+Reg Sparkes The feller buncher does a great job topping and limbing and saves the cost of an extra man with a chainsaw. Casey Keller has just bought a 'forwarder' which transports logs from the bush to landing... no skidder required. Well that's the plan. I hope to soon have a video on the new equipment in operation. Thanks for watching and commenting Reg.
I love that you are recording things like this. I live in the area, as you know, and I have never seen the whole process, just the trucks loaded with wood. Good stuff.
+reelimpact Thanks Lois. I'm happy to help show and promote our local area especially efforts of hardworking, risk taking individuals. Logging, one time the economic backbone of the local economy is not what it was. But as we see it is still employing people. Readers interest: Lois is editor/publisher of www.madawaskahighlander.ca/ a very popular, local newspaper which celebrates cottage and country life in Madawaska & Addington Highlands of Eastern Ontario. It is an eclectic mix of stories and photos from pioneer days to present times. It's on-line. I guarantee hours of quality, interesting reading.
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does someone know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost my login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me.
really good video, you put it together very well and it shows the process nicely. much better than my usual videos. your operators handle the equipment with respect.
thanks for the vid, george ross. intresting way of cutting to length. seems fast and all straight to the stack, no picking small lengths in the woods, and less damage to tracks as theres is no 20 ton plus fowarder loaded and rutting the tracks. thanks from jason in mid wales in u.k.
+TheWildYam The final stage is hauling the wood to a pulp mill, sawmill & firewood processing plant. The truck is equipped with a grapple loader, eliminating the need for a loader on the landing. Thanks for watching.
Nice operation not sure where you are located , If you are in Ontario though any idea where I could get parts for a 440 B John Deere skidder I inherited . I would really like a couple used 18.4-26 tires till I see how it works . I got a small mixed hardwood bush with this too maybe cut me some firewood , I heat with save buying and clean up some bush roads again nice video .
Hi guys! So, which technique is still better, John Deere, or Tiger cat? I'm from Russia, and I really hope for your opinion, because I want to buy equipment for work in Russia. Thank you for the video. All the guys have success in their work, and all the best, the best.
I know it's easy for someone to say how your doing it wrong or i would have done it different sitting here on computer. Im not going to do that ,but i am going to ask you a question. Do you not think a track feller buncher and like a 2154 with processor head on it would yield a lot more production?
probably too big and cumbersome to run through the hilly, wooded terrain. what looks like new england hardwoods. this setup is the most common in northeast hardwoods, from what i've seen.
me being grown up around feller bunchers and forestry equipment processor heads are not cheap and they can handle the rocky and hilly terrain in Ontario
+Joshua Smith Hi Joshua. The Kellers do not own a sawmill or shingle mill. It's a tough way to make a living. Right now with the Canadian dollar the way it is Canadian forest products are attractive to American buyers. The pulp mill in Trenton is doing more business. Klayton owns and operates a firewood processor. th-cam.com/video/my32mftc_V0/w-d-xo.html
Its interesting. We are so different. Does anyone knows how many cubic meters of wood they do here in one month? I just want to compare. Over there is for one harvestor and forwarder monthly norm around 1600-2000 m3. If thinks go well and nothink breaks up.
So you cut, delimb, and bunch with the Deere/Rolly? I thought I was the only guy who figured it would work well. You have the exact setup I want. Only have 648 GIII for now. Slasher comes next. Then the big ticket tracked machine.
@effinghamhick I agree with effinghamhick, i ran both a 640G and 640GIII (both cable skidders unlike the one in the video) for years and we worked em pretty hard, no major issues ever they are like sherman tanks. Tigercat and Cat may have better units but ill bet they cost a lot more too. I did here from a fellow logger than the older cats where slow as smoke but i think they fixed that a while back. That being said i do like tigercat's feature where the seat can turn and face the rear. I got out several years ago when the housing market slowed way down and the guy i was working for sold out. Either way my back is still sore from looking back so much I wouldnt turn down the opportunity to try the other rigs, never got the chance.
My old man had two can- cars with gearmatic transmission. He learned logged and died old school! Butt warmers w air conditioning and surround sound:get a job!! A real job!!
Good stuff love denbigh hunting camp there and know w few of the locals miss watching snider run his mill !!
Five years later seeing this for the first time. Great video Sir.
Clean operation, good work there!!!
I could watch an hour of video like this. I especially like the feller delimber at work.....all of the equipment really.

+George Ross Well George, I just subscribed to this so I won't miss any more videos from you,....Cheers!
+Reg Sparkes Thanks again Reg. I might, at most do, 1 or 2 vids a month if there's something of interest going on.
slasher
Great video. Shows all aspects of woods to roadside pile. What an excellent spot of assorted timber!
+darryl sheppard Thanks Darryl. We had hoped to end the video with the truck loading up and heading off but it didn't work out.
Very cool man.be safe.

+George Ross ...And your column is an important part of it.
That slasher unit is neat!
Thanks for sharing ... awesome! Doesn't take any of the magic away from that lumber I pick up at Lowes; just makes the whole process more impressive!
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does someone know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account??

@Shane Zane Instablaster ;)
Great looking video, Nice machines!
awesome machines have seen when Moose hunting ! Plus these guys gave me tips where seen Moose
really good video, you put it together very well and it shows the process nicely. much better than my usual videos. your operators handle the equipment with respect.
+Joe Gaukel Thanks Joe. Yes, a steady pace with expensive machinery makes for greater production & less expensive.
What a blast so awesome !!!!!
Cool video , nice editing bud i like it!
+New England Logger Thanks, appreciate your comment.
looks like you ridge runners know what your doing nice video merry Christmas 2018 !!!

Thanks for uploading. Never seen this type of equipment in action.

Such a clean setup y'all have, i like it.
Thanks for the nice video! Of all the different jobs I've done in the woods I miss the slasher the most. I worked in the u p eh?😉

Nice video that's how you do it
nice gig fellas keep er up stay safe!!!
I've never seen a head like that. It's like a hybrid ctl buncher
I like this little setup you have. I'd really like to try out a processor like that.
What a great job!!
time's has changed for the logging industry, some good, some not so good.Get ready, guys,i know snow will be there in the second or third week of October
cool stuff guys ! merry christmass !
Hey George, thats a cool operation you have there. That log slasher you're using, would you mind telling who makes it? Thanks George!

We have a cat 320 c with a Waratah 622b and we bunch up to 35% grade sometimes
Pff old techniques
Nice machines the Kellers have. Do they own a sawmill or cedar shingle mill? Great scenery. Cheers!

+Oldtimer f7 Good luck with your efforts. Wish you every success !
That processor is very inefficient. A bar saw processor head like a waratah or ponsse head is much faster.
great video. Is John Deere any better than Tigercat or is it just user preference
John Deere is shit and you will never see on in bc, there hogs too
I agree I would rather have a caterpillar or a tiger cat
@effinghamhick I agree with effinghamhick, i ran both a 640G and 640GIII (both cable skidders unlike the one in the video) for years and we worked em pretty hard, no major issues ever they are like sherman tanks. this is the same way we used to cut pulpwood on the farm except without all the machinery.
i just want one of these so I can take it up the jeep trail and piss everybody off.
i want to winch trees using the skidder's grapple and chains. any comments would be appreciated, thank you guys!!

What’s the intro song I’m curious?
Hunter wow
