It's gonna be really tragic when we almost inevitably get the bad news that Alex has finally at last, broken his hands yet again so badly he has to have them amputated and can never climb again. Until he yet again finds a way to continue free soloing because he's Alex Honnold! lol
Honnold was once asked "How do you overcome fear". His response was classic, and shows a completely different mindset. "I didn't overcome fear. I expanded my comfort zone"
In his documentary they did a brain scan and the part of the brain that registers fear (and empathy) does not fire. 1 in 100 people are born with this.

Turns out, when you look into him a little more... nah, he just does stupidly dangerous things just to see if he can and because his brain isn't bothered by how dangerous they are.

Awesome Video - Have followed Alex since his early days in Yosemite when he was knee high to a grasshopper. He'll always have a big sponsor - a nice guy at the top of his game. Amazing what goes through your mind after cheating death the first time - seems like the process of "thinking your way back into the game" goes quickly, letting you pick up where you left off.
Means he started climbing on some holds that weren't part of the route, ended up somewhere that felt like a dead end, and had to downclimb or traverse to get back onto the route. He basically ended up on some random rock wall adjacent to the actual route and got stuck there.
