Sublime addition to your channel. Having seen the Indiana state wrestling championships a few years now, Crown Point High School is always well represented and based on Bahl's obvious intelligence and articulation, I believe the school does well academically, too. I can't wait to see future editions of Wrestler Spotlight!
    February 2022 EDIT:
On Saturday, February 19, 2022, Anthony Bahl became the runner-up in the 2022 Indiana High School Wrestling State Championships, 132lb Weight Class, and Bahl's team, Crown Point High School, won the Team Title with 138 points placing 11 wrestlers in the Championship round. Well done Anthony and good luck winning State's next year which will be his senior year.

With all of your work, you really bring the sport of wrestling to life! Terrific video of the matches brings the viewer right mat side to really see all the skill involved and the action! Your interview here is really great too! Brings some extra insight into the sport and to the wrestlers themselves. Anthony did a great job with the interview and it was very informative. What's cool also is that when I was watching it, I looked at some of the clips you used and I was like, "hey...that's Caden!" as I recognized him from another of your recent video posts. You really captured Anthony's confidence well in the clips and interview....I was especially entertained by him 'fixing his hair' in the camera at the end of the vid. Great job!

    DYNAMIC
Your recorded interview brings your TH-cam channel thumbnail photo to life and gives you a positive, fluid, interactive presence with the wrestler in his own words. No leading questions, just professional journalistic reporting. Educational and entertaining.

Wow. Not just a great idea and thoughtful interview, but I have to say the timing and rhythm on those cuts were perfect, The cutaways brought it to life, and I know that it took a lot more editing effort than some may realize, to say nothing of getting and curating the footage itself.
I also liked the economy of effects myself. The focus is on the subject instead wasting time on fonts, transitions etc, and jumps right to the thoughts of the subject without winding introduction. It goes fast like action itself and theres no time mis-spent. It seemed as if you memorized the questions without even notes or cards. Either way this must've been a ton of work, thank you.

As always, your feedback is thoughtful, helpful and encouraging. I really wish others took the time to share their candid thoughts as thoroughly as you do. One question: it seems as though you have firsthand experience in content creation... where can I see your work?

@@MidwestWrestle Thank you. i just do a lot of small 'grunt work' editing for short contemporary vids, nothing of scale. But doing so for years gives me an appreciation for this, and how your videography restores some much needed life back into this sport as most either seem to neglect basic action shooting or deliberately sterilize it out of whatever hang ups as if they're actually trying to deter interest in the sport itself. I'm sure you've seen how most wrestling videography looks like it was shot from a blimp or gas station security cam. Its kind of bizarre.
In short, you're the only videographer that seems to know how to shoot action for wrestling and make it engaging. That skill is an asset anywhere it could be applied; sports, extreme sports, nature or cinema. Plus this showcases your editing ability and instincts and that might be even harder, since editing normally means framing third party footage. Your work seems to suggest you would really thrive with extreme sports footage, for example. If you have an intuition for action, it suggests you could do anything well. You have an empathy for the viewer and its mind-blowing how many do not, in wrestling or much else. Thanks again for everything and best wishes.
Also, I have to add before I forget, your ability to find & match music to a scene and intro score is kind of amazing. For wrestling in 2021, *nobody* else even thinks of it, much more does it with a modern flair and intuition. It takes the sport out of the decades of obscurity that used to stereotype it as a "gym nerd" pursuit and gives it an aggressive edge. Not even pro sports has caught up to that idea. At best you might see it in, again, extreme sports. Framing it this way restores to a sport by youth for youth instead of just an arm-chair spectacle for dads.
Sorry for rambling but it did stand out in an appealing novel way.

At the risk of sounding redundant, thank you again for the incredibly detailed feedback. In fairness to other videographers, I am cheating a bit because my other role as a wrestling official forces me to be constantly thinking about where the action is headed before it gets there, and so that instinct has built up over time. It doesn't always work out-sometimes the action goes in the opposite direction unexpectedly, and unlike when I'm officiating, I can't quite dive to get into position when I'm carrying a heavy rig, but I try my best to get there as quickly as possible without giving the viewer seasickness. All that being said, I do think there are others who have a knack for this as well-off the top of my head, they would be Anthony Swindell of Up the Ante Productions (e.g. th-cam.com/video/jVr0haZsySw/w-d-xo.html ), Ryan Blake of Shaken Pictures (e.g. th-cam.com/video/8G4BOCPPhtA/w-d-xo.html ), and Joseph Shillinglaw of Shillinglaw Edits (e.g. instagram.com/tv/CK5FmlYnUFg/ ).

Hope you can do more interviews like this with these athletes. It's too bad that in mainstream TV sporting events the wrestling athletes are rarely interviewed. There are so many questions I would like to ask wrestlers but know that mainstream media outlets will never do.
