It’s crazy they made these two picks and STILL made ELEVEN draft selections

Other teams didn't even know Sergachev was available. You pounce on a top-pairing d-man if one like Sergachev becomes available. You might as well take advantage of your assets (prospects, picks, and cap space) to add a top defenseman that Arizona hasn't had since they traded away OEL.

Utah HC makes a huge impact and tells the world they want to be a serious contender

I like this trade more with time. Without looking up his age, I thought Serg was 30-32 years old. Now, I see he’s 26. I’m happy enough.

Something to note about Sergy is that he’s been behind Hedman (and often McDonagh) for almost his whole career. In the number 1 spot and on the top PP he’ll probably score more for you guys.

I love the idea of Sergachev mentoring Simashev, But, and Duda as a Russian

I don't know why TB would want to get rid of Sergachev but I looked and his NTC kicks in next season. So I guess it was now or never for them. I hate losing Geekie but eh.

This is a bad move that got forced upon Armstrong to try and compete this year. Sergy isn't much of an upgrade over Moser. Marino is a smaller version of Moser.
Sergy has been surrounded by top tier talent since day1 and has been backstopped by one of the best goalies in the league, zero adversity other than his recent injury.
Moser and Geekie have tremendous upside. Moser gets even better as you put more talent around him and Geekie playing with Cooley and Guenther would be something else.
Guess we will see if Sergy is worth that $8.5m.

Bold statements, we shall see. I think we already saw Moser's ceiling and yes Geekie was their best non-NHL prospect
