The recipe is no doubt good but advising to fry the coconut till dark brown might sometimes burn the coconut which might make the paste, taste little bitter so i think its better to fry it till golden brown
I love your recipe s, it's always good. This recipe u could have named as ur style of theeyal it is entirely different from Kerala's ulli theeyal it requires one and half to two hours to prepare, don't spoil the the keralas traditional recipe. Take in a positive way.
The coconut paste looked little orange While grinding do not use water, the oil coming out of the fried coconut is enough the paste will be brownish too and taste more authentic

I'm from Kerala...ur kadal super I tried... I m ur sub.... in this onion curry(ulli thiyal)the onion is too much large..in this curry onion don't need to much large...
What is shown is just like ulli sambar except that in sambar cooked tuvar dal is also added. When we make teeyal we roast urad dal along with coriander seeds red chillies and grated coconut. Also we don’t put jaggery as onion shallots already have their own sweetness
