helpful. We use that method to set all of our patio bases and it is very consistent and quick. I will have to check into Verti-Block, I have never heard of that before.
I have one to build. Now I know my 33 can lift them....thanks..great job
Just barely, but it gets the job done!
nice work! After laying the screed rods level with the gravel, did you have to compact that layer too or just the subbase?
Just the subbase is compacted. The leveling layer is only 1.5” thick and has a little settling room to help level the blocks once they are laid. That is the same way we lay our pavers!
Heck of a bucket
Its awesome!
I'm going back/forth between the 033 and 040 do you think I'd be giving up too much by going with the 033? Also did you need to have extra plumbing done for that attachment?
I personally think the 040 is a strange size. The only reason I would go with a 040 over a 033 would be if you needed to have much higher hydraulic flow for running something like a brush cutter. Otherwise, the 040 is not a big enough jump to warrant the extra cost, and extra complexity of a turbocharged diesel with emissions.
I love the 033 and think it is very capable.
Good work
How much do you think those blocks weigh? Must be a good 1500 lbs
Large base blocks are 1740lbs!
What did you use to wrap the drainpipe & rock? That didn't look like typical fabric I see used.
It is called Carthage Mills FX80 nonwoven fabric.
Hi Nick, great video once again. What laser level are you using?
I believe we are using the Dewalt DW079KD rotary laser (now seems to be discontinued). We bought it about 12 years ago for our first ever patio project. It has worked very well for us, it has a single slope function, is quite durable, and we have multiple batteries for it, so when it dies on site, we can just do a battery swap and keep working.
If we had to upgrade, I would consider a new laser with dual slope capabilities. I have looked into both Topcon and Spectra but not sure who I would go with.
Thanks Nick
I used to make thies there magnum stone walls
With my kx040 you can pick them right up high as you want
I mostly take those out of places to put in real stone I’ve never used a chain to move them just grab them with the thumb 👍
The chain is nice for install since you can spin the blocks around however you need. Good to know the 040 can pick them up easy! 👍🏻
