Dr Yasir Qadhi is the best one for me. His lectures on Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad SAW is arguably the most comprehensive, insightful and the finest for English speakers worldwide. Also he came from Sheikhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah paradigm which is considered an antithesis to Hujjatul Islam Imam Al Ghazali. It will be an interesting take on what his approach will be if he was invited to be in this podcast.

Fantastic, this is the kind of ulama that Malaysia and the Muslim world need. Knowledgeable, rational and kind personality with great world view. Not the ustaz and lebais who spew hate that are way too many in Malaysia for the last no of years creating division in our society.

I believe Prof Naquib Al-Attas is no longer taking invitation to speak in public because of his old age. As the Malay says sudah amat uzur. However, his son Prof Tawfik Al Attas is the most suitable candidate to be invited as he is considered the heir of his father's intellectual works.

Dr Afifi gave significant insights and serious reminders on how Muslims should first look inward towards improving ourselves in knowledge, the sciences, business, economics, character, politics and leadership in order for us to be self sufficient so that we can enlighten the world through the beauty of Islam.
We need to change the way we interpret, embrace and practise Islam. Great job KJ, Shahril & your wonderful team. Hope this goes viral around the world. Amin. In sya-Allah.🤲🏼🤲🏼🤲🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Hadir from 'The Other Place". 😂 This very much feels like an Oxbridge tutorial session. Kudos, KJ and SH for bringing in the honourable Dr Afifi. He is a revelation and his erudition is a delight to behold. As a non-muslim, I find Dr Afifi's surprisingly laissez-faire worldview refreshing. Both of you handled the thrust and parry of this discussion with aplomb, and it is no small thing. KJ is visibly discomfited by Dr Afifi's advice for the moral high ground, but the good Dr demonstrated what a dab hand at tact he is. This is, by far, the best episode of both Kindred Stories and Keluar Sekejap, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. P.S. If either KJ or SH becomes PM, Dr Afifi should absolutely be their spiritual advisor and be the national conscience.

In Dato’ Dr. Afifi al-Akiti I can see a Muslim and Islam. His advice must be heeded, esp by our politicians,.... "don't play with this heady mix of religion & nationalistic populism". Without politicians stoking fires, people generally will be able to get along and live in peace. Like we did during the decades of Nusantara Islam.

Yes, there have been comparative studies that explore the similarities and differences between Aquinas' Thomistic thought and certain aspects of Islamic theology and philosophy, particularly regarding metaphysics, ethics, and natural law. Overall, while Aquinas' primary focus was within the Christian tradition, his engagement with Aristotelian philosophy, which had roots in Islamic scholarship, has led to some intersections with Islamic thought

This perhaps ranks as one of the top episodes of BOTH Keluar Sekejap and Kindred Stories combined! Such an enlightening episode this one and I learned so much. Kindred Stories has proven to be such a deeply inspiring podcast for me as a Muslim - very different from the Islam we see in the public space in Malaysia, due to the actions of opportunists and/or penunggang agama.
On a different note - Dr Afifi’s reference to SH being sidekick - I now can’t remove the imagery of Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo on KS. 😂
