Some variety for sure fr africa . & That is a staple food of africa ,latin America, Asia , esp in humid countries , Bananas are like bamboo or weeds . Mahalaga producto Pilipinas ang Banana esp sa highland , Kultura Pilipino food yan .sorce ng carbo' energy , potassium , Pang breakfast,lunch & dinner ng iba mga tao kalo sa bundok , pang meryenda ng mga nasa lowland & pag afford bumili ng white rice.

Plantains, as per my research, is not the same as sabá bananas. Even their scientific names differ. So it is incorrect to use plantain as an English term for saba bananas. It is more correct to just use our own term for it - non-Filipinos should be better exposed to it so that when they come to the Philippines they readily know what it's called if they want it.

@@wavemaker2077 nag google na ako...ang saging nila dito is the usual table banana or apple banana and then macho plantain (heto ginamit ko sa banana q )and bluggoe naman ginamit ko sa maruya. Buong South Africa po ang nakakaranas ng load shedding or brown out...pero may mga lugar na hindi apektado ...tulad sa may banda dito sa amin...nawawalan lang kami pag ninakaw ang mga cable....pero sa kapit lugar ko..like 10 mins away lang e naku halos 4 times na tig 2 hours na wala sila kuryente
I'm so jealous, I really want to make turon and bananacue for my husband but can't find plantains anywhere in Tasmania... 😔 They don't exist here and they're very strict about their plant products so there's probably no imports available either.

Frying Banana is only good for special variety called in the Philippines "SABA" Other varieties are no good to fry its. But for me I better eat it a raw rife banana "Saba" without cooking it. '

Iba yung plantain. Pahaba yun na green pa din kahit hinog na. Yang ginagawang banana cue eh saging na saba. Mas maliliit yan pero mataba. Pero lahat ng saging sa Pinas kahit ano pang variety, ke latundan o senyorita o ano pa, lahat Banana pa rin ang tawag. Isang pamilya lang naman yan.

We use the SABA variety or cardaba bananas for cooking Banana-Q and turon, not the banana (cavendish, etc.) that they're used to.

it's called "plantain" not "unripe bananas". plantains can still be ripe but will still not squish or melt when cooked unlike regular ripe bananas.

Buong South Africa po ang nakakaranas ng load shedding or brown out...pero may mga lugar na hindi apektado ...tulad sa may banda dito sa amin...nawawalan lang kami pag ninakaw ang mga cable....pero sa kapit lugar ko..like 10 mins away lang e naku halos 4 times na tig 2 hours na wala sila kuryente

Noted po....i was just trying to show po their reactions...kasi po yes super sarap po tlga mga Pinoy foods natin and i really missing it...its just so surprising na very unusual ito sa mga ibang lahi...and nakakatuwa lang din po na malaman na ok sa panlasa nila or hindi....plus nakakagulat lang tlga their reactions.....
If you explain to them that this "banana" is actually a plantain they might understand better why it's better cooked than simply being eaten as is like a normal banana.

Frying Banana is only good for special variety called in the Philippines "SABA" Other varieties are no good to fry its. But for me I better eat it a raw rife banana "Saba" without cooking it.

Plantains are natives mostly in Africa. Saba is a variety native in South East Asia, mostly in the Philippines. They are a different variety, pero parehong pamilya ng Saging. The Saba variety can be eaten as raw or cooked. Yung Plantain, mapakla yan pag uncooked.
