One of the problems with filtering CW is the "ringing" that occurs when narrowing the filters and applying NR. I have used Icom, SunSDR, Thetis (Hermes Lite 2) and even with using Thetis software NR1 and NR2, I can't get rid of the annoying ringing. Except...the Yaesu FTDX10 (as well other Yaesu rigs) can be cleaned up using DNR and adjusting the RF gain to hear the CW signal and only the CW signal. Yaesu's DNR is amazing for CW. For SSB, Thetis NR1 and NR2 are the best in my opinion.

I agree with the remarks about the original Amcom DSP Speaker !
Turn it on and that was it !
It did everything necessary to reduce noise, eliminate heterodynes, but passed both Voice and CW signals !
    It's simplicity was it's beauty !
Nothing against Bob, but when Heil got ahold of the technology, and then decided to add knobs etc., they simply were not the same !
And for the mobile operator, messing with knobs is not what you want to be doing, going down the Highway !
Too, they made running a radio mobile, much less fatiguing, as you didn't have that annoying background noise hammering away at your ears !
Wondering if Anytone offers one of these devices also ?

Still use a Timewave DSP599ZX which is still a very effective device.
Must say that the FT-991A has the best DSP built in.
Thanks Robert for the demo of the GNR-1.

I did not know they had that . Works great . I can use that on my shortwave radios and even threw my SDRplay but that one has some great add on software to do filtering. The CW is impressive ! I may add that to my POTA setup . The Icom filters do work great but some time I take smaller radios out and get noise quite often. I do have the QT 60 radio from them. Works great . 73

Yes, I'm working on doing a comparison video between it and the IC-7610. They use the same ADC chips- but are VERY different radios.

Still got my old Amcom DSP noise reducers both built into a speaker and standalone base unit. I wish you had one of those to do a comparison with. No dials to twiddle with. Turn it on and it just worked.

It would be very interesting if you made a comparison with the RM noise software. 🤔🤔🤔

My concern is the latency. As well, Once you are in PC land - it's no longer a "Ham radio accessory". Interesting software though.

@@robertnagy2163 Have you tried RM noise? What is your definition of a "Ham radio accessory"? It is remarkable effective!

you missed the elephant in the room. Thetis' NR2

@@robertnagy2163 I bought my 7000 DLE II largely based on your review. PS and NR2 are the standout features IMHO. Which is why I was surprised you did not include Thetis in the comparison.

@@RobB_VK6ES You know, I literally forgot! The DNR in the Anan is in a league of it's own. Everyone is playing catch-up. The Elecraft K4D is the big disappointment. $6400 and it uses LMS DNR.

bet this would work great on the old cb radios also.
