i bought kirby air ride for £250 with the manual, and the manual was water damaged, so pretty much the worst thing that I could have gotten for what I bought.
I like to go into CEX when I get the chance but I never really buy anything from them unless it’s a cheap game. I sold my Xbox one to them many moons ago and it was just a painful experience.
CEX stores are awful for returns! I remember trying to return an item a week after I got it and they wouldn't give a refund just store credit... for trade in value only, not for what I paid for it!!! - They're crap!
@@interghost if your item wasn't damaged or non-working, then you weren't entitled to a refund. You should consider yourself lucky they offered you store credit. By the sounds of it, you don't know how the store returns work and because things didn't go the way you wanted, you're still crying about it. Next time ask a staff member what their return policies are
@@nutter789 Read the comment... the "store credit" was just trade in value not what I paid... so NO not "lucky" at all. So, what you're saying is I should have damaged it instead and retruned it pmsl. I bought it for some one and then they already had it. Most stores would just swap it over for something else. CEX are a rule to themselves.
@@interghost the item wasn't damaged, you bought it so it's on you, not the store. You obviously didn't return it within the 48 hour window, therefore you weren't entitled to a refund. All you could do was sell it which obviously if you did that, you didn't get the same value you paid for it because you're selling it back to them and the store has to profit off what they buy in. The store doesn't hand out refunds because you made a bad purchase that didn't work out, that's on you, not the store. You weren't entitled to a refund so stop crying about it and move on
I imagine the residue will be battery acid 😳 Either they didn't fully inspect or test it when it came in or it had been sat for too long in store not selling and occurred whilst sat in their inventory. The return issue is sadly common and has been going on for a while. It is very inconvenient for the customer. I had to wait for an hour once (told me to come back as they will send an email and can't guarantee how long it will take them to reply) and came back to hear a staff member say to the person serving me "just process the refund, they didn't take any photos" 🙄 Edit: Just to add though, the reason they check returns with sending stores now (I was told it's retro items priced £30 or more) is because they had issues with people nicking manuals (before they changed to w/ and w/o manual listings) and people using them as a free upgrade by ordering a game they already own in rubbish condition and then returning their old rubbish version.
I bought a phone from them looked clean and no scratches and such , didn’t see it working as not charged and told charge when u get home I did but it never turned on , took back day after and they said nope we can give u instore credit , I was not happy with this and told manager not here blah blah blah , luckily hubby read their terms and conditions and it said we will give back how u paid and I had paid cash , luckily they eventually agreed never bought anything like that again from them. Bought games but nothing higher end . Glad all sorted but it does make you wonder sometimes . 👍
The online warranty is also awful. Earlier this year, I bought silent hill 2 directors cut with no manual. My disc was scratched to oblivion and didn't work. I told them i wanted a replacement, and there was 1 on the system. After 3 days of giving it in they had not fixed it. In the end i had to buy it for more money than i originally paid and they only offered a £5 voucher. The online staff were awful and very unhelpful/rude
Around this time of year , they have lots of new starters that dont know the system and end up costing the company money!! I had two limited edition 4k films - which one store delivered the wrong edition - and the other store mistakenly put it on the shelf and some of the rare extras were stolen! Only 3 in the country and the shop had to take the hit 😢
I bought a preowned Logitech G Pro Wireless mouse from them. They sent it without the USB Dongle which should have been in the housing. They accused me of taking it out and trying to return an item incomplete. I had to send them photos "proving my innocence". It was nuts. I havent had any other trouble from them, but it did make me second guess my "big budget" purchases from them. Now I only buy games and dvd's that are inexpensive.
I never have trouble returning anything. If I order online, I return online by arranging a free collection on the CeX website and Royal Mail even bring the label. That way I don’t need to trouble the busy staff in store
I have never had an issue with returning anything and I have been shopping there for 12years and yes it can take a while for them to sort it out but it beats trying to get a refund from the likes of eBay and Facebook marketplace
You won’t have time to source another one now in time for Xmas for your dad , least you have this video to send him 👍 . It’s the thought that counts after all
cex are dumb, i am still pissed years later about how one time i bought a ps3 from them and from the start the fan was super loud. it sounded like a hoover so after a couple months i thought enough is enough and took back. after testing they refused to honor guarantee as it was very dusty inside. Like how tf can i solve that issue? I am not allowed to open and clean inside.
Which two does he need? I can get them here in china from japan and post to you i can get two inc post to the uk for that price . Will take three weeks ro arrive though
I think the issue might lie with your store. I return things to mine occasionally and their process for items that have arrived damaged/faulty are, to send the original store an email to say what’s happened and “book in” the item. Even though they book it in they always reassure me that I don’t have to hang around while they wait for the other store to reply and then within a day I get notified that the refunds been processed. It may take 10mins while they send the email and book it in. Crazy to make you wait so long. They also asked to make sure my Cex account contact details were correct I assume in case they needed to contact me if there was an issue when the original store replied. Either way poor handling of the situation from both stores. Hope your dad manages to get one eventually 😊
If the console could be torn down and cleaned properly and ended up working it could have worked out well. I would have said to them if they could fix it up then you could keep it. Might not of had to process a return that way.
The issue with Cex, is some stores are really good with the quality of the product they buy in. Where as other stores, seem to take in anything, no matter what the condition. I have seen countless steelbooks in Cex, with dents, scratches and marks, then think why did you even buy them in. If that sells online, they will send it to that person, knowing full well its either dented or scratched it makes zero sense. I purchased Castlevania Chronicles from Cex few months back, well excited as it was the only one in stock. Got it out, all looked good, manual all fine, then saw the cover art on the inside. It had all like yellow marks on it, which for a game that expensive was crazy. I took it back, the person in the cex store said, I am surprised a store would take it in like that. I said well that's what I was sent, so they said we need to send over pics to the store that sourced it to make sure it was the correct one. Which was all fine, they did that and I was refunded. So even another store was surprised it was bought in like that, so it all depends on the store. The other thing that is madness, if you purchase a game for say over £80, then return it as you don't want it. They need to do a warranty check, to make sure the game is working. My issue with that is, if they tested the game and it wasn't working, they would still have to refund it anyway lol, so the refund could be done a lot quicker. I am not knocking Cex, as I have purchased 90% of my movies and game collection from them over the past 15 years and have had some really good stuff at very good prices. It is just annoying, when your all excited for a delivery and that happens, then you have the trouble of taking it back and ordering another one.
I mean you are right to complain but at christmas stores are likely to all be busy working in the store rather that picking up phones and things like that.
Oh no!! You should scan that QR code you get on the receipt and have a good moan about it!! Over an hour to return something is absolutely disgusting!! 🤬
That’s a real shame , that’s well overpriced , they were dear enough on release , weird how Cex do sell some Japanese exclusives, they must have paid the tax & shipping fees on top to justify their asking price 😂
Sorry, I’m not clear. Are you saying they wouldn’t accept the return at all? Or they did accept it after they confirmed with the pictures from the original store?....it just took longer than it should have to complete the returns process.
@RetroHead-od3cu So their process/policy worked just fine, you just had a delay in them doing it. What time of day did you go? The store probably couldn't pick up the phone as they were busy.
I've worked for cex in the past, stores do not have phones customers can contact us on. Whoever told you that is wrong. You could've taken your item into any store with your invoice and explained the situation, they would've tested it in less than five minutes and you would've been given your refund. Cex is a second hand store, nothing they sell is new and sometimes staff buy in items they shouldn't or items are bought and not sold for a while and sometimes they can break during this time, especially if batteries aren't removed by staff after they've bought it in. It was a genuine mistake, most stores are great, it's just not as strict as other jobs. Some people take advantage of that and simply don't care. I always did care what I bought it and the condition of it.
@@nutter789 I did take it to a local store. I know that CEX don't have a customer phone line. The staff in the store were phoning the store it came from to request the photographs of it. They tested it and could see it wasn't working and could see the battery leakage but wouldn't refund until the store had sent the photos. Unfortunately this process took well over an hour which is terrible customer service. Thanks for watching

never had a problem with buying any thing just don't go for anything really old then
