Kayla Weiss hey I’m a libero but I grew up in a setter family, being a setter you have to lead the game so make sure you have good communication with your team and make sure to practice all your skills such as serving, blocking and dumping and things not just setting. @@はるか-i5i ok thanks so much:) do you know your setter's height for the vertical jump? sorry if I'm asking too much, I'm just really nervous lol. Also good luck with your tryout!!
@@kaylaweiss7034 hey! i would definitely say that setting accuracy and setting it high to the rightside and outside is def looked for at tryouts. Also getting to the ball early and squaring up to the net is important to tell if the setter has experience. Receiving isn't such a big thing they look at at my club, but definitely being able to block and hit is important. Make sure when you are at tryouts to try to use your hands as much as possible and be really quick to the ball and always be one step ahead of the game. Hope this helped :).
me personally, I like FAST agile setters. we like to run 5-1s. so the setter does not come off the floor. its more consistent also for the team (hitters) if the same setter is delivering the ball. versus the 6-2 which one setter could be good? the other setter bad? far as accuracy focus on setting the ball in the same "area" or "zone". never focus on the "perfect set". 4s, 2s, 9s, etc just try to set them all in the same general area consistently. a good hitter can perform very well under that scenario. :D notice I used the word "consistently" a lot :D
Another good point for a setter : try to predict the ball falling position( no matter the ball is calling from mates or the other teams) and move to that falling point position earlier. It is helpful that you will have more response time to deal with the ball and calling to right sweet point to your hitters.
My position is middle but I will never get second ball. I will only get it if they called help. As a middle I always need to get out of the way for the setter.
The most noticeable thing at a new tryout, camp, clinic on a volleyball court (both indoor 6x6 and beach 2v2) is your ability to be an amazing teammate. Love, forgive, encourage- and at the same time compete like a lion. Coaches will be drawn to you almost immediately- regardless of skill.
well yea ofc like 3 times a week for abt 3 or 4 hours a club is not only to play a game every two weeks if u dont practice they're gonna make smashed potatoes outta u
i literally cannot stand that middle. ik i’m supposed to be nice but i knew this before i even made it on my first team: SETTER IS ALWAYS SECOND TOUCH. she did not seem to get that at all, and the way she looked at the setter whenever she got the ball instead.. 19:49 and 21:50 like girl back up to the line to hit, don’t just stand there

Just watching this made me nervous 😭
Sameee I got tryouts for 9th grade
Is this In Las Vegas?
It’s so frustrating to see everyone just standing.😭😭 like WHY IS NO ONE IN READY POSITION?!
why is the middle just standing there
Ngl it was really hard watching this at the BeGiNiNg bc he was talking sooo much
I’m so scared. I didn’t make my 8th grade tryouts, and I’m almost certain I won’t make my 9th grade. Everyone is louder and better than me :(
The most noticeable thing at a new tryout, camp, clinic on a volleyball court (both indoor 6x6 and beach 2v2) is your ability to be an amazing teammate. Love, forgive, encourage- and at the same time compete like a lion. Coaches will be drawn to you almost immediately- regardless of skill.
Kinda feel bad for the setter 😂
Wait if u join a club do u practice
Yes ofc you need to practice
well yea ofc like 3 times a week for abt 3 or 4 hours a club is not only to play a game every two weeks if u dont practice they're gonna make smashed potatoes outta u
i literally cannot stand that middle. ik i’m supposed to be nice but i knew this before i even made it on my first team: SETTER IS ALWAYS SECOND TOUCH. she did not seem to get that at all, and the way she looked at the setter whenever she got the ball instead.. 19:49 and 21:50 like girl back up to the line to hit, don’t just stand there
Who else is watching this because you're gonna start volleyball in a few months 😭
*nobody*
me watching thousands of these videos to prepare for tryouts in a few days:
What's their age division????
This was a combined indoor club tryout for one U15 team and one U16 team, 2 years ago lol
20:26 that's tuff
that’s me whenever I try to set
she didn’t even move from her spot at all unless she was taking setters ball
Idk if anyone noticed but the girl in the lavender shirt with the first set of girls, playing 5 and is opposite to where the camera is, had some really clean passes. I hope she made the team :).
wanted to check lvl of ppl my age that actually train volleybal and can say am getting up there I started 1st september cus hs and couldnt perform serves 1/2 of the time now am able to perform a jump serve and have good game sense
Omg my tryouts are in 2weeks and I’m so scared😭
is this a carget floor
YALL IM CRINGING SO BAD!!! I JUST REALIZED THAT I PRACTICALLY DID THE EXACT SAME THING AS THE MIDDLE IN THE BLACK SHIRT AT MY FRESHMAN TRYOUTS A FEW MONTHS AGO, I LITERALLY WOULD NEVER TRANSITION OFF THE NET 😫I SWEAR I AM SO MUCH BETTER NOW THAT I FOUND AN AMAZING CLUB TEAM BUT I TOTALLY BOTCHED MY TRYOUTS FOR FRESHMAN YEAR 😭
and what makes it worse is that I've been playing for almost 3 years
@@audreyjones7583 WOWWWWWW character development came in clutch
wait what should’ve the middle done? im new to volleyball ruless
@@harrietstyles1612 should’ve moved out of the way so the setter could get the ball
I’m going to 7th grade next year and I want to try out so I want to watch others at try outs
Same, I'm super scared cause tryouts are next month and !'m really newww
i love volleyball but im still new to it hehe loved this video and if im turning 14 this year, which category would i be in?
I’m not 100% on this but I’m pretty sure the categories are made for each age so you would be U14 since your turning fourteen and these tryouts are for 15 and sixteen year olds tho like I said this isn’t a solid fact just what I’m guessing based on what I’ve seen
@@rainbowskeletons3306 ohh ok thank uu
Not me watching this after I missed the orientation
omg the middles not getting out of the way for the setter made me so mad
it’s annoying how the middle kept getting the setters job
The girl on the left side at the first match playing middle wasn't letting the setter get the ball
just watching this gives me flashback anxiety
Wow
Bro what grade they in-
i am dying to play volleyball
I’m watching this cause tryouts are in two weeks and I’ve never played volleyball before. I’m very scared but I’m trying to be prepared
Me too but my try outs this weekend
I like the ones in the blue long shirt short sleeves that is in the back and the white shirt person they can dig the ball well
Me watching all of the volleyball tryout videos when mines in like 5 days!!! Aghhh I’m scared!!
Am I the only one who is getting uncomfortable with them all being near each other haa
yes you are
you are
watching this makes me think is my team good 🧐😂
Ok this is more interesting than I expected
well let’s see if i make the freshmam team . 😫
does the girl in middle not know what a setter is 😐😐
as a middle the girl in the black angered me sm. LIKE MOVE TO WHERE THE BALL IS GOING DONT JUST STAND THERE AND LOOK CONFUSED?? setter gets second ball and thats it
maybe she's new idk 😭 chill
theyre really good but the stuf theyre doing would def make my team run
Ex: they were standing up the whole time until the ball came to them
they were conversating alot but all in all pretty good
19:49 the girl with the bun and blue shirt stole that ball from the girl in the black shirt😭I would not want her on my team tbh
19:52 now I know y’all seen the girl in the blue shirt when the girl in the black had that
that’s what she’s supposed to do
She’s the setter. Setters get second ball unless they call for help. The middle should transition of and get ready to hit
Do U guys allow boys
Not me keeping my eye on the middle the whole time cause she was getting on my nerves
The one setter in the black shirt really likes to backset. I don’t know if she even set to the outside 💀. She has nice back sets but she needs to mix up the variety.
