Why exactly is Reed Richards on here, He, and the rest of fantastic four, dont wear masks and are publicly known. I know Iron Mans the same way but Tony has a full body suit and for the longest time in the comics, cartoons, and in the first movie. No one knew who Iron Man was.
There's kind of a Difference Between Alter Ego and Secret Identity. Course Characters like Batman and Superman can do both. While Reed isn't out saving the world as Mr Fantastic He's working in his lab as Reed Richards

Tex The Slayer no. Maybe you're not familiar with the character. Reed is called Mr Fantastic just as much for his fantastic mind as his powers. Maybe more so.. And he uses his powers in the lab all the time, as well as his genius mind in the field. Reed/Mr Fantastic are one and the same. No alter ego there. I also think he doesn't belong on this list.

Secret ID or Alter Ego it's the same thing which in Reeds case is neither. Yes people call him Mr. Fantastic but his ID is public Knowledge. there is no such thing as an Alter ego with Reed or any of the founding Fantastic Four. Theres no personality shift between him being one or the other. In the movies Iron Man really doesn't have one either after the end of the first movie.

I think we're all forgetting that Superman is Clark Kent's alter ego. Bruce Wayne wakes up as Bruce Wayne, dons the Batsuit, & becomes Batman. Peter Parker wakes up as Peter Parker, dons the red-&-blues, & becomes Spider-Man. Superman wakes up as Superman, dons the tie & glasses, & becomes Clark Kent. Hasn't anyone seen Kill Bill?

Kill Bill got it wrong. Clark Kent is not a disguise. He was raised as Clark Kent for all his life; therefore, he is Clark Kent. If somebody told you that the name you had all your life wasn't your actual birth name, you wouldn't change it! You would keep the name you had for most of your life, as it's what you grew up with.

Look, I might be biased (just look at my profile pic) but Spider-Man basically created what we know as the super-hero alter ego. Before him, Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent acted as simple intermissions in their respective comics while Spider-Man's focused on Peter a little more than his super hero identity. Now, practically all comics fall in suit and give a hero's real identity some real weight because of the ol'webhead's influence on the genre. Also, almost all of the comments are agreeing with my thoughts, so there's that.

I'm sorry, but...Clark Kent gets ranked higher than Peter Parker? I mean, sure the personality is different from Supes, but if anyone actually took a second look at both Kent and Supes, they'd probably figure it out in less than a second.
Hard to say. Depends on what all Supes does to change himself as Clark Kent, there are various things in comics that he has done to differentiate the two.
Iron Man makes it clear that he's Tony Stark and Tony Stark makes it clear that he's Iron Man. Alter ego? THEY ARE ONE PERSONALITY.

I would like to point out that Daredevil's got a pretty cool alter ego. Blind lawyer, only blind because he was saving a blind man from a truck, his dad dying at a young age, keeping the promise that he would become best in class and always doing his best. There's also the plus that, even though he's emotionally distant, he can still be pretty light hearted.
I'm not surprised with their #1 pick. I find it interesting that they had Danny Fenton from Danny Phantom as an honorable mention, that is a very underrated show.

You guys nailed this list. You even used the right Spiderman. Tobey really nailed that part. Christopher Reeves too. He is the only Superman to date that had the right alter ego Clark Kent. He is so goofy that you would never guess him to be Superman, then Chris Reeves nails the Superman part too. Congratulations on a job well done.
BTW guys, Superman's alter ego is hard to recognize because he changes his entire personality, posture and mannerisms.
I was thinking of Shazam's alter ego as a young child.
That is a great one, as Shazam (Captain Marvel) turns from a ten year old boy, to a thirty-something Superman.

Admittedly I am a Batman fanboy but putting that aside and looking at the alter egos I feel Bruce Wayne deserves number 1 because he is by far the most motivated, interesting, and complex person on this list. I can see why others would prefer Peter Parker though. I don't think Clark Kent should be as high bc he is hardly even an alter ego, its all just a facade. Peter and Bruce are actual people we can root for.

I feel like Peter Parker should have been 1 or 2. At one point in time we all went through the phases Peter went through; struggling with money, a job, love in general, school, and for some, parent-less. We could all relate to that more than being some rich guy or scientists.

well he is. besides the Bruce side of Batman isnt all that interesting. personally, i still would have had him on the list. but lower on it.
Bruce Wayne has reached, if not nearly gotten to the point, of physical perfection.
Granted he has his gadgets and what not to help, but Tony uses a full fucking suit to do his work, and those close to him are always in danger because he does not hide his identity. At least Bruce tries to protect the ones he cares about.
And on to the Bruce side, even though he has been privileged, he has had to overcome the death of his parents and has had to suck up his pride in order to let people think that he is just some playboy billionaire living off of his parents money and not helping any one

Yeah, it's a codename. Banner/Hulk is a perfect alter ego example. It's a metaphor about the beast inside everyone of us. Hulk is a completely separate being from Bruce Banner (in most story arcs) born from his shattered mind and broken body, trully a Mr Hyde to Banner's Dr Jekyll. And thus he should be much higher on this list. Also some good examples would include: Donald Blake/Thor - a doctor by day, a god by night; and Martian Manhunter with his human detective persona.

Supes's alter ego is so special because it isn't a physical disguise but a personality one.
When Lex Luthor first discovered Supes to be Clark Kent, he refused to believe it because Clark seems too wimpy and clumsy to swat a fly, much less be Earth's mightiest mortal.
The alter ego is so good that people don't want to believe Clark to be Supes or refuse to believe so.

For all the people saying that batman shouldn't be 1#, this list is not about who the best superhero is, or who is the most powerful, but the best alter ego. Meaning, Bruce is first because his alter ego (Batman) is well developed and explained (childhood fear of bats, darkness of the night, symbol of hope for the everyday man) it truly stands for an other ''Ego/Person'', while most other heroes their alter ego just boil down to how he gained his powers, or because it looked cool.

Oliver Queen has a deep backstory and Clark Kent got that name from his parents and it shows what kind if person he is because he is just like his parents and it shows that he's a Kent a loving and caring person in every way.
Dude people are saying that because Bruce is a rich billionaire just like Tony. The only difference is that Bruce acts like that to hide the fact he is batman. Peter has real life problems like having a crappy job, no one likes him (except every marvel fan),also pretty much everyone he knows either turns evil or gets attacked. Superman did not need high tech gadgets, but if Batman were a reporter for a checkout tabloid like the Daily Planet, he would have to re-mortgage his home for every one of his gadgets, not to mention the bat-mobile.

Gallifrey Song Pretty much what that. Unlike other heroes Superman doesn't "conceal" his identity at all and people figure he's just chilling on the moon or something when they don't see him.
The beauty of Clark Kent as an alter ego is how unnecessary he is, Superman doesn't even need to eat or sleep and can sustain himself on the Sun alone and live in his Fortress of Solitude thus has no reason to have a job and pay rent, yet he does to connect better with humans.
It is absurd though how long it took Louis to realize they are the same person though since she encounters both regularly.

First, Reed Richards shouldn't be in this list because the Fantastic Four doesn't have fucking secret identities, and second, Bruce Wayne first? are you kidding me, look, I love Batman, the same as I love Spider-Man and the first place on this list belongs to Peter Parker, simply because behind the mask he is a REAL PERSON, not a billionaire, not an alien, or pilot, or a soldier, or a police officer, no, he is just a normal guy facing real challenges everyday, and that make's him so special.
It is a list of Alter Egos, not secret identities. And there is a difference,

To me, I think Clark Kent should be the #1 alter ego. His glasses are his mask as an alter ego. He's both Superman and Clark Kent at the same time in both egos.
It's really a toss up in my opinion between all three.
The facade Batman puts up as Bruce Wayne is impressive, and the fact that Bruce Wayne is the actual mask himself is what makes him worthy of number one. However he still needs Bruce Wayne's money and influence.
Superman is the exact opposite however, he doesn't need Clark Kent at all. Superman doesn't need to eat or sleep I believe he can sustaining himself on the sun alone. And he has the Fortress of Solitude to live in. He therefore doesn't need a job or an apartment.
Clark Kent is essentially only there to mingle with humans. The alter ego is impressive because he stands out in broad daylight. Superman doesn't hide his identity therefore nobody questions his identity. If he's not saving the day they assume he's on the moon or something.
Peter Parker finally is so great because there is nothing spectacular about him aside from his intellect. He's not rich like many other heroes and he's not some Super alien that doesn't require sustenance. He's a regular guy ranging from his teens to 20s.
Because of this Peter Parker has to deal with everyday struggles like paying bills, finding a job, doing homework, getting a date. Often times when he's fighting the Green Goblin or something he's also looking at the clock also because he has some sort of deadline or appointment. Thus he's very relateable unlike an alien like Superman or a extremely rich Batman with unrealistic intelligence and physical human ability.

Mainstream audiences hate the Daredevil movie and some Ben Afleck. I like the Directors Cut of the movie, and want to read the original comic. I also love the Crow movie and comic book more than Batman, but Batman does have Way more stories and a sidekicks as Well as being one of the first popular ones, but i do Think Daredevil more awesome.
Sassy Nick I have nothing against batman. He deserves to be on the list.
But the fact that Danny Phantom was an honorable mention, and Daredevil wasn't is just crazy to me. Same with the Flash. Any of them.
I'd take the Hulk out and put Daredevil in, and probably take Mr. Fantastic out as well, and put the Flash in(most likely Barry Allen.) Or put the Green Arrow in, rather than just being a mention.
But Daredevil is easily one of the best alter egos.
The next one should be top 10 Anti heros
Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno's Incredible Hulk were a great combination. "Mr Mcgee don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry."

You do realise that Batman and the Green Arrow are practically the same character (depending on what storyline/universe you look at). The only character difference is that one of them goes broke and then dedicates themselves to helping+protecting the 'little guy'

As a newspaper editor, he gets info before anyone else, and as GH, he pretends to be a criminal kingpin in order to win the trust of those he leaves high and dry. In a way, he has two alter egos because no one knows that the Hornet's a good guy.

Just to clarify: alter ego and secret identity are not synonymous. Also, Tony Stark actually kept his identity secret quite a bit longer in the comics.

Well, now they do. Before, in comics, people didn't know tony stark and banner were heroes. I wouldn't really choose Iron man in my top ten simply cause he's no different when he is in the suit from when he's out of the suit. Banner in the other hand is a choice i can agree as he is a completely different person from the Hulk. That's why they are so interesting since they sometimes even fight to be the dominant persona.

Let's talk about my favourite heroine: Sabine Kenobi from Star Wars. Sabine was born a Kenobi. When Sabine wakes up in the morning, she is a Kenobi. Her alter ego is Amilyn Holdo. Her mandalorian armor outfit, that's the armor when her adoptive mother Ursa Wren give it to her when she was 12. Those are her clothes. What Holdo wears - the multicolor hair, the Gatalentian outfit - that's the costume. That's the costume Sabine wears to blend in with the Galaxy far far away. Amilyn Holdo is how Sabine views us. And what are the characteristics of Amilyn Holdo? She's serious, she's unsure of herself, she's an astrologic. Amilyn Holdo is Sabine's critique on the whole galaxy far far.

Batman does not deserve number one AGAIN (as everyone else below has already stated). He's probably the least interesting when it comes to his alter ego for pete's sake.
Why? Because they are barely unalike. Bruce Wayne is the fake version that is unintersting. His alter-ego being a mask doesn't equal an amazing alter-ego because it adds to BATMAN not BRUCE WAYNE.
BRUCE WAYNE doesn't have issues. BATMAN does. BRUCE WAYNE doesn't get emotional about his parents. BATMAN does.
A much better example is of course Spider-man. Peter Parker is still an actual character who doesn't put on a mask. YES he acts dorky when he needs to but he's still genuine in how he acts around the world because he can't afford not to. He's not rich, and he's not an adult. He faces first-world problems much better than Bruce because they are ACTUAL problems in his life.
PETER PARKER lost Ben Parker. PETER PARKER married MJ. PETER PARKER gets emotional. NOT Spider-man.
But REGARDLESS ANY of those other choices (except for Thor, where did that one come from?) would be more interesting because the alter-egos are ACTUAL characters of their own that have depth. Bruce Wayne does not.
Batman isn't the best super hero in the world, Mojo (and all those who voted for him). People just think that because he's the most marketable and the most overused.

Personally, I like the alter ego of White Lantern Kyle Rayner. The guy was just a freelance graphic artist before the Guardian of the Universe, Ganthet, gave the last green ring to him seemingly at random. Since then, he's had one girlfriend who was murdered and stuffed in his fridge, one girlfriend who was KIA as a Green Lantern, the current girlfriend is the biological daughter of the Green Lantern Corps' archnemesis (and who was considered one of the greatest Lanterns ever), and was once a member of the Justice League. On top of that, he was KIA during the most disastrous event in DC Comics history (Blackest Night), resurrected by his girlfriend with the help of a Star Sapphire minutes later, and went on to master all emotions of the light spectrum, earning the right to wield the most powerful color in the universe (white).
During his time as a Green Lantern, Kyle was made an Honor Guard with Guy Gardner, which is the number three position in the Corps chain of command (after the Guardians themselves and the Keeper of the Book of Oa, Salaak).
