Kind of interesting how he said that as a parent, he’s always looking for that approval of his kid(s) and wants his kids to be proud of him, when as a kid, all you’re trying to do is make your parents proud of you. Funny how it’s the same for both parents and kids

@@linusdn2777 I agree with this. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that these days it's becoming more and more common to really do the things you want rather than follow social norms. In this case, the choice to not have kids. It used to be expected (and still very much is to a degree) but a lot of people now are having kids because they really want to and not because they have to.
When you really care about your kids, you also respect their thoughts and feelings and want them to be proud of you/ love you rather than how it was in the past where parents provided basic/ physical needs and the kids basically just need to be grateful for that. Like, "I'm the parent so I'm always right" sort of mentality and you'd never talk to your parents about how your feel. These days a lot of parents want their kids to be open and honest and parents will still have the last say but be more open to trying to understand. Obviously not all parents but a lot of them (also very location specific and I'm talking about western parenting).

@@Sal3600 Sadly, Americans are very, very tribal. As much as we would like to be one group we are always divided by our clans. Our government puts out a census to keep us that way and there are small towns with thirty christian churches along the same block. And yes, to the outsider it seems redundant and archaic to continue to separate ourselves by hyphens, but our history is littered with subjugation, degradation, genocide and the lack of equal protection under law. So as much as it would be cool to have just one American group, our government won't allow it unless it further's its goals and our people won't let go of a hate-filled past and teach the children to move forward. I know it sounds cynical, but it's real. That's the best answer I can give you.

Mandalorian and Falcon and the Winter Soldier are totally different studios with different visions. One is Star Wars the other is the MCU. That being said The Mandalorian seems like it was the luck of them being allowed to do what they want. The MCU I have MUCH more faith in to make a good product, they've proven the strength in serialized storytelling through movies and I think that will translate fantastically to the small screen.

You know what, I sold this man short. I saw him in Winter Soldier as Cap's sidekick, albeit an incredible sidekick.
I watched Endgame, saw the ending and I'll admit I wasn't disappointed in Cap's choice of Sam Wilson, but I honestly thought nobody could replace Chris Evans as Captain America, and while I LIKED Falcon, hearing him being set up to fill the shoes of my favourite hero of all time? It didn't seem like it would ever be enough.
Well I watched Falcon and Winter Soldier, and marvelled as the character of Sam Wilson filled my heart with hope. Not hope in the marvel franchise, hope for America or anything as specific or realistic or even dependable as that...
Just hope, a simple emotion that told me that things could be better. The kindness, depth and understanding Mackie brought to the role was astounding... and now I can't imagine anyone else filling those shoes, and the more I listen to interviews with this man... the more I regret ever doubting him.
I was at a low point recently, and simple words of hope and courage helped me stand up again. I'll always owe him for that.

Great Samuel L Jackson anecdote: 13:13
"Sam has been a presence in my life and a mentor and a voice in my head for the past 12 years. It's phenomenal. But intimidating, and scary, when you get to sit across from someone that you admire so much. So about the third day of shooting I realize that every time I talk to him, I call him Samuel L Jackson. So on the 3rd or 4th day of shooting I go "Yo Samuel L. Jackson you want some coffee?"
He says: "Stop saying my whole name, motherf**er!"
I'm thinking: "Oh Jesus...I just pissed off Samuel L Jackson!"
And then I'm like: "...wait, stop referring to him as Samuel L Jackson!!!"
