    🇺🇸 I hope you enjoyed Mapimi! This was the final video I filmed in Northern Mexico and was always planned to be the final one from Day 1! If you're an eagle-eyed viewer you may notice the callbacks to Puente de Ojuela, Real de Catorce and Nombre de Dios (I even used the same music from Nombre de Dios) - ICONIC!

      Hola hola David, just watching this interesting video and its silent beauty, would you say that this video was one of the most physically challenging videos you did in Mexico?
      Even though I was born in hot land I can't take too much sun like that in open air, I would have fainted there most likely, nice stroll!
      Great video! 👍
      I loved the drone view from the church and everything else too, take good care and enjoy your travels, see you soon in another video David!

    "spiraling closer to its conclusion", "time to bid farewell to Northern Mexico"... two quotes I wasn't wanting to hear. David, just want you to know that you've done the region and its people well. You've been honest, sincere, kind and humble with what you've created. For many years into the future, I hope that travelers check out your content and use it as a means to make their adventures better. Keep on, keepin' on!

      At the 15:50 mark it looks as if the mountain is looking into the sky. David, you stated that three indigenous groups called this area home. I would imagine this mountain was a place of importance on many levels.

    David! Another amazing video about northern Mexico! If you’d like, you should listen to Cadetes De Linares. They are an icon of norteño music! They actually have a song about Mapimí. It is called “Los Dos Amigos”. It is a classic norteño music song. Looking forward to more content! 😘😘😘💥💥💥🙌🙌🙌🍾🍾🍾🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊🎊

    David, that was perfection. Pueblos Magicos are truly redeemed. Beautiful colors on the buildings, 🌺, made it into a desert oasis of loveliness! Lol, sorry vegans! Soy vegana. 😉 And the song at the end, reminiscent of last year. Bittersweet, you made me laugh and get teary as well. Epic video! ❤️❤️

    • @davidostrowski679
      @davidostrowski679  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Total redemption storyline! JAJA I had to put the shot of the gorditas before the 'knowing look' when I said sorry vegans. I hope people get the humour LOL. I knew you'd remember the song. It's iconic Durango! In my head this was my final Mexico video (although I'm filming a couple more), It wrapped up a few storylines going back to Real de Catorce!

    Welcome back to un Continente Magico! It tends to start at the Rome airport. Maybe starring Cary Grant. I liked I Go Blind - Eastern Plain or whoever was singing - the song - Everyone's a hero nowadays. With or without TH-cam you are a knight armed with observation and gentle sarcasm. If our world is our hero what are we? Buenos Viajes!

    Thanks so much for a great series on Mexico. Mapimi has a special place in our hearts as well. So much I recognize from when we were there about 5 weeks ago ! We ate Corditas at the same place (we were brought there by a man who worked at the Municipal building used a few buildings to the left when standing in front of Carillo's Taqueria. We took pictures on the stairs of the Kiosk (the same man asking us to do so, in order to put it In the local Newspaper) He also advised us to go to see the nearby Botanical Gardens setup by the Uni of Torreon in order to teach about all the local plants and trees and cactus. As I mentioned before, my wife's roots lie in Mapimi (great grandparents) so for us it was great to visit it. And I sa you having a Fresca....how I miss those ! And he.....whenever you're in the neighborhood , feel free to drop by.

    That music at the end was perfect, winsome. The mountain is beautiful, the long vistas capture the Northern Mexico environment surrounding the pueblos and cities in the high desert. It seems to me that the Northern Mexican pueblos magicos are as pretty as farther south without the boutique feeling. At any rate great video, yo are saying farewell for now to see new lands and explore new aspects of media communication, teaching, wish you the best, great job showing us the non-tourist Mexico, you will back.

    Good luck on your next adventure. You’re struggling with that desert heat mate. No worries, if you do return Parras has 3 huge water tanks. It is a literal oasis in the desert Nestled in the hills. Those tanks are not pools, but where the water gathers coming down from the mountains. And there are no kiosks at their plazas. I was there last week and I brought back with me freshly squeezed grape juice. You’re missing out mate.

    I found red taxi style collectivos in the Soriano parking lot at the far north side of Gomez Palacio as you are leaving the city. It was 45 pesos to Bermejillo halfway to Mapimí. The driver dropped me And 3 others on a central corner where I waited and found a second taxi collectivo to Mapimí for 50 pesos. Took about hour and half total. Still have to walk to the mine and bridge since taxis are not allowed in that park. From Mapimí you can take local bus back to Torreon area for 30 pesos

    I have fallen in love with these videos for the towns of northern Mexico and that unfortunately is the only thing that Hollywood producers know. since they believe that this is how all of Mexico is. When you get a chance. you can enter a Mexican cemetery. It is an incredible peace. Also some simple churches come alive with smells and sounds with the people inside and take on different personalities. It all depends on the type of ceremonies they have that day. Definitely. You are one of the few lucky English gentlemen who enjoy a Mexico unknown to international tourism. It's just an intimate encounter between you and real Mexicans! Buena suerte amigo y vaya con Dios!

    In New Mexico you would have stumbled onto a morada, locked simple church in the mountains, which is used by los penitentes, a catholic offshoot. I wonder if there’s similar in Mexico? I thought it was purely a Northern New Mexico thing, and maybe it is. I’m glad the little whiptail lizard dropped by. In my childhood we used to stalk and catch them in the silence of the desert. Different to your childhood.
