    Wow,that had to have been one of their first amps.I used to play through a Bandit in the early 80’s.
    People don’t realize how therapeutic it is to do exactly what you’re doing here.If more people could do that,there’d be a whole lot more harmony in the world (no pun intended).

    Dude this is one of the closest videos I've seen on here to nailing Skynyrd tone but the playing and feel is even more impressive. Nice work!

    Ed I really like your demonstration!! Thanks. I'm in the market for a Peavey Deuce just like the one you're using. Do I want to find one with Eminence speakers, or Celestians or Black Widows for the best Skynyrd tone possible? Thanks for your help! Karl

      Thanks Karl!
      I’d recommend getting any variation you could find, speakers are easy to swap if need be. The black widows would be ideal but remember, they will be the heaviest due to their large magnets and cast frame. These Eminence speakers were some that my friend had in an old crate 2-12 amp that were the right resistance to go into this amp. A happy accident, or just what was available lol.
      These amps are a lot more cost effective than spending lots of money on a Fender or Marshall that would do the same thing. It’ll help you decide if this type amp is right for the sound you’re chasing.
      How this helps, and thanks for watching!

    Didn’t Skynyrd use Mace models?

    • @Southern.child86
      @Southern.child86  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They did, the Deuce is the “little brother” to the MACE. Less wattage but setup similarly, 2 12” speakers, etc. I’ve read that they used these also, but can’t confirm that.

      Great playing brother 👍
      I just picked up 1975 Deuce ll yesterday from a pawn shop in great condition on the out side, but wasn’t operating. $30; so I have a tech checking it out now. Chassis looks like much of the resistors and capacitors replaced. So hopefully it turns out good 🙏

      I’m not sure if they ever used deuces onstage but I saw a photo of them backstage with some

    Hi Ed, this sounds fantastic, and great riffin! Do you remember exactly what Eminence speakers you put in? Cheers

    • @Southern.child86
      @Southern.child86  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Dan,
      They’re “Eminence designed” speakers out of an old Crate 2-12” amp. These have a large dust cap indicating they’re made similar to any other more efficient speakers. (Black Widows, JBL, etc.)
      I’ve only had the amp up to 3 on the master volume with the channel volume around 8-9, I can tell you it holds together and doesn’t flub out. I can’t imagine how loud it could get if I turned it up any more lol. I’m sure my neighbors would appreciate it if I don’t…..

    Great job, at the moment i play a marshall dsl 100w 1998 made in england joey modded and a egnater head tol 50w made in usa to reach the skynyrd tone, it sometimes works some other i don't like it, but every guitarist knows the other guitarist' s tone is always better than one' s own

      Thanks! I’ve toiled with this for years and now know that if I’d had one of these as a teenager, I would’ve reached the tone I was searching for sooner.

    Skynyrd used peavey mace amps

    • @Southern.child86
      @Southern.child86  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah they sure did. I talk about that in this video a bit. It’s my understanding the Deuce is a lower wattage version of the Mace. It’s sounds really close to my ears.

    Peaveys don't blow up like Marshall's did back in the day, I feel.That's why they used peavey.
    Alsy they are cheaper a lot cheaper biased d on the cold side but fender did the same thing.
    Fenders sound like crap jf you try to bias them hot. Marshall's sound crappy biased cold.
    It's all about the circuit design..
