i'm from new mexico, usa. i grew up with these at practically every local fair. it's easily the most popular ride for a lot of americans i bet, especially those from small towns. it really is one of the most fun rides and growing up i can remember lines of people halfway across the midway on a busy weekend night waiting just to ride this. i remember doing it once when i was in my 20s and went to the local fair with some friends after a night of drinking and we ran into some school acquaintances and had a chance to catch up and laugh then ride the zipper it was fun. the ride was just at the state fair last month but i couldn't go on it because it was a rainy and windy day and a few rides werent in operation. interesting to know that europe isn't very familiar with this national treasure! p.s. i have NEVER seen it with the whole "captain america" theme in decades of fair-going.

i've been to 2 traveling carnivals in the usa in the last 2 months and have seen this ride my whole life and have NEVER seen this theme. it's so over-the-top but also perfect!
Only touring Zipper in Europe. There is one in storage in Birmingham UK not opened for years, at one point there was four touring the UK.
that's interesting. is it something to do with safety? reading stuff about thrill rides i came across something about that. is it because of certain safety. and hazard legislation, liabilities for the companies that operate, etc.? probably a WAY specific question but that's too bad that it's not more familiar to amusement park-goers in europe and the uk. generations of americans have grown up with it, riding it is practically a rite of passage, and from what i understand the ride maker is still in business and serving touring amusement companies. in my highly-esteemed and under-informed opinion, it's an american treasure.
@@brianthedesertbum I know I'm responding to an over year old comment but the traditional zipper definitely is considered quite unsafe in a lot of europe and also there's no second hand ones to go around due to the distance, but I'm almost sure that a brand new Zipper with the Over-the-shoulder harnesses instead of the pretty rudimentary cage (Chance rides makes new Zippers!) would be fine in Europe and I'd like to see one of those pop up somewhere.

I know of another Zipper out of the states. It's in New Zealand owned by Mahons Amusements
This ride comes to my town every year, in NJ. So that’s fun. But I’m not sure if the fair will happen this year.

Rumurs are going around that the company that makes the Zipper is going out of business so this ride might be disappearing if someone doesnt start manufacturing this ride, the parts are going to be hard to come buy.

not true at all the company that makes them is called chance they are makin new zippers for 2018 with shoulder restraints
Rickie Robinson yeah I heard that the more parts that break they have to buy more but they can get scraped for the parts they don’t have many more parts for it
No fair, that Zipper allows single riders! Most here in the states cut that out. :( I used to ride alone lots of times on the Zipper back in the day but not now..
Whats the reason?
They said the reason is that riders can get slung or slide from side to side during the ride's / cage's action or flipping. That's a lie, cuz I've ridden a few & that never happened with me. On the Sky Diver, yes, but the Zipper?, no! And they cut out single riders on the Sky Diver now at fairs n the states as well. I used to ride those also alone. The Diver will make you slide around in the car but with 2 people in there, and they slide into you, that hurts like hell! So, I absolutely hate that no single rider rule! It sucks for us that like to ride the classics such as the Zipper & Sky Diver. :(
Unfortunately it would be easy for a smaller person to get out of the restraint if someone else isn't sitting next to them. And in the states its all to common for people to disobey rules.

single rider's in the car?? How is that?? All the zipper's i've heard of always say never a single rider per cage!!

I know its probably random but I’m really curious if anybody knows of what fair this zipper came from, I know it’s refurbished and saw the way it looked before it’s refurbishment but I’m i can’t find any video with it (before the refurbishment) if anybody knows where it came from PLEASE I’m very curious about the story of that zipper
Before in France, it was in Italy, and now its in Spain, but for the rest i dont know, sorry
