Awesome of you to do this for your father in law! I’d really frame a window around the window on the house, as well as tie the walls to the ground you could drive 3’ anchor spikes through the sill plate but those will rust away over time better idea would be to dig every 7’ or so and put an anchor in concrete 18” down at least since your past the point of pouting a sill wall. Other then that I think it’s looking great man!
Love it BB! Can't help but agree with the back wall window opening. It will be be great if you open it up. May need to throw a lexan sheet to help with the temp differential / air gap between the spaces. Not sure how your laying out your windows, but, you'll want to make sure you can vent / support air movement to help regulate air temp. You'll want windows at the top and bottom and opposite that can be opened and closed. I'm guessing you'll upgrade to 2x6 for the roof joists too. I'd think about anchoring the back wall into the house and setting a few anchors on the outside walls to tie it to the ground. Don't want to to blow away. Happy Easter!
@@WoodnessGoodness I wonder if you swap the rafters to 2x6 it just makes a world of sense to use a ledger to tie the roof to the house and throw the hangers on. Maybe a couple anchors in the concrete pad / patio, but I think you need to pour some anchors along the long wall / outside short wall. May also want to think about water and power on that back wall too for best space use. It's going to be awesome!
So very thoughtful of you, Graeme. I’m sure you are your father-in-law’s favorite son-in-law. . If you get stuck, give me a jingle and I can help because I’ve built a greenhouse for myself. It’s lots of work for sure. You scared me with your nail gun when you were standing on the ground and reaching up above your head to nail the top plate it. I was expecting the nail to hit you in the chest. Sorry, I’m a mom and I was scared you’d get injured. Get a ladder❤️. Please consider removing/framing the studs around the house window so they can clean it and see out!!!
Hoping you move the studs out from in front of that window. Otherwise looks great! Don't climb on that roof before you get some sheer strength in those walls
Woodness greenhouseness baby! Nice to see you using the nail gun again because my arm hurt watching you swing that hammer in the last few videos. Tell everyone the real reason for building this for your father in law ..... he let you marry his daughter which was against his better judgment lol. This would go faster if you get your young architect to approve this structure 😊. Keep getting after it big G and keep em coming brother.
Haha that moment when you were asking yourself how long that wall was going to stand there and then it falls over 😂 Also, this is just an aesthetic thing, but was there a reason you didn’t plan the studs to be spaced around that existing house window?
are u doing everything wrong on purpose because u were getting too "pro"? trying to get back to your roots? LOL.......this reminds me of your first cabin build
@@WoodnessGoodness rafters are too small and need to be directly over the studs and u need joist hangers. also, snow is going to crush the roof panels and it wont slide off east at that angle. and the frame is so thin and unanchored any snow load might make it collapse. lol......just trying to help, not criticizing.....its more funny when u do shit wrong lol
So, "the least amount of mistakes possible"...I think you mean 'fewest number of' mistakes. 🥴 Countable vs non-countable: if you can count the thing (mistakes, flowers, burned up Russian BTRs), then it's many or few. If you can't count the things (love, happiness, desirability) it's "most" or "least." I don't know why most American speakers don't get this solid before leaving school but your videos are always a treat, and ofc don't let this tiny mistake stop you from making other more serious and dangerous ones, G !
Love seeing multiple projects going on at the same time! Breaks things up. I always look forward to every one of your videos.
Oh and I'm watching from Scotland 🏴
No freebies around here. PAY UP, TOM!!! Nice work, dad. Been wanting one of these too…
Greenhouseness baby 🤙🏼😁👍🏼
Hi Graham, hope you and your family are well. Just love your energy and what you create 🔨 👌
I have to echo the concerns for the stud in front of the window and also add my concern about the rafter span and how much weight it can handle.
Why block the window with the studs?
How is the structure secured to the ground (in case of windstorm)?
Maybe add a header there and open it up. Not a big deal to do this. Although it might be easier with a double top plate.

What a great surprise for your father in law Graham. Happy Easter to you n the family.
Very lovely idea! Everybody wants such a son in law!
Very nice. I know he will love it! Good son-in-law!!!!
This whole project had me shaking my head , like what is he doing, hope it doesn’t urns out ok
It looks smart, nice job. 🌷👍😊
Damn that came together pretty quick!

You have to fix those studs in front of the house window, please!!
Passive heat in the winter. Just open that window up !

Interesting. I guess you guys don't get much snow, so then it's perfect. 😉👍
0:10 Gotta have that on a t-shirt :-D
Yeah First ! 🤙🏼😁👍🏼
u should add some auto open vents that use the wax gauge.....either one on each end wall or one on the roof
just swap the two back wall sections so the short one is closer to the slab so you can open up that stub covering the window. easy peasy.
Trying to imagine my son-in-law doing something similar.
Just got a brain bleed, be right back…..
Wouldn’t the 2x4 rafters sag over time or with weight on top?
YESS BABY!
I coming for building, I stay for the dancing, so here is hoping
Sending my father-in-law the bill 😂
loveeee
who saw that coming?? nice weekend surprise -
What are the dimensions

Have you not Got a little spare place for your nailgun in that toolbelt?! It would look awesome…
What kind of a nail gun is that u r using
Milwaukee 21 degree
How do you know your father-in-law wanted to block the house window or the location of the greenhouse since this is a surprise?
He’s the one that put the pink tape down for where he was going to build it
blaa blab blaa window, blaa blaa blaa stud, the build is incidental, I'm here for the comments.
I love your builds and I'm just asking, isn't that to long of a span for 2x4 rafter?
Keep on with the great videos
Yes you are correct. I will be adding something…I had a Brian fart.
@@WoodnessGoodness I love a good Brian fart

Didn’t think of it…but good question. Maybe I’ll fix that!
waiting--I was wondering about that. I thought how nice it would be to look out of that room and see the things growing in the greenhouse!
