Max ignoring that team order ( which is a big no no in F1) actually gave him the seat at the Red Bull team. Red bull boss Helmut Marko later said that Max was right and with his heartfelt 'NO!' he showed Helmut that he was more than ready to be promoted to RB. Max got promoted in the middle of the next season, completely unexpected, jumped into the red bull in Barcelona, the car wasn't even fitted to his body due to lack of time. Guess who won? Yep. Max. Became the youngest race winner ever in F1. Currently fighting for the worldtitle.

He's currently leading the championship. It's a close battle with 7 times world champion Lewis Hamilton. Next race is Sunday in the US in Austin, Texas.
It's close because Lewis put him into the barriers at 51G's, ... and only took a 5 second penalty! He could have killed him! Hamilton will do anything to take the win!
@@barrymantz6026 that 5 second penalty was a joke. The absolute minimum should have been a drivethrough penalty, but 10 second stop and go would be my choice.

indeed.. and he became the youngest winner of an F1 Race, only a week after getting his drivers licence..spain 2016.. already seems like a century ago..
It does help his dad was a F1 driver as well and he was stimulated to race from a young age (karts at first ofc), as soon as he showed interest.

Max verstappen is a great talent. If you love those great overtakes, you must watch the brazilian gp of 2016. Its a Rain race and max verstappen overrakes 16 cars in the last 20 rounds. He was on fire

Very proud of Max, next year i go to the races. Hope he will be world champion this year.
So far in 2021 Max has driven more laps on 1st position during the races than the rest of the field added all together (which are 19 drivers, including 7 time world champion Lewis Hamilton)
He already has reached a legend status in the pinnacle of Motorsport aged 22.
And you observed what many others somehow can't, He's a born sportsman and teamplayer.
And very "Dutch" straight forward.
We sure are proud as can be!

You should definitely do more F1 videos! Maybe something about the 2016 Brazilian Grand Prix where Verstappen pulled of some amazing moves. Your videos with Dutch things tend to get quite a bit of views so it’s the perfect match!
This is more a summary of his first season. It doesn’t tell you much about him (how he got to F1) and the controversy around him joining so young. There are some good documentaries about that on TH-cam.
Also, if you have Netflix and you would like to learn more about F1, check out a series called Drive to Survive. It’s very dramatized, but fun to watch. (Although Verstappen is not portrayed very well in this series, which is why he stopped participating in the filming.)

A important thing to know about f1 is that each car performs different. The teams are developing their own cars, but within certain guidelines. Mercedes is a strong team and wil find themselves on the podium most of the time. Torroso (first f1 team Max joined) was a weaker team and had therefore a slower car. Torroso struggled to get into top 10 (points). So the fact max got 4th place in a torroso car at such a young age is very impressive.

What is most amazing about Max' first season in F1 (besides being so young), is the fact that this was only his 2nd season in car-racing!
After karting he did only 1 (yeah, that's *ONE*) year in F3! (Where he ended up 3rd in the championship, with the most wins!)

Today (12-12-21) Max Verstappen became the first Dutch Worldchampion in F1
I’ll never forget the first day he started in F1 and the first day he started in the red bull car in Barcalona and won the race…….that was awesome but his drive in Brazile was even better…….he is like Arton Senna!!! This year in Zandvoort (with the orange army) was awesome to and going back next year😁😁😁And to think that when he started in F1 he didn’t even had his official driver’s license you have to be 18 in the Netherlands 🤪 2016 Brazilian Grand Prix:high lights is one to watch!!! It will blow your mind!!!

And today Max Verstappen is again the leader in the championship for 2022. Last Sunday 28 August 2022 he was driving in Spa Belgium. A newspaper said is the rest driving an Formula 2 car. 🤣😂 He started at position 14 and won the race. 🤣😂
F1 is already great by itself, but has also alot of strategy involved. Like tyre age, who will pit first, drs, if you understand some of them it even become much more fun to watch.

This was a cool video. I only got into F1 like four years ago but now race Sundays are the perfect afternoons to look forward to and I'm a huge Verstappen fan. I had never seen this documentary of him and seeing it that in-depth on his rookie year, but I like him even more now. He gets a lot of crap for being too aggressive or sometimes reckless (not as much this year I'd say on the reckless, more just aggressive) but just like you said too, considering how young he is he is just way mature for being like 17-18 during this season. Cool reaction my man. And as many other people commented this season has been the most fun in the four years I've followed the championship because it's actually close and not just Mercedes. It's a fantastic sport once you crack the surface of it. I'm sure that's how baseball fans feels watching a pitcher except I never cracked baseball so I'm all F1. :D

I remember his first win in 2016. I was on vacation on the island of Rhodes, Greece. Watched it with 3 other Dutch viewers. Met all 3 again last september at the same spot.

New fans always like to see overtakes but id still like to elaborate why overtakes are so incredible in F1.
It’s the braking, to go from 300 kph to 0 in under 4 seconds is an incredible strain on the car and the driver. It puts about 5G’s on the neck and heats the brakes to over a 1000C. Ever since i realized this it added so much more wow to every move into a hairpin

His father was also a driver in Formula 1, Max was age 4 when he started racing in go-karts. On top of that both his parents were racecar drivers, his father in F1 and his mother was huge in go-karts. You could say he got good genes.
