I have watched a number of these off grid videos, it would seem that temperature swings are the biggest problem for the batteries, has anybody ever considered putting their batteries in an underground bunker, if it's anything like my basement they'll stay around 50/55° year-round.
So… I’m not an expert… but just in the 35 seconds… I see a major issue.. Now it be answered along the way…but having them battery in the the cold elements and a storage box on which is made of only wood🤔🤔 I would think they will have Major issues…. My Samsung s9+ can only last 20… maybe 30 minutes tops when weather is 30 degrees or lower.. My Surron battery doesn’t last long either… Are you planing on insulating it…Understandable when summer comes..you’ll have to make sure they don’t get to hot… What if any ideas have you thought of to get around batteries and certain weather issues.. that being Hot or Cold?
Hey so I’ve had my batteries in -40 and didn’t have any issues. But keep in mind they charge down much quicker. There is a 1/2 inch gap at the back of my box so they can vent and keep cool in summer months. Hope this helps answer your questions.
I will Preface this with You are welcome to do whatever you like, and I support your want to get after it. However you are either in Canada, Washington, Idaho, North Dakota or something of the sort. You are going to hate yourself if you let those batteries get damaged and you are well on your way. I don't want anyone to suffer that. The lowest temperature those batteries should ever see for even the worst performance should be -20c or -4f. Id say your power loss is more attributed to that than the lack of solar. Id get them insulated as quick as possible before you further damage them. Just my opinion. Also adding even a simple light bulb or heat lamp would help. Don't Take my word for it but consider the potential video you could make off of the experiment.... Am I right? Youve got a great setup and have a great start to a channel. Don't learn a hard mistake. I will be watching just because I'm curious. I'm chasing the TH-cam thing as well my friend. Wish you the best of luck and these are just my two cents. I run lithium and keep them inside. Remember Comments good or bad drive your videos so just view it as an outside opinion, you aint gotta like it and everyone has one. Take the good with the bad and interact with the intent to listen not react. Have an amazing Evening my friend!
You have a good system. The biggest issue I see is It's set up like a city slicker's system. Panels on the roof and batteries outside in a doghouse. Get yourself a 10X20 shed and insulate it, move your battery box indoors, and move your charge controller and inverter to the solar shed. wire yourself a wired or wireless monitoring station in the house. As it sits you can not clean the snow off your pannels. You need to move them onto a ground mount system.
Nice system, especially the invertor. After you insulate the box you'll be set. It must difficult to keep the snow off the panels!
Thanks appreciate it, and yes it’s a bit of a chore to keep them clear of snow. I do have a telescopic snow rake for that.

I recently insulted my battery box. Will do update video soon.

Can you charge on cloudy days?
Yes the solar panels do charge the batteries on cloudy days. It’s not a full charge but still some solar is produced.
