- Amid scorching heat Tuesday afternoon, community members rallied around McDaniel High School holding signs that said things like, "Our kids are not for sale." They were talking about human trafficking off Northeast 82nd Avenue, near the school.
“With the I-5 corridor here, running up and down the coast, it's heavy,” said Kathy Stromvig, a concerned community member and Rotarian.

Perhaps reevaluate your voting choices. Most people refuse to accept their part in enabling acceptance.
This has been going on since the 80's, I went there and had to deal with it on a daily basis!!! Class of '87'
When I lived in San Francisco black pimps would hang around the middle school trying to get girls to work for them. At recess the teachers on duty had to herd the girls away from the fence so the pimps couldn't talk to them.
I know a girl from Portland who wants to be out there not every one is trafficked sad but true and she has a baby
Why can't they just say "prostitution"? The term "human trafficking" is misleading, just like using the term "bias crime" for "hate crime". These euphemistic terms are not helpful at all to the public discourse on these issues.
Because there is such a thing as adult, consentual prostitution; there is also such a thing as involuntary, servitude based sex work, AKA human trafficking.
@@PeppersGhost55 and they can't possibly know what form is taking place, and it is possibly both.
In case you are confused, this is about prostitution. For some strange reason, someone decided it was politically correct to call it human trafficing.
They are one in the same goober
They are not the same thing.
when you refer to sex work as "human trafficking", it desensitizes people to actual human trafficking.
Liberal paradise
Liberals have nothing to do with it. Turd.
Sorry Jack , you voted for this..............................................eh, TH-cam?
Those girls want to out there 😂
Yes, per the comment below - prostitution! These are different. And, as a society, we waited FAR too long to address this. As we do, essentially, regarding everything. Hence, the problems/issues become overwhelming in magnitude.
How does holding a sign stop human trafficking? Remove the reasons people do it in the first place.
And your dog too!
To be fair, the jack shacks were there LONG before the high school.
Inpound the cars, end of problems
We used to live in SW Portland. My HS daughter was approached at the bus stop by someone we believe was someone sniffing around to see if she was vulnerable to his coaxing. She got rides to school from that point on.
Legalize prostitution!
For children? Wow
It's gonna be fully legal soon, especially since there are thousands of cereal killers brought in special for Halloween 🎃 from all over the 🌎 You think I'm joking, but you'll see that i am not! The food is getting cut off on Tuesday the 1st
Legalize, tax and regulate sex work. It will never end. Sex is good and the shy and desperate need it. The sex workers were there first, surely. But it shouldn't be around schools.
Darrell says Democrats make this possible
They need to make a legal.. and let these girls work in a safe place.. and away from these major boulevards
That’s what people said about decriminalizing drugs and look how that turned out for the city…
@@KiraKhaii most of that caused by it falling into the homeless population... And most of the homeless are caused by the rental industry.. and they're ridiculous high rent.. and regulations to get into an apartment
@@KiraKhaii Different situation, different solutions.
Prostitutes are often exploited by powerful abusers.
@@MarvinThiessen same liberal logic lol
The lady speaking on I-5 nailed it!
Alot of these women want too be out there
