What do you think is the best seat in the train? We definitely didn’t take those 😂

Did you buy them at the counter or on the website? I ask because I am traveling with friends in about a month and we are trying to book those seats.

My flight landed at incheon airport late. I took the Arex all stop train to Seoul station $5 Canadian. Bought TMoney card at a vending booth $5. Then at another vending machine (next to Tmoney card purchase machine) loaded $ onto card. Walked to Arex trains and used Tmoney card for entrance. Took 1 hour to reach Seoul station. Took elevator up , only one floor. Then took another 2 sets of escalators . Elevator also available. Finally reached KTX floor . Went to cashier counter , had to use phone to scan and fill in info. Trains available every 15 minutes on a Friday may 31,2024. . No seats available, we were offered standing option. We agreed paid $50/ person Canadian . Took us 5 minutes to get to train platform. After the train started, many available seats empty, we sat on them. 6+ stops in all, at each stop we stood up and waited for empty seats. Standing was easygoing, train was very smooth. Each stop was very short 2 minutes. We had seats pretty much all the way. I think there is maybe one more stop as I am writing this at this moment. Vending machines only took Korea wan.

I lived in South Korea (Ulsan) for 3 years and did the KTX run from Seoul to Busan and back many times. It's a really lovely way to travel. The drop down screens show your speed at around 300 km/hr on the long straights. You don't really feel the speed until you see one coming the other way. Then you realize you're going really fast! TIP: Buy a first class seat if you can, it's really spacious and very comfortable.

That’s awesome! We really enjoyed the trip and we will most definitely try first class next time!

I’m visiting S Korea and planning to do day trip from Seoul to Busan and back. You mentioned that only local card accepted for payment for the ticket. Also, 1-way second class is $44 USD. I’m retired U.S. army and my first time visiting the country since I was not stationed there. My late grandfather was WWII and Korean War veteran so I would like to visit DMZ and the peace memorial. Thanks!

Hello! First off, thank you for your service and your family that also served!
If you want to buy a ticket to Busan you can go to the ticket office, there you can pay cash or card but not at the machines they only accept
Local cards. Other option is online but we did not do that!
A big tip we can give you about the DMZ, you have tours that visit around the DMZ. These can be booked anytime but if you want to actually visit the iconic location where you can take a step into the North Korea and the famous Green buildings, guards etc. This one has to be booked in advance as it’s very popular!! Research as soon as possible as we couldn’t visit as it was full everywhere!
Hope you enjoy and visit the war museum that’s also a must see plus it’s free.

@@yesandexplore thank you. I booked my DMZ excursion and meet up maps.app.goo.gl/UaYGfEac7MBKxkB88?g_st=ic
Can I get a card for payment for the days I’m in S Korea? Also, kindly recommend a good eESIM carrier to use there. Thank you!

Great! For a card you can use credit card or cash in many places! Otherwise if you mean a t-money card you can get it at the convenience store at the airport! Buying the card you can use credit card but topping up you need cash… don’t ask us why haha! And when you are done and you still have money left you can return it and get your money back that’s left.
With simcard we took the easy way and got it at the airport. They help you install and get everything ready. In Thailand a regular sim can also be installed as e-sim but for korea we are not sure.
Enjoy korea and let us know how your holiday was 😃

Nice train. And Just as reliable as trains in Holland 😄. Not …..

Actually, this train is MORE reliable than the trains in Holland (which is the Holland area)/the Netherlands.
