      You can, and you will enjoy it. But I had one and it works better if you drive it hard. Shifts much better in higher revs an heel and toe works better because your feet is deeper into the pedals. Plus its pretty grippy, and it wont start 'talking' to you until you get to 80% of the grip. Another thing, no powersteering, at higher speeds the steering is nice and light.

    • @argh1989
      @argh1989 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'll note that the whining sound is tied to engine RPM. That's the (belt-driven) cooling fan, not the gearbox.

  • @joshmindek4840
    @joshmindek4840 4 ปีที่แล้ว +160

    Driving slow cars fast seems to be more rewarding at least on public streets. With many modern sports cars, or even just average cars with decent horsepower, a few seconds on the throttle puts you at arrest-able speeds pretty quickly.

      And that's the reason why cars like the GT86 are perfect; light weight and insanely good handling. The 300hp hot hatches get boring as fast as they are in a straight line.

    I got to drive an original "infamous" 4 speed 3.3 Turbo, plus a mechanical fuel injection 2.7 Carrera, for a few years in my late teens and early 20s as a close friend's father had one of each and used to let me drive them (such a wonderfully intelligent, fascinating, kind and generous man).
    Both the 2.7 and the turbo were amazing cars for their times, utterly unlike anything 'normal'. As you said, the Carrera was fun because it was light yet absolutely zippy with that high revving engine. The Turbo was really Jekyll and Hyde stuff, frankly sluggish up to 3,000rpm then it took off with a feeling as though someone had lit off a rocket out the back.
    I was Incredibly lucky, and they remain precious memories.
