    Another great upload. It really is incredible how often you can get the right answer just by picking out the connotations of a handful of words. Nice work!

      It's finding the right handful that makes it hard

    to summarise: IF U CANT PROVE A CHOICE WRONG using STRONG words , then it's probably the right answer

    • @SetteleTutoring
      @SetteleTutoring  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yes! I often find that it’s easier to prove a wrong answer wrong than it is to prove a right answer right. The SAT loves to make right answers sound vague and bland so that they don’t stand out.

      but like honestly when ppl post videos about "tricks and strategies" etc and go with the "read carefully" type of bs i swear i hold myself back so hard not to throw my laptop. THIS IS WHAT WE MEAN WHEN WE SAY WE WANT STRATEGIES

    • @SetteleTutoring

      Haha I know exactly what you mean. My favorite is when tutors tell you that you can get better at SAT Reading by reading more books. I mean, reading more can't hurt. But there isn't usually a quiz at the end of a novel, so just reading for fun isn't going to help on the SAT all that much!

    I really love this method! The only issue is timing; how can I make sure to carefully read the passage and highlight strong words and slowly work through each answer choice when I can only spend about 1-2 min on each question?

    • @SetteleTutoring
      @SetteleTutoring  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Honestly, it’s not about reading “carefully”. With practice, the Strong Words just POP out of the lines. You can train your brain to spot the right stuff and ignore the details. Mostly, I find that nouns aren’t very important, but adjectives and verbs tend to matter. If you’ve taken practice tests 4, 5, or 6, you might want to watch my walkthrough where I take the test myself for the first time. You’ll see how quickly I notice the right stuff.

    Please from your explanations
    1. a red car
    2. a loud car
    3. a small car
    4. a pretty car
    5. an expensive car
    Which of the following has strong words?

    • @SetteleTutoring
      @SetteleTutoring  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’d say loud, pretty, and expensive are the strongest. But it all depends on the context. Loud can maybe have a negative connotation, so that might be useful information. Pretty might be positive, but it also might be a bland description that doesn’t move the story forward. Expensive stands out to me no matter what. It says a lot about the car and the person who owns it. I wish that whether a word was Strong was more scientific and absolute, but it’s ultimately about your feelings and the context of the passage. But with practice, you can get better and better at noticing the strongest words that make the biggest difference in the passage. No matter what, “car” probably isn’t going to be a strong word. It’s what we say about the car that matters.

    Hey I have just this week gotten to know that digital sat offers a graphic calculator, I have been getting between 1450-1520(in practice tests) without it.
    Do you think I should try to incorporate the graphic calculator in my strategies at last moment or just give it without the graphic calculator?

      using the desmos calculator can really make a huge difference, especially that it helps to save ALOT of time, its never too late to learn how to use it there are many helpful vids on yt that can help you with that

    • @d3rinnn

      when i didnt know how to use desmos id get around 650 though after i started practicing with desmos i dont score lower than 750 now

    • @SetteleTutoring
      @SetteleTutoring  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I definitely think desmos can make a difference on some hard questions. It'll save you time in some easier places, but it will also prevent potential mistakes. You might have already seen it, but I made a video that hits the Desmos highlights:

    so do we use negative and positive only for vocab and poetry questions

    • @SetteleTutoring
      @SetteleTutoring  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh definitely not. I use them as often as I can. They work on most of the Reading questions: vocab, passages, and transitions. They won't always get you the right answer right away, but it's an easy place to start. It helps you see the basic outline of whatever you're reading, and then you can eliminate some choices and think about the details for whatever choices remain. If you haven't watched already, I highly recommend my lesson on Dumb Summaries:

    on my first practice test i scored 860 the second time i took it i scored 920 but if i wanna get into the uni i want i wanna score big (cuz its so competitive) but the english is so confusing what i usually get wrong is the vocab questions and the punctuations ones :(

    • @SetteleTutoring
      @SetteleTutoring  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You have lots of room to improve, so I’d start with topics that are more about memorization, like punctuation, but also math. Vocabulary is going to be tough since there are infinite words to memorize. And a lot of vocab comes from experience and confidence with the English language. There’s an episode in this series that introduces grammar, but this playlist breaks it down rule-by-rule. I’m still adding more!
