I was going to message you to let you know it was up. Glad you enjoyed it and the shout out to your awesome business. Qix is complete and I’m working in the video now. Carnival turned out really nice and has been fun to play. Let me know if you find any other rough gems you want to pass on :)
This is great, I love Carnival. We moved in 1982 and I walked to school in 6th grade. The local mall was on the walk between the school and my home and the Sears Automotive Center entry was at the halfway point of my walk. There was a Carnival machine in the vestibule so I would stop there on extra cold or snowy days to warm up by playing a round of Carnival. It turned miserable winter walks home from school into a great memory.
I love these kinds of videos, the old games from back then. I grew up in that era. Unfortunately, there are hardly any arcade machines to buy here in Germany. I'm building these machines myself so that I can at least have a little retro time at home. Memories of my childhood. Many greetings from Germany and keep it up!!!
I’m fortunate to be in an area with many options for old arcade games. And I get that same fun feeling sparking memories from my childhood working on them. Good luck with your projects and greetings from the middle US :)
I kind of thought the same thing-maybe I should do that instead next time. But it did leave a film layer on the existing paint that wood hardener doesn’t. But there has to be some bulk product out there that would be a cheap wood hardener like the Minwax.
The Minwax soaks in pretty well and a thin layer provides a good outside surface to bond to. I think if I have a large area of exposed particle board I’d do the water and glue just to make it completely solid.
Excellent video. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Thanks!
Awesome to get another set of videos! Thanks Todd!
Hope you enjoy them!
Love the videos! What an excellent restoration and video. Really glad to have been apart of this. Can’t wait to see the future projects.

Ola Tod. Assistindo aqui do Brasil. Fantástico 👾🕹️⭐
Awesome as always, looking forward to Part II :)
My first Arcade machine was a Mr Do!, Don't have the machine anymore but I do have the PCB.
It was a pretty cool game. It’s too bad I didn’t have all the parts to give it a try before converting to Carnival.
It had been so long that I forgot your channel existed.
Haha it does take a while to get through each restoration and make a video. The next few shouldn’t be so long or far between.
Love your videos and the attention to detail. Just finshed, starting Part 2 now!
Thanks! I think Part 2 is even more fun than Part 1. Hope you enjoy it as well!
Holy cow… three parts. Thank you so much
Well-two parts and a whole, but still, it’s a lot!

I’m glad to hear fond memories of this game! I hope others will recognize it and share their stories as well. Thanks!

Been waiting for a fresh one from you! Looking forward to this restoration
Great project, thanks for sharing. I used to play Carnival on my cousins' BBC micro here in the UK and it was a very good conversion.
I think more people remember it on early consoles and computers more than in the arcade. Glad you liked it :)
The noise early on could have meant the capacitor was empty. It popped because a drained capacitor is nearly a short circuit.
Thanks for the new video!
It certainly took a while :) Next one shouldn’t be quite so long!
I’m wondering if that Wood Glue and water trick is a DIY version of that Minwax wood hardener you used earlier in the video?
I kind of thought the same thing-maybe I should do that instead next time. But it did leave a film layer on the existing paint that wood hardener doesn’t. But there has to be some bulk product out there that would be a cheap wood hardener like the Minwax.
Wish I had 10p for every time I’d played Carnival 😑
Same here uk brother 👍
Since the Titebond+water soaked in and made the surface harder, how does it compare to the Minwax that's much more expensive?
