Even though I seen Djidawi do the same moves in every competition. I swear his twist-o-flex's, dime stops, waves, and toyman never gets old. When popkun attempted the twist-o-fIex I had mixed feelings like, why are you doing that? But mad props to both, they are great and amazing. Just wish Popkun didn't start dogging Djidawi style after what Djidawi did in the beginning, it was bad on his hand.
@BoogieCharmander Popping is a dance with 5 elements? I have no idea where you got that concept from, but I've never heard it explained that way. I've heard of people defining popping as an umbrella term in which many styles fall under, which include the styles you've mentioned, but it's not specifically those 5. You MUST HIT to be a popper. Everyone debates the definition of popping, but almost every sub sect of popping demands that you hit on beat, whether it be G-Style, EB, Boppin', whatever.
@kyeatspie Popping is evolving - nowadays pops and hits aren't foundation they are just one of technics ( very important), you can dance popping without hits. perfect example is Djidawi who is one of the best (many achievments like eurobattle, just debout , dancing in IBE 2009, Uk B-boy )
popping is a dance with 5 elements in it, it has boogaloo , waving , hitting , robotic and isolation. pretend a mindmap and in the middle we have popping and around the popping we have boogaloo, waving and on. u dont need to hit to be a popper, its just that Hitting is the most importan basic in popping. its the same as a toprock and sixstep in bboying. the name popping came from pop/hit people was poppin/hitting.
@HatakiSagara its just that we dont understand his style well, he doesn't win r16 korea 2011, joining brand new mind, win many other competitions and getting into this finals that easy (: excuse for my bad grammar. keep on dancing!
im not trying to kiss ass or anything but your toyman and wavings are as good as it gets.also salah repeats moves too and he still the best by many people including me.Keep the love for the dance men you inspired many people you know and many more that cant see you in person but watch your videos to get inspired some copy will copy you and some wont.Peace.
@TheRinc3wind Hitting is the foundation. Popping includes the creativity.. style and whatnot, but without hits you are not popping. Know your foundations!
I see a lot of comments saying Popkin hits more, but dimestops are hits too, and Popkun stays in a small range of motion for almost all of the battle, until the last round, where his waving and transitions get sloppy. I feel like he stays in his comfort zone, around his head. Djidawi took this one by being more diverse with the music and having musicality, which linked his dance to the song. In my opinion, Djidawi won, but that's just my opinion.
Djdawi is pretty good. He's smooth and energetic. But I saw just a little little tiny bit of repeats but no problem. On the other hand, Popkun really knew what he was doing and his improvisation with his movements are really creative. His Hits are very clean too. Both we're great and awesome battle, but I think Popkun took this one on my opinion. Respect to both. :)
To you people who wonders: "why do they pop/hit so much?, thats because hitting is the best technique to mark beats -> showing musicality = real dance and not just moves (like robert muraine, pacman, omarion etc.)"
@TheRinc3wind you only need a hitting style to be classed as Poppin'. popping, bopping, tickin, banging and others are Hitting styles in Poppin'. they all Hit in different ways, intensities, concepts, and use of technique. Djidawi doesnt lead with the Popping style he leads with waving and isolations making his Hits more internal. the name of the disipline (Poppin') doesnt represent the name of the style (Popping). This is a 'Poppin" battle/competition not a 'Popping battle/competition!
@TheRinc3wind Aye.. I don't think you truly know what you're talking about. Popping is evolving but the foundation will always be there, without a foundation to build on how can it truly be popping. Oh and Djidawi does indeed use hits, he's not a hard hitter, but he for sure uses hits. You should know that if you really admire him lol.
@TheBlacktionMan Popping now envolves lots of styles, not only popping, it's like doing newstyle withou bounce, it is legit, back in popping pete days popping didn't envolve bogaloo, neck-o-flex, puppet style, etc, the style beeng called now popping envolves everything, changing the shape of ure waving, small rotations, quick twist-o-flex, replace the snare priviledged position of hitting, junior bogaloo shows that, popping taco shows it, if u don't know these names im sayng, u should not discus
my honest opinion on this battle, not hating, just an opinion from a huge fan of dance....djidawi is very one dimensional and has been doing the same moves for awhile now and as far as Popkun, I enjoyed his creativity. Round 1 - Djidawi, Round 2 - Popkun and Round 3 - Popkun (barely).
Popkun ended his first round weak, and lost it on his second and third, and Djidawi battled him. Props to both, but thats what I saw. Djidawi also threw in alot of foundation in the 3rd, from a battle perspective, I get it. Plus he had a consistant flow. I really enjoy seeing his improvement
@leopardskinpants I actually thought Popkun was very repetitive, he would do the same thing as far as the "concepts" with his head n face? Which didn't really go anywhere, which he did in his first and second round. His second round he stopped popping, and when u do that, u have to do something. I do think Djidawi kind of put both of his rounds together, not so much waving but his arms and twistos, but in that last round he was way more in the music then Popkun.
@awerey Since when has the meaning changed? You hit on beat when you pop end of discussion. Who says it has a different meaning. If popping is no longer hitting on the beat what is it? explain to me what is!
just because i don't have a video doesn't mean i don't dance. i may not be known on the youtube community but i do have actual credit for dancing from people who know me or know of me. i have been in battles. i'm not in my garage filming myself. =P
Poppin is just pure hitting. If you want the correct term its called funkstyle or g-style. They are both same but come from different roots. But poppin is just hitting, and angles. People refer this as poppin because it striked out more. If I was to call a dance style an original move i'd call it boogaloo because boogaloo came first before poppin and waving.
I don't get it, so popping is about hits ?I thought it's about musicality, style, creativity. Hits are just one of many techniques in popping, although I agree with sentence "djidawi has not hard hits" Djidawi has the craziest waves i've seen, perfect flow and incredible musciality which makes him one of the best poppers in the world.
@TheRinc3wind hmm djidawi does not actually have good musicality. He just hits kick-snare-kick-snare, random beatfreak. His waves are nice obviously but you cannot say that his creativity is in the same league as Popkun.
I'm trying to find out what the name of the song is that has the lyrics, "Tonight, I feel like I wanna do something." Can anybody please tell me what song it is?
home game for djidawi but man is popkun getting slept on or what?! djidawi's sick but just cuz popkun's not flashy doesn't mean he's not funky. and popkun is POPkun for a reason lol, stays true to the core, the foudations
@Ceyfunn070 Excuuuuse me .. :p hahaha , shit happens everyone makes mistakes :p even mine is a Big one :p .. but anywayz , can u maybe give me the titel 2 of this song ?
real popping never had any boogie in it, the boogie style is something that has came in the last decade,........i prefer popping without the boogie aspect of it.
No disrespect old timer, but times have changed and so has dancing. Dancing has progressed to more than just waving and liquid power moves. Take Boogaloo shrimp from "Breakin" for example, probably one of the sickest boogaloo styles, yet in the new world of styles, he wouldnt last because he would run out of moves. Just like every other dancers, his moves are limited, so saying these guys aren't championship worthy is flawed. You talk a big game, lets see some of your moves, unless youre a poser
Dang I have to admire Djidawi's style. His waving, rolls, twist-o-flex's and dimestops are sick!!!
His flow is everything
Both of these guys were great! Congrats to the both of you for making it to the finals! Keep up the good work.
3rd song : Robert ''Goodie'' Whitfield - Do Something (1982)
Dj asfalte - Mo’ Knee & Music - first track!!!
Second song is: Shash'U - G-Groove. This song is really amazing.
what a killer battle...diji really killed it with the boog and precision while popkun killed it with tech and musicality with his tutting/hands.
DJIDAWI 💯🦁✔
Hey I would like to say that you were incredible at IBE 2009, Much respect for everyone there. ;)
@HatakiSagara its just that we dont understand his style well, he doesn't win r16 korea 2011, joining brand new mind, win many other competitions and getting into this finals that easy (: excuse for my bad grammar. keep on dancing!
I'm a big fan too and I agree .. You're right
im not trying to kiss ass or anything but your toyman and wavings are as good as it gets.also salah repeats moves too and he still the best by many people including me.Keep the love for the dance men you inspired many people you know and many more that cant see you in person but watch your videos to get inspired some copy will copy you and some wont.Peace.
very nice djidawi! i m still searching the song you danced in IBE ( bionic , salah slim boogie etc ) i cant find it hah
@TheRinc3wind Hitting is the foundation. Popping includes the creativity.. style and whatnot, but without hits you are not popping. Know your foundations!
last song is Robert ''Goodie'' Whitfield - Do Something
I see a lot of comments saying Popkin hits more, but dimestops are hits too, and Popkun stays in a small range of motion for almost all of the battle, until the last round, where his waving and transitions get sloppy. I feel like he stays in his comfort zone, around his head. Djidawi took this one by being more diverse with the music and having musicality, which linked his dance to the song. In my opinion, Djidawi won, but that's just my opinion.
Dimestop is a dimestop. A hit is a hit. In a dimestop you stop on a dime. In a hit you flex your muscles.
Djidawi's always perfect with his tricks.
His moves are so enegetic.
Maybe you should watch Les Twins, they greet their opponents Before, During and After their battles. Do YOU know the meaning of battle?
popkun is happy with his head ... all his moves is related to his head....djdawi is brilliant dancer,talented.....best regards from egypt
@walkitout321 I agree. there should be no need for disrespect if u've got game and confidence.

To you people who wonders: "why do they pop/hit so much?, thats because hitting is the best technique to mark beats -> showing musicality = real dance and not just moves (like robert muraine, pacman, omarion etc.)"
do you have any video that you dance? I wanna see how good you are.
@BoogieCharmander thanks i didnt know that
@Yia2k12 Poppin waaaaaaassssss just pure hitting, in the times when it was an independent style.
This is a 'Poppin" battle/competition not a 'Popping battle/competition!
like bruce ykanji said, battle is the wrong word. we are not fighters, it is an art of exchange, or a meeting...

@BoogieCharmander its not true there are much more styles , i dont really know why u just menetioned only five of them..
Djidawi un tueur rien a dire tellement qu'il a du talent , vive le popping français
whatever guys.it's the way he does battles. If you meet him he's a really cool guy
my honest opinion on this battle, not hating, just an opinion from a huge fan of dance....djidawi is very one dimensional and has been doing the same moves for awhile now and as far as Popkun, I enjoyed his creativity. Round 1 - Djidawi, Round 2 - Popkun and Round 3 - Popkun (barely).
I think Djidawi win. Popkun play his head too much.

@BoogieCharmander and tutting ? it is an element of popping ?
@stronger715 Yee tutting is an element of popping too. sry for the slow reply :(
1st rounds djidawi last round popkun DOPE BATTLE djidawi keeps getting crazier and crazier with his new concepts
dope! love djdiawi style. love Popkun's hairstyle!
@awerey Since when has the meaning changed? You hit on beat when you pop end of discussion. Who says it has a different meaning. If popping is no longer hitting on the beat what is it? explain to me what is!

DAMN djidawi gave it to him third set, off the top of the domeeeeee. so sick.
thank man =D
You a beast with attitude brah. 2nd only to Salah and Meech in my book.
@walkitout321 wasnt popkun the one who rejected the handshake?
Anyone else notice that the past 3 eurobattles have had a french popper and a korean popper in the finals lol?
@fashionNbeauty thanks
@awerey Mate you're wrong if you're not hitting you're not popping full stop!
I love Djidawi's form.
there's a difference between replying to ONE person, and spamming several people. well congratulations.

Djidawi killed this, alot more varied and clean.
@QuincyJhones
Are you serious? This should be a battle. He did it a battle. He did it right.
popper should hit any drums during battle and help u win. his every routine can hit any drums.
@carrusboy Try, just try to do the same thing whit this technique level over and over and we´ll see...
@awerey It does involve a lot of stuff. Stuff I gotta learn how to do now to keep up with the times. LOL Sucks....
@TheRinc3wind hmm djidawi does not actually have good musicality. He just hits kick-snare-kick-snare, random beatfreak. His waves are nice obviously but you cannot say that his creativity is in the same league as Popkun.
anyone can tell me the name of the third song please ???

real popping never had any boogie in it, the boogie style is something that has came in the last decade,........i prefer popping without the boogie aspect of it.
