they can be agressive depending on the temperment in my encounters they warn you before they do harm by knocking on tress and using tree limbs as communication and to mark their territory if you leave them food they will give you something back in return very intelligent creatures you got a better chance of seeing a juvenile skunk ape because they more curious and adventourous then the adults

Funny comments, lived in Florida my first 23 years, moved to Kansas City for years, then Idaho till just recently. Now I'm back Florida and living east of Gainesville I'm a ufo nut,my best friend is a Bigfoot nut. Standing in his yard out in the woods along side a hunting reserve, it's almost dark and I'm just soaking up 72° weather in the middle of winter and I hear what sounds like a language I couldn't understand a split second later I hear the scariest scream, growling yelling I've ever heard and very soon after that a long Woop and a short Woop then a 80 pound dog barking not viciously but a frightened bark that thing is real to me now and I don't want to meet one....my best friend wants to camp and look for them but he didn't hear it. Notice there is no humor in this comment, still happy to be home. 67 years old and only believe in what my eyes can or have seen, like up to 4 different types of ufos and don't have to believe because I know. Haven't seen a skunk ape but I know the animals here and I do believe in them because that's the only thing that could roar like that, best to watch your 6 out there, you certainly will if you hear one that's upset.

Well, by now everyone knows ufos are real. I always believed the few people who told me about their experience. Sure this is real too

The lead researcher at Skunkape Headquarters. What he left out is that The Skunkape Headquarters is a tourist trap. It's a roadside attraction where you can pet a python (invasive and destructive to Florida), and you can buy a Skunkape keychain souvenir to remember your trip to Florida. I have my own reasons to believe in Skunkapes, but Dave Shealy is just a salesman.

My friend convinced me to go with him to the Everglades at night 🤦🏾‍♂️. I don't do shit like that for a reason . I don't know what I saw . All I know is it was up right and it was behind the body of water , and some trees . It was black , and The thing that terrified me the most was the whistle . I told my friend let's get out of here , and that's what we did . Never again+ I seen where should during the day that has nothing to do with a creature. If you want to go missing, or have a experience you can explain. Go to the Everglades by yourself if you can make it out to tell the story. Also seeing several murder scenes . Just throwing that in there shit is very creepy.

Yeah I'm no stranger to swamps, there's reasons large terrestrial mammals don't thrive in swamps. Many. Very cumbersome to wade thru the swamps especially when flooded. We evolved to thrive in grasslands/ humans or our ancestors walked upright when the grasslands took over in order to scan the horizon for predators, & chasing herds of far off prey... It'd take a whole lot of adaptations for a humanoid mammal to thrive in a floodwater swamp, let alone a permanent water swamp, long term lol. Not saying humans cannot survive living next to a swamp, but it's far from our natural element, too much fluctuation. We cannot even traverse muck without boots!... maybe I wouldn't leave this comment if I felt the skunk ape hq store didn't take itself too seriously. Still, at least if you're in the area/ in the everglades, sure check it out why not. But I'll stay in my usual lane in Central and North FL, more than enough at present and the everglades are forever plagued by many environmental problems. To each their own tho
