Great vid for those interested in choosing. I'm combining both. It's can be a pain to get a good mix, but when ya do, you have the board levels set, and if you want to add a bit of effects, volume, or just use it for the benefits of Rec n share, it can work amazing. I'm still figuring it out. I use the R & L outputs from the board, and go direct to EAD. The biggest problems with the EAD alone, are you can't hear music if you're playing loud, it starts sounding fake, and it doesn't pick up, or give the true sound of cymbals

YOU....Absolutely read my mind! Incorporating the ead10 with studio microphones. The possibilities seem endless. For instance, you can track your drums and ead10 simultaneously, then blend them in the mix during post production as desired. If there's a break in the song that requires a giant reverberated tom roll, you simply mute the house mics and solo the ead10.... Brilliant video!.. I'm gonna buy one soon.
That's awesome I didn't know that. Any update? Did you buy it? How does it sound? Does it live up to your expectation? Also, what editing program do you use? Any free ones?
Great video and I agree with just about everything that has been said below. The EAD-10 is a really great tool. I am working on integrating into my kit for smaller venues, and using it for miking and in-ear monitoring as well. Well done!
Pretty Goddam Impressive!! I was so excited about the EAD10 first time I saw it that I immediately went to buy it and had to stop myself at checkout when I remembered.....I don't have a drum set!! LoL...I am buying a set any day now and I AM definitely buying the EAD10 to use in my studio
EAD sounds better, crisper and way more punch in the bottom end! Plus the Tom’s also sounded fuller and more resonant when played! Not just because of the effects, though I know effects enhance the sound of the drums!
That was very well done; and really helpful. Also, you have great taste in drums! I'm looking at one of these to save carrying around some gear for my in-ear setup, live. I use kick, snare and overheads presently. The bass drum sounds like I might still need a mic; but I'm thinking this would give me more toms than the overheads, which also pick up a lot of spill. Have you used this live? Anyway, great clip - well done.
Great video comparison!!! Enter then Yamaha’s own!!! Haha!!! I have an EAD10 and love it. So many nay sayers out there have no idea what this thing actually does or is possible of doing!!! They need to see your video!!!
Well that was a lot closer than I was expecting. I'm definitely going to pick one up to try out soon, I'm not sure how it will handle heavier playing but I'm going to find out. I'm planning on triggering all of the drums for DIY studio recording so I can beef them up in post production. For live stuff in bigger louder venues is it possible to just leave the ead10 mics off and use the triggering for effects and monitoring?
Lorne Gray yes it is possible to turn the Mics down so they’re not picking up the drums. But even in larger venues I’ve found that even if the sound guy uses overheads, I would still rather have the sound of my drums coming from the EAD because I control them and not the FOH guy.

Thanks for the kind words! :-)
These mics can wipe my ass. All it takes is a Shure beta 98.... And a good engineer to make it work... Not have all of those loser presets....
