Every tip you post on this channel is gold. Great vid as always. I was just thinking about my kickflips and that problem is always what causes my board to fly out in front of me.
you're kicking your front foot too hard as well, try and think you're kickflipping with your knee instead of your foot, raise that knee well up in the air and open it outwards a little, and forget about the foot flicking entirely, you'll see how this will improve your flips
Thanks for posting this Norman, after skating for over a decade I've noticed that this thing made my progression much slower. I get used to it so much that the only way to correct this is to constantly focus to keep my weight of front foot. I'd highly recommend this to all beginners because this can greatly affect their progression and feeling for the board. BTW I've wondered why my shoes are not ripping so fast while flicking the board as most others do, maybe that's the clear indicator for many that they are leaning backwards. I also hope that things in LA will get under control soon.
Your videos are beyond helpful man, they're priceless. I started landing ollies last year because of one of your older tip vids, and just the other day I saw this and said, "hm.. I think I'm leaning forward enough, but let's just see". Went out, really focused in on keeping my upper body sort of ahead of my legs during and after the pop (afterwards being the key, I was leaning forward before and right at the pop but realized I would then straighten myself out in the air while trying to level the ollie), and holy shit man. Immediate difference in height, super leveled/tail sucked right up to my back foot, and WAY more stability and balance in the landing. This was the key for helping me to start actually ollieing OVER things with way more confidence. We do not deserve you bro 🙏💜
Lately I feel like the more I practice ollie'ing as high as I can, which usually involves sucking my legs into my chest and probably not going as high as I think I'm going to go, and they're not perfect. The obstacle I'm usually practicing on is a taller manual pad, and I can ollie on but unless I've been practicing manuals on the smaller one earlier that day it's not going to happen that I'll land into a manual. Not yet anyway. But I have noticed that my more casual ollies sort of are suffering at some moments, and I've come to the conclusion that it is a different technique altogether. The ollies I have now feel a bit 'exaggerated' like I'm gonna try to grab my board, and I feel self-conscious about them looking so all the time, so I always feel that for real, but the smaller ones always feel like unless I rocket them, I am either trying to push myself into one side of the board or the other and it almost feels like when I try to do a higher kickflip but I know if I let it stick to my feet and move more in front of me, it's going to be weird and not it... the ollies where I crouch in the air feel like they have become easy. But I can barely ollie over a twig without the ollie turning kinda, except it's turning more away from me maybe...? I have become used to feeling sort of parallel with the board in the middle of an ollie, but I still don't always get a good pop. It's usualy just 'enough' to clear the obstacle, I don't really know why... because I can jump higher than that, and ollie. Maybe I need more control of the ollie yet. But the idea of them being almost 2 different kinds of ollies seemed like a cool concept to me. Maybe I am jumping backwards to ollie too! A tip that helped me once is that your knees have to come up in front of you, or you end up doing the flamingo leg... but sometimes I wanna dress-down the ollie and it can be weird despite knowing all this. Also I saw about the fires, really sorry about the air quality and your voice. I would still probably drink like some hot chamomile tea and honey or something. Linden teas also have a nice consistensy to them. The leaf kind releases this nice filmy stuff haha. Non caffeine tea is generally soothing. Also when I've kinda burned my throat, a little cbd has helped me cure it but maybe that's not for everyone. I'll never complain about florida humidity again...
😮 dude thanks ! I was watching skater IQ on something like this but I just couldn't get it, I mean I did but his wording is confusing, plus I'm about your size so it makes more sense

Thank you 🙏🏾 I try to use issues I see, and experience, and share my methods. Glad to be useful.

Stay safe out there man! It's a wild world we're living in.
Be safe out there man, wish the best of news from your friends!!
I'm finally glad I can relate to tall skater.
Before I watch this video I'm gonna say that its appreciated big time. Leaning back when I pop has held me back for a bit of time now.

Appreciated the BLT toothpick metaphor that is actually really helpful.

I’ll have to address the rest of your comment later. But, Florida humidity is still AWFUL 😂
