i was lucky enough to graduate high school the year this was on. and lucky enough to grow up in a time where it cost 10 dollars to go to a concert. we spent all our time at concerts. and we saw the best of the best from the very beginning. watching these old videos takes me back to a time where i knew for 10 dollars i was going to have a kick ass time.
I'm twelve and I'm a guitar hero addict. and one day, i was playing this song: and my 5 year old brother was listening to it next thing i know it's his favorite song! and i'm not kidding!
Wow...nearly fifty years later...my first time seeing this...I just wonder if they told each other...Fifty tears from now we will still be rocking this world...well they are and still do...thank you Aerosmith...for all the hard work, sacrifices and miles traveled to give us such great music...
ZZ Top opened for them last night in Atlanta. A great time was had by all [i was born 1954] and many were kids under 12-brought by parents and grandparents.
Who even put "dislike"? Really...It is a friggin' 35 yo video! The song is one of the best! Not enough credit given to Aerosmith...but look at how long they've been doing it! My brothers....and don't you think this is a band that the MIGHTY Metallica looks UP to! I love me some Metallica but....REPRESENT and GIVE mad love to the bois from Bean Towne!! I am SOUTHERN BTW!!
I saw them last night at the Boston Garden (July 17, 2012). They opened with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry rising out floor at the end of the catwalk (trap door, pneumatic lift) and the crowd was screaming. They went right into "Draw the Line" then (if I remember correctly) their new "Oh Yeah." The encore was "Dream On" and Tiny Bradshaw's "Train Kept A-Rollin." I don't now what happened but they were just fantastic. 10 Years ago I thought they were spent, but I recommend you see them now.
i wish i was born in the 50's... fuck the 21st century i think im like the only kid in my high school that listens to aerosmith it must've been so cool to see them play in their prime
This is the year I saw them, opening for Wet Willie & the Guess Who. Pretty Much exactly like this, but in front of a lot more people, so a lot more noise and feedback energy from the crowd. Steve had everybody just up and moving, Joey slapped the beat like an elephant, and the guitar work was razor sharp. Lots of hash and leather. Good Times!
Anyone who disliked this is completely crazy. A-Smith is the shit! Yeah, they might not be the best musicians, but we're talkin' about Rock 'n' Roll here people. and they are at the top of the R'n'R food chain. They also happen to have one of the top rhythm sections of the entire genre. I'm talkin' about (alphabetically) Hamilton, Kramer, and Whitford.
My awsome girlfriend bought me the "Music from Another Dimension" album just recently, and yeah, they still sound good just as good as ever. This would make it the 5th album in my collection
same here bro, the 70s wouldve been the coolest teenage life ever. you should do what me and my friends do. everyday day of school we roll into our high school parking lot blaring out Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC etc. It drowns out the rap music, which is QUITE a feat at my school. We do get in trouble sometimes, but its totally worth it.
If you read their book Walk This Way, the bassist Tom Hamilton say they taped this at 10:00 am so they started drinking at 5:00am to be "well prepped" for the show.
In case you didnt know, there's something new happening to most people called "aging" .... that was 40 years ago. Most of them are in their mid/late sixties right now and still sound Amazing, even better than before
I bought the majority of my first Peter Green Fleetwood Mac albums in a used and rarities music store that doesn't exist anymore; the writing except "Fleetwood Mac" was all in chinese! I mean all the song lyrics and everything was in Chinese! I mention this 'Fleetwood Mac" stuff because of the chinese writing in this youtube video of an Aerosmith song;
The original version is from 1951 there is a video of it right here in you tube: TINY BRADSHAW ~ THE TRAIN KEPT A-ROLLIN ~ JULY 25, 1951 Bradshaw also wrote the song with two other guys named Kay & Mann. There were a whole bunch of other acts that covered it before the Yardbirds did the hard-rcok version. Johnny Burnette is another one with a video for Train on you tube.
@StripperPimp I voted this up because I wholeheartedly agree. I don't believe without Aerosmith there would even BE METALLICA! I grew up studying classic rock on the radio in my dad's pickup, I know my rock lineage. I can tell you who Avenged Sevenfold emulates back to the 1960s.e
I have a guitar magazine article called, "Did Aerosmith Get Their Wings". In it they interview Dick Wagner & Ian Hunter (not Mott the Hoople) and they state that they did most if not all the guitar work under secrecy from the label because Perry & company were so coce'd up.That's Dick Wagner's solos on the studio version of Train. They never got a penny for their efforts either.
Without a doubt this is the best version of this song that I've heard...and I've heard them all - the ones by the Yardbirds, Led Zep, Skid Row (yuk), Twisted Sister, etc. And of course the original Bradshaw version. But Aerosmith own this song in a way no one else has been able to.
Joe Perry didn't "noodle." He played "composed" guitar parts, and that's what makes him one of the better players of the 70s. You don't get tired of listening to his parts. Great band with some all-time classic songs.
classic 70's rock vid. Love it. Tyler's still carrying the band at this point, they still have another year till they get that great Asmith sound down. (Perry doesn't play the guitar on the studio version of this & SOSong&Dance.
Argubly the bands best cover (the best according to me) and a really nice clip. Pretty good quality too. There isn't many great Aerosmith clips of good quality here on youtube especially from the 70's (many have probably been deleted) so it's nice to find one. This is going on favorites, surely! I appreciate all of AerosmIth's work but few bands get me rockin' like Classic Aerosmith !
If you want to see and hear the original rock guitarist that played the distortion licks on this song 1956.(covered by this group and others).Search-Paul Burlison..Go down to-Rock and Roll Trio-Part Three..second song..then go to the original cut in 1956..Johnny Burnette..Train Kept Rollin

and i'm not kidding!
Little Richard, Aerosmith, and Wolfman Jack, all in the same fucking video! Holy fucking shit! This is the 70's in a nutshell!!!
Wow...nearly fifty years later...my first time seeing this...I just wonder if they told each other...Fifty tears from now we will still be rocking this world...well they are and still do...thank you Aerosmith...for all the hard work, sacrifices and miles traveled to give us such great music...

Holy shit, I rember seeing this live on TV when I was a kid. This really brings back some cool memories.
ZZ Top opened for them last night in Atlanta.
A great time was had by all [i was born 1954] and many were kids under 12-brought by parents and grandparents.

As I recall, Aerosmith and Led Zepplin collided somewhere off the North Atlantc and Humanity has never been the same. Rock and Roll... :).
Best front man of any American band
I saw them last night at the Boston Garden (July 17, 2012). Best American rock band ever. Hands down.
Today is 8-16-08, 34 years exactly since the date of this show! Great to see the band from the early days!
I was born tomorrow and I listen to this music!
I went to their show in this last month and they played this song!
Amazing!
Great song!
The best Aerosmith video ever
i wish i was born in the 50's... fuck the 21st century i think im like the only kid in my high school that listens to aerosmith it must've been so cool to see them play in their prime
18 people were ran over by The Train that was rollin all night Long. Aerosmith Rules! This song is one of my favs on GH Aerosmith
Good Times!
Not to take anything away from the Yardbirds but this is the best version of this song.
Damn, their band was only 4 years old at this point.
Yet they rocked like they do now.
amazing

I cant help it .......this is my favorite Aerosmith song
In case you didnt know, there's something new happening to most people called "aging" .... that was 40 years ago. Most of them are in their mid/late sixties right now and still sound Amazing, even better than before

This is real rock n roll.
This reminds me of when they were a rock'n' roll band
it is by far the best cover of this song. I also like metallica's cover with jeff beck, joe perry and jimmy page

@PeterMayer Thanks. Couldn't remember who it was, but the leads on that song were amazing.

how awesome it is to see Aerosmith before they became a pop band!
"Erra-Smiff "...haha!
truly,truly,a classic!!
The original version is from 1951 there is a video of it right here in you tube:
TINY BRADSHAW ~ THE TRAIN KEPT A-ROLLIN ~ JULY 25, 1951

I've yet to hear a better version than the Yardbirds read of this Johnny Burnett Classic
i love the end, lol.
@StripperPimp I voted this up because I wholeheartedly agree. I don't believe without Aerosmith there would even BE METALLICA! I grew up studying classic rock on the radio in my dad's pickup, I know my rock lineage. I can tell you who Avenged Sevenfold emulates back to the 1960s.e

i love solos

Nothin' beats 1970's Aerosmith!
i did. cheap trick was really good too
That is exactly how they looked when I saw them in 1974.What a concert !!
Classic rock at it's finest!
that clothes I like it! aerosmith rock!!!
classic 70's rock vid. Love it. Tyler's still carrying the band at this point, they still have another year till they get that great Asmith sound down. (Perry doesn't play the guitar on the studio version of this & SOSong&Dance.
The new album is good and the old still sounds revelant and rocking in this age.
Joey Kramer must be the most underrated drummer ever
Joe Perry wearing a gold coke straw around his neck on the Midnight Special! LOL
they only played it live on the 68-70 years, search for it here on TH-cam there are lot of versions.
Holy Fuck Little Richard.
They will always be the best!!!
I remember reading that this performance incinerated every other rock band within a 50 mile radius of the stage.
priceless.
You're certainly welcomed to your opinion, but there's a ton of great energy from these guys and this sounds awesome!
Argubly the bands best cover (the best according to me) and a really nice clip. Pretty good quality too. WHY DOES EVERYBODY SAY AEROSMITH SUCKS NOW? THEY ARE THE SAME PEOPLE BUT WITHOUT DRUGS AND NOW THEYRE JUST OLDER!
BEST VERSION OF THIS SONG!!!!
@Beatleboy62 oh no, maybe i didn't explain myself, i didn't see them in 1971, i listened to a bootleg of them live in 1971.
Oh snap! Joe's lead made my big toe shoot up through my boot!
muy buena cancion
aah man, just love it, amazing performance, thanks for posting
they rock!!!!! tyler sounds a little bit like deep purple's gillan here
My mom had that same outfit that Little Richard was wearing only difference was it was green. Otherwise it was exactly the same.
You misunderstand, I mean Ozzy is basically immortal. Few musicians have the kind of vigor he does at that age.
If you want to see and hear the original rock guitarist that played the distortion licks on this song 1956.(covered by this group and others).Search-Paul Burlison..Go down to-Rock and Roll Trio-Part Three..second song..then go to the original cut in 1956..Johnny Burnette..Train Kept Rollin
aerosmith rules
no, the yardbirds version is a cover too, it's originally by bradshaw in 1951, first rock version by burnett and the rock n roll trio
