Second bird , you were late on the whistle when the dog started right. First bird you should have handled to get the dog to come straight into the water on the return. To prevent or certainly reduce those big hunts on the first bird, seed the area with bumpers, and make sure the thrower throw into the seeded area.
You’re right. I was late on both of those whistles. This was a couple years ago and I was a lot less experienced then. Hopefully I am a lot better now.
