    Using a monitor as a hub is a really nice idea.
    Could be improved if the Display had a usb port or bluetooth to bundle all the inputs together, because some people also use Webcams, and not everyone wants to buy a Bluetooth multi device keyboard and mouse.
    Then have a small pad on the display (prob on the base) to tap when switching controls.

    There is a newer model of this. My organization uses Microsoft Teams. For screen sharing on Teams, can you share only one screen if you have two or more opened on the display, or will Teams display the whole monitor? I want to buy this. I have a 27" dell with 2k res and i think this has the perfect ppi for my daily use with 100% scaling. My question is if on this 43", that has approximately the same ppi ( 109 vs 103 ), has the same sharpness over icons,fonts etc. Now i'm not too sure what to buy between this and 32" inch 4k (U3219Q). On 32" i'll have to use like 125%,150% scaling.

      Not an easy choice. There is a huge fan base on the U43 but it lacks KVM. I would go with the U32 with KVM. If KVM is not important to you I would go with the U43. Either way they are both excellent choices.

    Mike, gotta say this was very well presented- to the point no bs. Maybe you have found a new calling in reviewing products. What are your thoughts on two separate 27" monitors side by side or would you be happy with this setup; 43" with PbP?

    • @MichaelOHanian
      @MichaelOHanian  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you Ozzie! I do these for fun and I am surprised anyone watches them . Got bored with COVID lock down and one of my colleagues suggested I tape one of my "play sessions". I love to get my hands dirty and play with the new technology. Nevertheless, back to your question. There is nothing wrong with two 27", and a lot of people prefer it over a single curved display. Usually because some applications like to dominate a full screen even if you have a screen carved up by software (like Dell Display Manager). However, if I was given the choice between two 27's or the U4320Q I would go with the U4320Q. Why? I love the vertical and horizontal height, PnP/PbP, KVM, and it is 5K'ish.

      One downside to the U43 is that it doesn't have a KVM built into it. In the video I was using the Dell Multi-device Wireless Keyboard and Mouse combo (KM7120W) to switch back-and-forth. The KM7120W can connect up to 3 PC. If you wanted to do 4 PC's on the the U43 you would have to get a KVM to do that.

    Hey Michael. Many thanks for your review, my wife has ordered this exact model (We watched your video first, so was very helpful. I have a question you may be able to answer... Would the USB A ports be able to utilize a keyboard and mouse dongle/reciever ? Just curious as to this working. It would be great to just plug in one cable via the USB C for display + charging and not have to use adaptors for the dongles as the Dell XPS laptop only has USB C ports. I hope all this makes sense ! We are living in New Zealand and Dell have given us an estimated delivery time of two months ! We paid $1700 NZD. The selling point for us was the USB C charging and display option (we hate cables) and crisp 4k screen, also the support we have recieved from Dell has been amazing so far. We also have a 49" curved monitor which is great for productivity. Take care and hope to here from you. Kindest regards Ron.

    • @MichaelOHanian
      @MichaelOHanian  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Ron, Thank you for choosing Dell! You can. The PC you have connected via the USB-C port can utilize the USB-A downstream port on the display. However, this display does not have KVM built into it. So connecting a second or third PC to the monitor will not be able to utilize that USB-A downstream port for the second and third PC. In the video I used the Dell Multi-Device wireless mouse and keyboard KM7321W. I connect one pc via the wireless USB-A adapter connected to the displays USB-A downstream port. The other PC I connected the mouse and keyboard via Blue Tooth. If you are doing two or more PC's connected to this display I highly recommend the KM7321W. I did a TH-cam video on this mouse and keyboard: th-cam.com/video/3vXMpJBQsIM/w-d-xo.html

    Hi Michael,
    I have a question on whether Dell would consider adding a PBP configuration that allows 3 input sources: one input in a portrait 1280 x 2160 resolution, two inputs in landscape in 2560 x 1080 configuration.
    Basically having two “ultrawide” monitors besides a vertical monitor.
    I adopted this configuration virtually using PowerToys and I found it very useful. I figured it would be useful in a split screen configuration.
    I was wondering if it could be added in the future in a future version of the 43in 4K monitors or maybe in the current ones via firmware?

    Lack of KVM is disappointing. The other issues I've read is brightness is low 1000:1; the other issue if you move the monitor further back on your desk due to size it may be too far to get a bluetooth connection for you keyboard/mouse. A 16:10 gives you much more vertical space and less scrolling is required and it’s much more productive. It is the max it will charge. The XPS17, depending on the configuration you have, may need more than 90W. In that case, it will slow charge the system. If you were to push the XPS17 hard, it is possible that you would use more power than you are replacing in the battery and at some point you will run out of battery (system would shut down). It will not hurt the system.

    Hey Michael great video, I've been looking for this shortcut switch feature for a while, currently own 2x Dell u2715h and a single 32 benq that has a physical switch between 3 computers. Love the picture quality in the 2 ultrasharp 27, I'm looking to upgrade to something with the same picture quality and color accuracy and this easy switch, I have 2 Mac and 2 pcs the only monitors that do match the color quality of my Mac laptop display so far are the u2715h, that's a must have for me.
    Questions:
    -Would the keyboard shortcut screen switch between devices you shown work on Mac? Pc?
    -would the color accuracy be as good as the one in my u2715h in either the u3220 or the u4320 mentioned in video/comments? if not, what Lineup of dell would be best in ppi quality and color accuracy but also have this switch feature. I needed help convincing myself to buy this monitor so I looked it up on TH-cam and found your video. Your explanations were clear and brief. I get annoyed when I have to skim through a product video that's 20 minutes long. Initially I wanted to buy the thunderbolt dock station with two monitors but the dock station on the Dell website reports it won't arrive for 2 months. So I looked into larger screens that would eliminate the need for two monitors and the dock station. I thought the Dell U4320Q 43" 4k display would just help with multitasking. This video made me aware of all the other functionalities this display has to offer; the dell display manager (uhm, how did I not know about this?), ability to charge your laptop, and can connect to (as well as display) more than one computer at the same time. Also, I didn't even know how useful the Dell Multi Device Wireless Mouse & Keyboard was so I added that to my purchase. I just wish the keyboard was backlit. Thanks so much for this helpful video. I also subscribed. Looking forward to more content that you upload!

      Hey nice vid on the U4323QE model and it’s usability. Maybe you can answer my simple questions, I asked on Dell’s website and got a generic cut and paste answer about the opposite of what I was asking. Question 1: is there any aftermarket kit to be able to rotate these into portrait view, utilizing the original stand? Question 2: how could Dell not think we would to be able to use these in portrait view and why not give us the ability to do so? Question 3: (this is the one I asked and got the opposite answer on) if I have multiples of these can each one have it’s own input device such as it’s own mouse. Or to say can I plug a mouse directly to the monitor will it work independent of the PC and it’s input devices?
      To give you more details on the setup I want to setup. Day Trading Futures or Stocks, three of these units horizontal, the center monitor would be used for active watch, study, and execution. The other two, one on each side would be other instruments I’m following but not actively trading at the moment, but want to be able to quickly glance at them without switching my main execution screen, or having to move one input device from the main execution screen to the others if I wanted to click a chart to enlarge it or change any parameters of the chart. So could the secondary monitors have there own mouse or even keyboard or StreamDeck for HotKey inputs?
      Let me know and it’s would be nice if I had a more direct way of contacting your with other questions and ideals to improve Dells producers for the traders in need.

Can I set this up to switch via a keyboard shortcut hot key? As in, two computers connected to the monitor, and I want to work on one, then the other, how easy is the switch between the two?

      Thank you Peter! The U4320Q does not have built in KVM so I used Dell Display Manager to program keys to switch between computers and I used the Dell Multi-Mouse and Keyboard to switch the PC's they were controlling. I used Control+Alt+H to switch to the "Home PC" being on the display. Then I used the buttons on my Multi PC mouse and keyboard to switch to the same "Home PC". Jumping back I would do a Control+ALT+W to jump back to the "Work PC" and then do the same on the mouse and keyboard. Once you have it set up it is very easy and quick to jump back and forth.

I currently use a 32:9 , 49" Dell and I love it and I split the screen lots of windows but I cannot make any of them play full screen video in its own section. Thanks John! If you are running at 30Hz is usually is an issue with the graphic card on your system. If you don't have a discrete GPU (vs integrated GPU) your systems may not have enough GPU to display that much at 60Hz. Second question: Personally I prefer the U40 Wide. I used the U4320Q for my personally work use for a few months. The issue I had is my desk seat was too short and my eye level was in the middle of the display This had me looking up all day. Eye level should be at the top of the display. If I had a taller desk seat it would have been a harder decision.
