Much love for Sev... Hello have you heard about @polsenseth debut single? It’s called “Organic” 🐌 he started working in this project about five years ago and he said it’s one of the most beautiful thing he has ever done. Please check for: Seth Polsen - Organic on TH-cam to watch the premiere today. Also available on Apple Music and very very soon on Spotify.

I keep scrolling the comments for the legend so y'all know what the title is referring to. Loved Sevdaliza for years and was just watching this Turkish show (the gift) and did a google search for half woman half snake and Sevdaliza was mentioned in the wikipedia page. Here is one version of the legend: Shahmaran is a mythical creature, half woman and half snake, the first human she encounters is a young man named Camasb (also known as Yada Jamsab, Jamisav in other versions of the story).[2][3] Camasb gets stuck in a cave after he tries to steal honey with a few friends, his friends leave him alone in the cave.[2] He decides to explore the cave and finds a passage to a chamber that looks like a mystical and beautiful garden with thousands of off-white colored snakes and the Shahmaran living together harmoniously.[2][4] At this point Shahmaran and Camasb fall in love and live in the cave chamber, and the Shahmaran teaches him about medicines and medicinal herbs.[2] Camasb misses living above ground and wants to leave, he tells the Shahmaran he will not share the secret of her living there.[2] Many years pass. The king of the town of Tarsus becomes ill and the vizier discovers the treatment of his condition requires the Shahmaran flesh.[4] Camasb tells the towns people where Shahmaran lives, according to the legend Shahmaran says, “blanch me in an earthen dish, give my extract to the vizier, and feed my flesh to the sultan.”[4] They bring her to the town and kill her in a bath called, "Şahmaran Hamam".[2] The king eats her flesh and lives, the vizier drinks the extract and dies.[2][4] Camasb drinks the water of Shahmaran and becomes a doctor, by gaining the Shahmaran's wisdom.[2][4] en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shahmaran Thinking bout how she was killed for her knowledge because of a man she loved and trusted... AND TO WHAT END? To save men who enslave other men...? ... And Now This song gives me all the feels... Thank You Sevdaliza 💜
So this tall girl with dark hair goes to my shop and buys something and as I'm helping her we talk about her blonde eyebrows and she's so dope and down to earth. Little did I know at that moment that she was this super talented and artistic human being. And I even asked her for her social media and she followed me 😳. Sevdaliza I have new found respect for you, you are so humble and chill. And you've just gained a new fan and admirer !!!!!!! 💛
She won me over with her videos, I stayed for her magical voice and personality. TH-cam showed me similar artists and now I have a whole new creative, dramatic, beautiful, and ethereal world. This video is the best yet. It looks like the beginning of a great career in cinematography and the expansion of her sublime imagination to the entire world. God bless her in her endeavors. We are not just human though, we are spirit beings, so keep that in your heart as you proceed onward. Love to you Sevdaliza.

That's a great interpretation. For me what I got from this video is that they keep trying to do something that is impossible and useless, and when they try to free themselves they end up dead in "the desert" because of the "fata morgana", aka the illusions of a directionless life. This could be a metaphor for modern life generally, and also addictions.
TY2020 yes actually I agree with you but also I think Sevdaliza chosen this specific name / place “Shahmaran” to say something (more), also they’re all African Americans which I think is more about capitalism and the way of materialistic lifestyle which became like a new religion in this planet (the American dream ..etc) .. also surely this could be more deeper, these just an interruptions after all 😄🌚💛
The piano sample at 0:44 comes from “le coucou au fond des bois” It’s a mouthful but this song is worth the search! It’s actually a beautiful piano piece and I love how she made it her own
As a Saint-Saëns fan this jumps out at you. I love how you can hear the cuckoo in this version as well, and in the end again more in the form of an alarm bell. Fantastic stuff.
Yes!! I was looking for this comment; I am a ballerina and I performed the cuckoo variation from le carnival de animeux; when I first heard this song it blew me away
yeah definitely I didn't know she was half persian but as soon as I heard this, I was like is she iranian? this makes me feel proud since female singers are very restricted in our own country
Oh my god I've been watching this for 3 days trying to get it and now I just can't stop crying. I am wracked with sobs. This is the most beautiful, passionate, and deep representation of oppression I've ever seen. Dragging along something that needs WATER, when you know damn good and well that YOU need it. So you wisen up and let go of that thing, to go search for water for yourself. And society tells you 'HERE! You've finally made it! look at all the things you have to assist in that!' To wisen up only to be fooled again. A mirage of water in a diamond encrusted cup is almost crueler then not understanding that you need it for you, and not for your things. To realize that you need the water, weary on your journey to find it and surrounded by hard earned treasures that others died trying to find. To fall into it with your last breathe in a golden palace, thinking you will finally, FINALLY be sated and fulfilled. Only to realize your mistake as you shatter the mirage, and slip into death from lack of the very thing you thought you had.
"You promised us paradise." That resonates deep in my soul for some reason. The audio and visual embodiment of enlightenment: when the man released the bondage and went in search of the essential need to sustain his life; water. Not all the materialistic things we seek. Paradise can't be bought. Wow! This is an absolutely SPECTACULAR piece of art! I feel like I should be watching this in the Louvre or the Metropolitan. There are so many ways that I'm connecting to this. This is just..... SUBLIME. 🕉❤🔥
Oh, I saw it differently. I saw him choosing sex but instead getting trapped in the liquid because he chose wrong. I also saw how there weren't many options to choose from. I was hoping to see a book (for education ), but for some... those are or what seems to be the only options personified in real life.
The only thing about Sevdaliza is she's intense. When i listen to her work, i want to experience the whole body of it, sound visuals, everything. A few minutes of listening is not nearly enough.

What a simple but visually mind-blowing way to tell such a PROFOUND message. Seriously, I am so grateful for you because you are way ahead of you time & peers. You bring something so pure & original to a recycled trap. Desert flower !
This woman is seriously underrated. DAMN. This is really powerful stuff, both the music itself and the artistry in the narrative she is creating, WELL DONE

AVANGUARDIA. Mirror of society and motivating for all the humanity to break the chains and to find our individuality. Very powerful message and Always current. Inspirational. Love from Italy.
For anyone wondering about the piano part, it's 'cuckoo in the depths of the woods' by camille saint saens. Pretty sure she sampled some of that. Bevause it's literally the same part
There's a hole in my heart when I'm listening to Sevdaliza's use of the sample, because it doesn't include the 'cu-ckoo' sound which I'm so used to when hearing these piano chords, hahaha
@@arthurlecomte8950 hearing shahmaran many times before discovering the original, I have the opposite feeling, expecting her voice to join in at any moment but instead its the bird
Saint Jude Haha, that’s funny ain’t it. How we get so used to what we listen. I grew up listening to the original because Saint-Saens’ ‘Carnival of the Animals’ was on all these ‘Classical Music for Kids’ cd’s, so that’s even harder to cope with. But I have heard Sevdaliza’s song enough times now to both love it. She used it in a beautiful artistic way.
i just discovered her yesterday and I am blown away. TH-cam was playing at random and when I heard this song I was like....who is singing ? who is the artist ? just blown away. reminds me so much of massive attack. very talented woman indeed.
“It’s the story of the black man, who continues life in a cycle of oppression. The modern chains on black men today are the aspirations of decadence, power, and success that create a false sense of autonomy and freedom. This leaves them victim of addictions to power and materialism, unable to venture outside what is “expected” of their behavior. This is visible in the strong symbolic nature of the work, reflected in both the visual and the music. It’s a stylized parable world that shares an almost biblical semantic.”
I think it’s like people try to get themselves out of hardships and be free only to enslave themselves in materialistic things that don’t matter to the soul again “killing themselves “ and not becoming free at all .

He broke free... and forgeting his freedom, still became a slave. He encountered a "mirage" of freedoms & power... forgetting he was already FREE.... we witnessed his choice and exposure of enternal lust, via his submission to mental enslavement. Our lives are a result of the choices we have made. "What have you chosen to become a slave to?" Let's all choose to embrace that we are already free! :::Just MY interpretation; not a definite meaning.::::
I think the beginning shows one chasing a dream/lost focus in life, broke free and became the awakening, then ... ending scene given 3 choices which path shall you choose, wealth/money, power/cruelty, love/lust....? do the math only one makes sense if you ask your inner desires. no slavery or enslavement here. i never heard of slaves wearing bling blings LOL! maybe the artistic message is ..follow your own heart & instinct?
@@dracwulaThe reason you misunderstood what I wrote is because you changed the word "slave" to mean what "you" "think" of. I'm not you. I mean the word "slave" the way it is defined; NOT what ever imagery "your" mind created. If 233 others understood what I said... there is a strong possiblilty you did not read it through correctly. I said nothing about the "slaves" that came to your mind. Peace and light unto you.
@@tracylunamoss3943 Thank you. Art is art... there is no right or wrong... Our life experiences and paradigms will often reflect our mental vision/how we see things. Love, light and gratitude to you!
I still watch this, like once a week... I think it's my favourite music video - I love how it's like he understands that the things she offer him is other forms of "slavery" so he chooses death. Well, my interpretation. I wish that mechanical part was in the song on the album!
I love your music so much and i can't get over the fact that it sounds like expedition music and what i mean is a hard journey through the desert to final relief by surviving through it all. I wish you were performing her in san antonio.
this video still speaks volumes... one of the most captivating things about this song is that, while it's in a 4/4 time signature, there's something about the stoptime that makes it sound as if the last quarter of each measure is in 5/4 during one of the verses and the refrain -- i'm not a musician so my knowledge is limited, but it gives something extra to this already phenomenal song
I found Sevdaliza’s music by chance in 2015 and that was for me one of the very few times I could pip into the future . She still never disappoints nowadays
Seeing it for the 3119th time and it's still mind blowing. The feelings are actually getting stronger every time I see it again.. This is witchcraft, or extraterrestrial powers, or something words just can't grasp.

Yes!! I was looking for this comment; I am a ballerina and I performed the cuckoo variation from le carnival de animeux; when I first heard this song it blew me away
Thank you. I have to learn to play this.
Sevdaliza + FKA Twigs NEED IT
I swear I've been thinking that for the last couple of days after the release of Cellophane and Martyr
Mhmmmmmm!
Brooo I jUst came from FKA twigs and thought the same haha soo true
sevdaliza put M3LL1SX cover on instagram stories a few weeks ago.

The melody sounds Iranian , it’s beautiful how she connects with her culture 😍
arabic not iranian
It's Arabic that's obvious !
yeah definitely I didn't know she was half persian but as soon as I heard this, I was like is she iranian?
this makes me feel proud since female singers are very restricted in our own country
The piano is from the French composer Camille Saint-Saens in The Cuckoo in the Depths of the Woods
@@rodrigozancanaro140 man ! Camille is the most underrated composer because he's not been as sampled as he should've been, so it's a great thing!!!
Only to realize your mistake as you shatter the mirage, and slip into death from lack of the very thing you thought you had.
thank you so so much for your analysis

"You promised us paradise." That resonates deep in my soul for some reason. The audio and visual embodiment of enlightenment: when the man released the bondage and went in search of the essential need to sustain his life; water. Not all the materialistic things we seek. Paradise can't be bought. Wow! This is an absolutely SPECTACULAR piece of art! I feel like I should be watching this in the Louvre or the Metropolitan. There are so many ways that I'm connecting to this. This is just..... SUBLIME. 🕉❤🔥

I cherish many songs she sings but this has always been my absolute favourite. That instrumental with that voice just teleports you otherwhere. Absolute witch of a performer
This give me ancient Egypt vibes and I’m loving it.💕
I love when music videos are artistic and tell a story.
Entranced is an understatement. This is the perfect balance of beautiful music and breathtaking cinematography.
Shahmaran is a mythical creature, half woman and half snake, the first human she encounters is a young man named Camasb (also known as Yada Jamsab, Jamisav in other versions of the story). Camasb gets stuck in a cave after he tries to steal honey with a few friends, his friends leave him alone in the cave. He decides to explore the cave and finds a passage to a chamber that looks like a mystical and beautiful garden with thousands of off-white colored snakes and the Shahmaran living together harmoniously. At this point Shahmaran and Camasb fall in love and live in the cave chamber, and the Shahmaran teaches him about medicines and medicinal herbs. Camasb misses living above ground and wants to leave, he tells the Shahmaran he will not share the secret of her living there. Many years pass.
The king of the town of Tarsus becomes ill and the vizier discovers the treatment of his condition requires the Shahmaran flesh. Camasb tells the towns people where Shahmaran lives, according to the legend Shahmaran says, “blanch me in an earthen dish, give my extract to the vizier, and feed my flesh to the sultan.” They bring her to the town and kill her in a bath called, "Şahmaran Hamam". The king eats her flesh and lives, the vizier drinks the extract and dies. Camasb drinks the water of Shahmaran and becomes a doctor, by gaining the Shahmaran's wisdom.

How could this be possible? I just discovered Sevdaliza. You're a real artiste. Thank you for your wonderful job.
this song is really an art, the texutre, the quality, the level of details 😍
This is pure art.
For anyone wondering about the piano part, it's 'cuckoo in the depths of the woods' by camille saint saens. Pretty sure she sampled some of that. Bevause it's literally the same part
Thank you so much. I never would have known that if you hadn't commented!
Thank you so much, I just discovered one piece I might like forever :)

This is my favourite song of hers and I was so lucky to see her perform Shahmaran live; it was an experience I will never forget
I love this interpretation!

He broke free... and forgeting his freedom, still became a slave.
He encountered a "mirage" of freedoms & power... forgetting he was already FREE.... we witnessed his choice and exposure of enternal lust, via his submission to mental enslavement.
Our lives are a result of the choices we have made.
"What have you chosen to become a slave to?"
Let's all choose to embrace that we are already free!
:::Just MY interpretation; not a definite meaning.::::
It's the only one that explains the ending
I think the beginning shows one chasing a dream/lost focus in life, broke free and became the awakening, then ... ending scene given 3 choices which path shall you choose, wealth/money, power/cruelty, love/lust....? do the math only one makes sense if you ask your inner desires.
no slavery or enslavement here. i never heard of slaves wearing bling blings LOL!
maybe the artistic message is ..follow your own heart & instinct?
I luv your interpretation...and would closely agree
@@dracwulaThe reason you misunderstood what I wrote is because you changed the word "slave" to mean what "you" "think" of. I'm not you. I mean the word "slave" the way it is defined; NOT what ever imagery "your" mind created. If 233 others understood what I said... there is a strong possiblilty you did not read it through correctly. I said nothing about the "slaves" that came to your mind. Peace and light unto you.

I love everything about this song. Gave me goosebumps just listening to it. Love from Kenya 🇰🇪
