RIP Norton. I used to check him out with his band in the 70's. Amazing player. I have those first two vinyl albums and will never let them go... until I am also resting like Norton. Cheers.
couldn't agree more, Loving in the Valley of the Moon....killer album....Norton also knows hgow to pick the best musicians !!gotta love that voice ! no other like it anywhere...
Back in '98, all my Norton Buffalo was lost in a basement flood at my old home. This amazing video is the reason that I'm heading out 1st thing tomorrow and picking up any and all of the Norton Buffalo I can find. I used to love him and now this video makes me realize I still do!
Roy used to play my high school dances in the late 60's/early 70's with his first band, 4 Way Stop at Benicia High School. One of Vallejo's favorite sons & the finest slide guitarist ever. I saw his 40th birthday gig with the Delta Rhythm Kings at Slims in S.F. many years ago.
I heard Norton Buffalo when he first started with Steve Miller and I was hooked. An amazing harmonic player and singer. Went out and got his LPs. and played them alot. Was very sad to hear of his passing in 2009, such a loss of his tallent.
I agree Zoogyltd, this song is very reflective of the current times. I've been a Norton Buffalo fan for years and my brother gave me the album (R&B - very punny) this came from for Christmas sometime in the 90s. I love how Rogers and Buffalo's voices blend. Both great musicians too. Too bad they haven't released more albums.
Pure musical magic, that's what these two great Bluesmen always delivered. So glad & privileged that I got to see them "Live" several times. Truly sad though that I'll never get to see them on stage anymore. Sure miss Norton. Thankfully we have videos and recordings of this fabulous collaboration. For that reason I thank you for posting this.
Was fortunate to see Norton Buffalo and Steve Miller share the stage with the Dead at Buckeye Lake in July of '92. Earlier that summer I saw Miller and James Cotton on harmonica sit in with them in Chicago. Lot of heads didn't get the Steve Miller connection but he definitely added to the mix.
What an outstanding crew shakin things down- GREAT song. First became aware of this nugget through The Jerry Garcia Band rippin thru it every third show or so. Ole Fatty sure knew great music and it's provenance. LOVE the VIDEO, it's KILLER!
Brother, you were so kind and considerate to my friends, the Turks, who came to see you often at the Freight and Salvage in their wheel chairs. You always had something to laugh about. I hope you're still laughing. You are the greatest!
in reply to thompsonlake..I have the aforementioned book circa 1980..N. Buffalo's name is very briefly mentioned (once) in a book of 125 pages filled with musical transcriptions. I bought and enoyed his album Loving in the valley of the moon" back around then. This is the first I've heard of him since,"sameness" comes to mind " the most well rounded...player in history etc"? I do like the guys stuff (whitebread can be edifying too) but really now, maybe you need to get out a little more?
If you want to be entertained by costumes and show, go watch Cher videos. If you want virtuoso performance and mastery of instruments you've come to the right place.

I had the opportunity to play with Norton a few times while on tour in Montana. It was an experience I still remember quite well. He is sorely missed.
RIP Norton, a wonderful harp player and fixture in the bay area music scene. Well done sir.
Always surprised that more people aren’t into this. I’m a fan.

Two incredibly talented players Norton is a harp master and Roy Rogers is redefined slide guitar
Good bye Mr Buffalo.....RIP....we`ll miss you...And thanks for your music.
Ain't no Bread in the Breadbox
Wonderful !! Thank you
Not only that....but the best hats in the business.
i agree with that completely. spirituals are unlike any other type of music
Great song Norton & Roy,
I'm sending you my love, prayers and healing light.
Norton was an original and remaining member in the Steve Miller Band, played his own stuff and paired with Roy; quite a legend.
ya know, he might not be "hollywood" or slick Nashville looking, but ya gotta give him this .....the man has STYLE......
Then why American youth are so great musicians in rock and pop music. Because of small they look to these two great musicians.
RIP Norris Buffalo
Those boys had the groove!
Two greats! RIP Norton....
these guys have to be the best harmonica/guitar duo ever!!
Sonny Taylor and Brownie McGhee actually... But I do love this.
Brother, you were so kind and considerate to my friends, the Turks, who came to see you often at the Freight and Salvage in their wheel chairs. You always had something to laugh about. I hope you're still laughing. You are the greatest!

My sentiment exactly.
Blue eyed soul! oh yea , makes my belly groan ,feeling those hunger pangs, somebody make me a samwich please
Norton was a sweet cat and a shit-hot harp player. He also did the best Walter Brennan impression of anyone I've known.
This is good shit dude 😎
tnkiu, i found it in EMULE, it's the only one of i have
R. I. P.
Awsome..... Harmonicadave
yep
Norton was far too young. He really was one of the best of the blues harp players.
Wow ! 😳
Wow, that's a treasure! Where did you find that? I'm hoping to someday see a video of Norton's band The Stampede from Austin City Limits in 1979.
If this isn't a little slice of heaven... then what is?
Realy enjoy ritme, great for me self an with others together...move on.
Goodbye Norton

hey ya'll .. check out jimmy buffett's son of a son of a sailor
the best Blues duo of all time. Maybe tied for first with Sonny Terry & Brownie McGee. That's a real toss up. Better voices. Killer players.
🚫🍞📦🤑
hah
I love what these guys are doing but Sonny Terry & Brownie McGee came from a different time, place & background. Not a valid comparison ;)
