      Not only large number of Hindus suffer from inferiority complex but also suffer from Stockholm syndrome due to successive Islamic and Christian invasions. They tend to identify with invaders’ values and ideologies and also tend to modify their own ideology to please foreigners.

      Subcontinent Muslims also kind of suffer from Stockholm syndrome because they wrongly think that they have descended from Arabs, Persians or came from Central Muslim countries.

      I would appreciate if there was awareness in people to call it "Dharma" "धर्म ". "The law of Multiverse, ब्रह्मा़ंड " , "law of nature, प्रकृति". And the co existence of all three of us. This manifests itself in our way of life based on Sanatan Sanskriti. Vedic SANSKRITI is repository of knowledge of human evolution. This evolved with the time and yug (kaal). Dharma has universal application without discrimination.
      1. According to the eternal knowledge on this ever existing mutliverse there is no creator or creation only the manifestation. Three always existed "Prakriti" the mutliverse/nature "jivatma" the creature /species and "Ishwar" the all pervasive Parmatma. The "purush" called jivatma the "prakriti" called nature and the "Ishwar" called all pervasive "paramatma".
      "Neither created nor destroyed only changes forms" the famous quote of "Gita" by Lord Krishna sums it up regarding existence of this Multiverse and us. And how insignificant we are in this Multiverse has been described in detail in few references that if we as a human goes to certain "Devalok", some earth like planets in this Multiverse and spend just a day there and come back on earth how many Lakhs of years would have already been passed on this earth. Interesting calculation of one day of "ब्रह्म" equals numbers of years on "पृथ्वी" earth.
      This knowledge of universal applications gave such a good and peaceful life to its followers that India was the top economy of the world till 1200 AD since ancient time and supported most of the population in less lands and resources without destroying it unlike industrial civilization. Till the Islamic invaders took over the major part of India after several failed attempts of invasion loot and plunder.
      2. The place between Himalaya in north to indu sarovar (Indian ocean) in south is called Hindu. Himalya Hi + indu. Makes the word Hindu. Used for geographic demarcation. Hindu kush mountain Hindu river called as Sindhu river all indicated the sanskrit origin of the word. But yes doesn't indicate religion but Geographic. Hindustan is a pure sanskrit origin word. Hindu + sthan. Any word added with "sthan" indicates its sanskrit origin. "sthan" became "stan" in apbhransh and prakrit. Has nothing to do with Persian or Arabic. Read the Aagmas and puran. I repeat Hindu word is of Indian origin and mentioned in Sanskrit text not a foreign word given by foreigners. But used mostly by them to identify the people living in this area.
      The muslim invaders tried to demean the word Hindu with many bad words to show them down and paint them as bad people. This is how racist jokes are created. They used this word so many times that it sounded like they created this word.
      3. Since" Dharma" evolved and led humans from darkness to light from ignorance to knowledge. "तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमया". There was no other religion to compete So there is no name, no rules for bashing other religion and concept of conversion. You can't bash criticize or compete non existent.
      4. This is why got more than 1400 books scriptures on various topics helpful in material and spiritual life and this knowledge evolved with time.
      5. Ayurvda, Medicine, Vyakrna, Natyashashtra, state crafts, yagya hawan ritual, philosophy, astrology, Jyotish, poetics, sangita shastra, yoga, Veda,Vedanta, Aagam, Nigam, Itihas, Puran, Vyakaran, chhand, Nirukta, Mimansa architecture mathematics to name a few. Books are available on every aspect of human brain can imagine in such a detail that only one book Mahabharat contains one lakh shlokas.
      And this great knowledge is not only confined to Sanskrit text but in all ancient languages like Tamil Prakrit Pali Malyalam Kannada Telgu Odiya Marathi Bangali etc. Difficult to describe them in detail here. Just leaving that on readers interest and reasrech according to their likings.
      6. In short Dharma is celebration of the diversity of Human knowledge. Celebrating life and Nature is integral part of Sanatan sanskriti. Hindu celebrate Holi Diwali Chhath Pongal Vaisakhi Sankranti alongside numerous smaller celebration round the year.
      7. We as a layman only know about Dharma as a blind man knows about elephant after holding the tail of the elephant.
      8. Most of us are only able to know what we see on daily basis like nature and creation worship. And on the basis of this we criticize and appreciate dharma. But Dharma criticize none. Dharma don't give scope for criticism but enlightenment and seeking truth .
      9. There is so much more to know. Since I am born in a Dharma followers family. Therefore I celebrate the diversity of human thoughts with ease. Dose not mean i know everything. But once you will know Dharma out of the set criteria of Abrahamic religion for Dharma. You will find nothing to criticize like a blind man holding an elephant tail and saying why he is made to hold a snake. Instead of criticism You will question and seek answers.
      10. For example when you see a survivor on discovery eating dead animal poo and pee either you appreciate or criticize this. But no one can deny that this human will survive the odd. And Dharma have a complete set of philosophy and practicing sect called aghori. However a few. To make sure that the human will survive the extreme. Human will not die out because of the certain dogmas made by the so called civilized society or religion. Dharma supports all accommodates all.
      11. Religion ends at heaven and hell only but the Dharma gives to strive even beyond this. That's Moksha complete liberation. Gives emphasis on seeking, knowing your self deep within and finding your own path. This is the reason from Sanatan dharma lots of ism like Jain, Buddha, Sikh, vaishnava Shaiva, Atheism, came out without any conflict or blood shed. Can you imagine the same with Abrahmic religion?
      12. If someone adopts Sanatan dharma way of life. He automatically fits into the either Varna Vyavstha Brahman, Kshatriya, Vaishya, Shudra according to their profession or Ashram Vyavstha Brahmacharya Grihasth Vanprasth and Sanyas. Together its called Varnashram Vyavstha for the benefit of the society. I can enlighten you on this vedic Varnashram vayvstha. Mail me
      Varna division start from us. Our head is our brahma to control our shoulders are our kshatriya to protect us our stomach is our vysya to feed us and our foot are our shudra to serve us. In other words for ourselves we ourselves are our ब्राह्मण, क्षत्रिय, वैश्य and शूद्र. For our family we all ब्राह्मण, क्षत्रिय, वैश्य and शूद्र for each other.
      But for the society we are ब्राह्मण, क्षत्रिय, वैश्य and शूद्र according to our profession to the society. In Another term division of profession. Which exists all over the world in different forms. And this is most scientific division of profession to avoid conflict in society. This Varna can be achieved by your Karma.
      To fit into Ashram one has nothing to do. Fits in naturally and can stay in any of the phase as long as he wants.
      Now it depends on us that we respect equally to our teacher and our toilet cleaner. Which Dharma clearly says respect each and every thing. This is why worship for all not only to teachers. So if you respect your teacher and toilet cleaner equally you are a great Dharmik person. To show respect we must touch feet not the head. Now where you see fault in this varna system. Lots of Rishi like Valmiki, Vedvyas, Ravidas, Parashar etc were not born in cast Brahman but respected worshipped. Cast seems a tribal identity with all the evils of Ego and depends totally on an individual local social environment no support from Dharma
      13. Sanatan Dharma allow an individual to seek truth, follow a path or make his her own path to reach the goal of 'Brahma" the energy and consciousness of the Brahmaand. The feeling of अहं ब्रह्मास्मी, I am the consciousness makes one enlighten and तत् त्वमसी, so are you makes you a Guru.
      This is the reason encouraged many enlightened soul to find and make their own path. Thus Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism, sant parampra like Kabir, Ravidas etc were born without any conflict. Dharma allowed them to propagate and flourish
      14. Comparing Dharma with one book one prophet religion is not a good idea. Can only increase ignorance. Because books of mazhab are small simple and for that for the followers of that particular mazhab only. So better study the world's oldest surviving civilization based on Dharma with universal application, yourself.

    Yes, Hindus had inferiority complex until 2014. Because previous governments always portrayed hindu religious practices as bad and so forth. They only thought us about supremacy of Islamic invaders and Christianity. We used to feel ashamed to call ourselves as Hindus but not now. We have a leader who is proud of his roots and traditions and he practices it openly. Actually I am not hindu, I am Jain...but our teachings in our home and society were so secular that I got to about my religion when I was filing exam form for 10+2. Now I love philosophy of Hinduism and jainism too. After all, jainism is a branch of Hinduism.

      Jainism is a separate religion. It's a part of Sanatan not Hinduism.
      Being a Jain, you don't even know the basics. Either read the Agams else go to a Jain sadhu, sadhvi and they will properly explain to you what Jainism is.

      And what's the difference between Sanatan and Hinduism ❓❓❓❓❓
      And for your kind information, when you go to jain sadhu and sadhvi, instead of giving true knowledge about jain dharm, they only focus on telling that Jainism is a different religion than Sanatan Dharm, Jainism is not part of Sanatan and they start attacking Sanatan Dharm and criticising the way Neo budhhist do 😰😰😰😰😰
      I am a Hindu from Patna, Bihar and i have seen this in Bihar, jain Sadhu and sadhvi only focus on making Jain dharm diffrent from Sanatan Dharm instead of giving and preaching true knowledge of Jain Dharm, they don't follow bhagwan Mahavir's knowledge, they just take his name sometimes but their their complete attention is always on criticising and diminishing our beautiful Sanatan Dharm 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩 ... The one who commented is a Jain and definitely will go and ask about Jainism from Jain monks.
      Why are you being obsessed with Jains? I love Hinduism and I respect it but that's not my religion.
      FYI, Mahaveer Swami was the 24th and last tirthankar of Jainism. You are commenting without having basic knowledge of Jainism.
      You follow your religion who is stopping you? But you have no right to harass me just because I claimed my religious identity.

    This is a quote from Lord Macaulay's speech in the British Parliament on 2nd February 1835:-
    "I have traveled across the length and breadth of India and I have not seen one person who is a beggar, who is a thief. Such wealth I have seen in this country, such high moral values, people of such calibre, that I do not think we would ever conquer this country, unless we break the very backbone of this nation, which is her spiritual and cultural heritage, and, therefore, I propose that we replace her old and ancient education system, her culture, for if the Indians think that all that is foreign and English is good and greater than their own, they will lose their self-esteem, their native self-culture and they will become what we want them, a truly dominated nation."
    And they succeeded to a large extent.

    Sham Sharma is absolutely right.. to your question whether Hindus have inferiority complex, the answer is not as much as it was before 2014… that was due to communist and islamists being appointed by Congress as education ministers and professors.. the history books were full of Mughal and English history while great Hindu empires were sidelined.. similarly Gurukuls were destroyed while Convent Schools and Madrasa were patronized…

    - We saw this against Mughal empire.
    - We saw this during partition.
    - We are currently seeing it in Bangladesh when Hindu priests & leaders protested against persecution of Hindus AND Buddhists.

      Some Hindus if they are in the lower castes have an inferiority complex…although I guess not in comparison to other religions but within Hinduism. Because of this many lower caste Hindus converted to Buddhism, which has no caste system. They became the Ambedkar Buddhists. The Buddhist monk in U.K., Ajahn Sumedho, explained that when these people were questioned as to how their lives had changed after converting to Buddhism, they said that practically their lives hadn’t changed…they were still poor, got poor jobs but mentally they felt they had so much more self respect. The complex was created by the Congress government in 1947. That govt installed the first 5 Muslim ministers of education who designed the syllabus which glorified Islamic history, the Mughals and other invaders. They omitted large parts of Indian ie Hindu history and further along with the leftist congress govt criticised Hinduism for its idol worship, casteism and other negative aspects (according to them) out of shear ignorance and the superiority complex of the Abrahamic religions. The British did the same thing during the Raj. Mr. Abhishek Mishra might be able to enlighten you further.

      To the Muslims, a Hindu is a Kaffir. A Kaffir is not worthy of respect. He is low-born and without status. That is why a country that is ruled by a Kaffir is Dar-ul-Harb to a Musalman. Given this, no further evidence seems to be necessary to prove that the Muslims will not obey a Hindu government. The basic feelings of deference and sympathy, which predispose persons to obey the authority of government, do not simply exist. But if a proof is wanted, there is no dearth of it. In the midst of the Khilafat agitation, when the Hindus were doing so much to help the Musalmans, the Muslims did not forget that as compared with them the Hindus were a low and an inferior race.

      Congress govt openly started saying hindus to shut up and not cry if their houses were destroyed by Muslims. Kashmiri hindus were never allowed to cry on tv. Godhra victims even not allowed to cry on tv. But day after day muslims were shown as sufferers. Congress was doing so much appeasement even after mumbai attacks. They were calling the terrorists hindus. This eroded all faith of hindus on them and their secular credentials. Modi came as backlash to that. Congress encouraged the Muslim identity of muslims but forced hindus to be modern ,
      atheists, scientific. This double standards were not tolerated after 40 years of islamic terrorism. Many hindus were made to recite quran and then shot dead. Many terrorists chanted Allah hu akbar and then killed hindus for just being hindus..this forced us to accept our identity as hindu. Now we want our rights as equals. There is no big temple for hindus in north india, all converted to masjids. We want our temples back

      I agree that inferiority complex is not a true statement.
      Perhaps, what Sham Sharma means is that unlike Christians and Muslims, Hindus do not feel the need to protect their religious beliefs.
      Partially, we can blame the British for this, because when they banned the gurukuls, we were left with only the traditions, not the vedic wisdom. We also were undermined by the generations of Anglophiles they spawned, especially, the paedophile Jihadi Islamist Maulana Gandhi, who while pretending to be Hindu, actively supported 2 genocides of Hindus by Muslims and also Ghazwa-e-hind. He also convinced many Hindus that nonviolence was the cornerstone of Hinduism, when it was actually that of Buddhism. Buddhism almost entirely vanished in Akhand Bharat because most Buddhists became Muslims, whereas Hindus always resisted conversion.
      Many present day Hindus refuse to believe that they are facing a threat from Islam & Christianity. Hinduphobic Muslims attack & even behead Hindus worldwide but will always claim that they were driven to do so by "Islamophobia". In India, majority of politicians are anti-Hindu, mainly because most Hindus refuse to take offence at religious appeasement of Muslims & Christians. In addition, the leftist politicians will always justify Islamic violence and blame the innocent Hindu victims. Sadly, many temple going Hindus still vote for their own tormentors.

      First, Any religion cannot be respected, any Dharm can be respected. However, Dharm and religion are not the same thing... Second, Dharm and Adharm cannot be equally respected. It's like saying Capitalism and Communism should be equally respected. Third, Abrahamic faiths demand obedience and if people don't worship Xtian God or Musi God then to the hot place they go forever and ever... Irrespective of how good a person they were, Infact that is what Abrahamic faiths predict even for baybz born to different parents... So yeah it's not a question of thought, its a question of fact. Four, preserving Dharma is a fundamental goal of any Sanatani. Organising Ghar Wapsis is definitely important to that goal.

My grandad (who was a very religious man) explained to me that any religion that requires advertisement and propaganda is not a religion. It simply is a product for the so called scholars and preachers to sell. A true religion draws people towards it by showing the path of righteousness. That’s why he and my parents were open for me to pursue any religion I wanted.. not because of any complex but because they were so damn confident that I will stick to Hinduism and they were right.. I am same with my kid. she can follow whatever religion she wants or not follow any at all, but I will guide her to learn about any religion from the source and not follow the interpretations of the so called biased scholars…

    The problem is Hindus don't take pride in being a Hindu the reason the religion itself does not teach you to be proud with exclusivity. I was in USA for 23 years and it is common to hear the Americans proudly say my child studied in a Catholic school or Methodist etc. I have seen many Hindus including my family members not able to defend their faith to a Christian person. In south in TN its common for Christians to try to convert you if you are a Hindu even in this case the Hindus just stand and hear like a sitting duck not giving back.

    The Educational system in India was designed to turn out clerical level staff to support the British at the time. After that, liberals and socialists took over but they filled the text books with a narrative which painted Indians and Hindus in a poor light. So earlier generations grew up under the idea that Hindus are divided and weak in all aspects. But because the faith has very strong roots and structure - a re awakening has already started and the situation is also gradually changing to a point where Hindus are more united and more proud of their heritage. Sanathana Dharma has a key principle - Truth and righteousness will always win.

Of course, people going to madarsa had a tendency to criticise other faiths and religions and Hindu children sent to christian schools for hyped English education were fed Christian concepts and being secular by nature they never cared to cross- check facts as they might not have access to holy books and their parents might have been ignorant and “modern” as well. But with internet the knowledge and holy books became accessible and after knowing their richness the young generation started their fight for it because the culture and civilisation seemed precious and worthy to fight for.

Sham Sharma puts it across brilliantly in such a short time and without pussy footing around. A lot of Hindus compare Hinduism as being similar. Or rishis as prophets, veda as holy book(s), Brahman as one god, salvation, we too are monotheistic, Dharma as our religion, we believe etc.

    Hi Lubna,
    Regarding the Hindu Inferiority complex, Hindus have faced 1000 years of war on their religious and cultural identity, Mughals were not the first Islamic invaders, the Islamic invasion started in 711 AD because of Prophet Mohammad’s prophecy of Ghazwa-e-Hind, the Muslims who concur India will get the highest of Jannah and later European Christian invasions took place from 1500 AD, a large portion of India is under non-Hindu ruler till 1947-by 1947 India had lost Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tibet, Bangladesh, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Maldives.
    Leftist ideology leaders of India had started changing the history of India against Hindus. Outsiders (invaders) were the ones who brought and taught most things to Indians in every aspect of life, injected that Hinduism is inferior as they tend to be more accepting and they don’t have solid principles defined in a certain book. Bollywood also did the same.
    Please discuss this with Abhishek, he will explain this perfectly about 1000 year war and the Hindu inferiority complex.

    He had Hinduism being taught in the constitution in round about ways but full freedom to Muslims
    I was shocked to know only recently that all Hindu Temple donations are under the state Govts
    And they take almost 80% of the collections whereas collections of Churches and Masjids are totally exumpt and thetravellers going for Haj

    I am commenting to your podcast for the first time. I am 74 years of age living in Delhi and a keen observer of the history of the Indian subcontinent and someday hope to go to Pakistan to trace certain places of historical interests.
    By and large what Sham said is correct, for good seven decades the Indians were taught wrong and biased history wiping out many centuries about civilization and kingdoms of the Indian subcontinent stretching from present day Myanmar to Afghanistan, many parts of Pakistan were cradles of learnings,kingdoms and events, they were even inseparable parts of Ramayana and Mahabharata epics, Lahore and adjoining area were named after Lord’s Ram sons, Luv and Kush, Draupadi of Mahabharata hailed from erstwhile Punjab in Pakistan and Queen Gandhari hailed from Kandahar in Afghanistan, above all even the venerable Ved Vyas who composed the VEDAS also came from India and Pakistan region, off course you must be aware of Takshshila and Harrappan civilization.
    The sad truth is the British imbibed wrong history of the land to suit their rule and nursed the Indian Congress Party as their puppets by obliging them for whatever they wanted, Nehru got India and Jinnah got Pakistan for themselves, rest is history how they ruined their countries. Consequently Pakistan and Bangladesh will be Balkanized by next year. India has survived and will progress albeit haltingly, thanks to resilience of its ancient temperament and it is this resilience which withstood the onslaughts of brutal invaders who could not subjugate the whole country. Just remember the whole of Iran was converted to Islam in just 25 years from being Zoroastrian who are the present day Parsis of India too.
    This is a very short macro narrative of this subcontinent’s history, so remember that you are a very special person worth respecting n veneration.

    It's true... Most of my parents generation was very shy to proclaim thier hinduness just for the fear of sounding lowly or non secular..

    Those who are convent educated suffer more of this complex, and others too at some extent who are influenced by such people, and also political narratives have confused many hindus - thank " ----- " it is going away. (By the way - I am a reverted Roman Catholic - victim of "false Saint Francis Xavier")
